  1. I hope you get it. Your town may have lots of competition. Is there only 1 “winner”?
And I hope tonight there are clear skies in Sask for the Beaver Moon
True story about my Dishes…the 1st dish I ever installed on my house in Southern BC, I pointed it high in the sky towards the southeast.
But last year about this time, I was in the Yukon and near the Arctic Circle. I borrowed the installer’s equipment…he lived 3 hours down the highway and couldn’t come, for the same reason that I wanted the dish (finals and the cup)…he ran a bar and hotel and was too busy. He said he the satellite was just 4 points off the horizon and to not think it weird if my dish was pointing right down at the ground.
As I drove south this summer, I watched dishes rise to the sky.

  2. Its not that bad of an idea. If the City of Saskatoon can name a AIRPORT after the man who cancelled the greatest Canadian airplane ever built (the Arrow). Why not change the name to Beer, makes a hell of alot more sense.

  3. I think that could work for Spruce Grove & Stony Plain (AB); Bud (S.G.) , Weiser (S.P.). Especially meaningful to locals. Bud voted to keep VLT’s and Weiser voted to get rid of them. lol!

  4. I remember when I was living in Calgary a friend of mine happended across some guys drinking Pil in the park. As a joke he asked, “Hey, what part of Saskatchewan are you from?”
    “We’re form Noth Battleford!”

  5. Kate:
Perhaps you could incorperate the fine prairie tradition of using body parts with the name change. You know like Elbow, Eyebrow, Arm_it, Barr Head, and Moose Jaw. Then you could call it Beer Belly, Saskatchewan. Just a thought…
p.s. I decided to leave out Big Beaver so as to keep this a G rated blog.
