Some notes:

  • Please include both the name of the blog AND it’s Web address for any
future nominations (I’m tired of Googling for addresses). I will be dropping
any nominations that I don’t get an address for by Friday.
  • Please put your nominations in the comments where everyone can see them
instead of e-mailing them to me.
  • To Richard Evans, sure you can nominate your own blog, just tell me what
category it goes in (and please don’t say ‘all of them’ [g]).
  • Someone asked me to define what a ‘new’ blog is — let’s say a blog that
has appeared within the last six months or so (I’m flexible on this).
  • Carol Jamieson’s site doesn’t look like a blog to me, but we’ve had
nominations for it. What do the rest of you think — should it stay or go? Update: Brian C. pointed out the address of Jamieson’s blog — I’ve changed the link to point to it. Can you tell I’m having a bad day?
  • The ‘Best New American Blog’ and ‘Best Blog Post’ categories need more
entries so please ante a few up.

  1. Sean:
I’d like to nominate a post you did on Polspy. Unfortunately, all I can remember about it is that it was great and had to do with alcoholism, drug addiction and judging others. Ring a bell? I wish I’d saved it. I think at the time, I called it one of the posts of the year. The fact that my memory of it is so sketchy is more a reflection on my failing intellectual faculties than the post. Is it retrievable?

  2. I’d like to nominate Sean The NDP Voting Gay Rights Extremist From The Very Left Wing Anti-CPC Anti-Harper Blog Called PolSpy in the Moonbat category. Alternatively, Sean can extend me the same courtesy he did Richard Evans, and kindly leave my (inactive) blog out of the “Moon” “Bat” category, please. I am a small c conservative and do not belong there. Thank you very much, and have a nice day.

  3. You know the Blogging Tories blogroll is getting too long when you have to ask for links. Just look to your left Sean.

  4. “I’d like to nominate a post you did on Polspy.”
Occam, I’ve still got the post on disk, but I’d rather not have anything of mine in the contest as it would look, um, bad.
“I’d like to nominate Sean The NDP Voting Gay Rights Extremist From The Very Left Wing Anti-CPC Anti-Harper Blog Called PolSpy in the Moonbat category.”
I’m having a good day. I’ve managed to get called a homophobe by someone on the left and get called a ‘gay rights extremist’ by someone on the right within a 24 hour period. I must be doing something right if I’m ticking everyone off.
FYI, here are the reasons I voted NDP in the last Alberta election:
    1) There was no SPA candidate in my riding.
    2) The Alberta Alliance candidate was an inbred twat. Worse, having been Mormon at one time, I’m well enough acquainted with Randy Thorenstein to know *exactly* what I’d be getting if he was voted in as premier. I have *some* scruples, dude.
    3) I made the mistake of listening to Kevin Taft speak once, and now I break into giggle fits whenever I hear his name. No way I can vote for that.
    4) I was left with a choice between Ralph Klein and Brian Mason. Seeing how Klein blows through taxpayer cash, Mason actually looked like the safer choice.

  5. “Just look to your left Sean.”
Well, isn’t that embarrassing? [blush] I’ll fix the links later — my wife wants me to make dinner right now.

  6. As Dean Wormer told me upon graduation:
“Short, fat and stupid is no way to go through life son.”
My hairline was voted Most Likely To Recede by my classmates.
    Toga; Toga; Toga

  7. Best Canadian Blog (since we can’t pick Kate):AngryGWN
    Most humorous blog: Protein Wisdom
Best “Whistleblower blog: Angry in the GWN.
Best Canadian political blog: Monte Solberg
Best American political blog: The Belmont Club

  8. Hey Sean, could you e-mail me that post? Personal consumption only. It was a hell of a post.

  9. Your choices are disappointing and, quite frankly, weird. Some things in this world are beyond argument.
PowerLine-best American blog and best blog of any kind. Captain’s Quarters is a close second.
The Fourth Rail- best Iraq war blog. If you aren’t reading this daily, you haven’t a clue as to how the war is being won.
ScrappleFace- best humour- dealing with the moronic left in the only way that makes sense. Dismissing them with satire and ridicule
Andrew Coyne-Best Canadian blog before being threatened with a libel action

  10. I’m happy in the moonbat categoty… If I’m not ranting about them, I’m baiting them and beating them sensless… Oh, yeah, I’ve got really cool “anti-moonbat” audio as well. I’d probably fit into some of the other categories, but I’d rather stay where I have a chance…

  11. WTF? Who the hell are YOU?
    Back to topic.
Agreed can-andrew, LGF is top notch and ranks in the top 3.
A couple of other notes: Scrappleface is PARODY not politics.
And Andrew Sullivan moved into the Moonbat category early last year in case you hadn’t noticed.

  12. We got nominated! We got nominated! While we may be far from being the best political blog, I think it’s safe to assume we are the best monarchist blog. But I see there’s no category for that.
In my opinion, Andrew Coyne has been the best Canadian blog overall (when he had the comments), though his blogging unfortunately tends to be somewhat intensely seasonal. Best sound-byte blog goes to Occam’s Carbuncle, before we lost the friggin link. Best wickedly antagonistic blog goes to Warren Kinsella hands down. Best Anglosphere blog goes to Mark Steyn. Best political blogs go to SDA and AGWN. Best politician blog goes to Monte Solberg. Best Blogging Tory blog goes to Stephen Taylor…

  13. “Need some proper representation from the left.”
Don’t they already have the country?

  14. For best Blog Post, I think Captain Ed’s post during the Gomery commission before the Canadian bans were lifted certainly should be nominated.

  15. Best blog post is Captain Ed when he blew the lid off the whole Librano Adscam fiasco, April 2, 2005, that opened the floodgates to what we are enjoying now. I still have that post and will keep it.

  16. bob’s right, I did. eitherorr.blogspot.com if I recall correctly.
For best post, rules be damned, Kate’s “I concede” should be in there as well.
So should Gods of the Copybooks’ Anniversary post (I’ve asked him to send me a link).
Civitatensus as a new Canadian blog also (www civitatensus.ca)

  17. 2:23 AM… Unless I missed it on the list because I’m 5 minutes away from falling asleep, you really CAN’T have a best of blog list without including “marksteyn.com”
now can you!!!… c’mon, he is, after all, “the one man global content provider!

  18. Best American Blog – Gullyborg (http://gullyborg.typepad.com)
Best Canadian Politics Blog – Monte Solberg, MP.
Best Canadian Blog (period) – Angry In The Great White North
Best Hard News Blog – Sound Politics
Best New American Blog – Do Or Die (http://semperfidoordie.blogspot.com, to be removed from best “American” blog. Yes, this is my blog.)
Best Iraq War Coverage: Michael Yon
Best MSM Run Blog: Michelle Malkin
Best Whistleblower blog: The Radio Equalizer (http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com)

  19. When someone stops posting for a while. It is interesting how people are so slow to return when that person is active again.
Debbye of Being American in TO has always been a good writer and very often prone to pick up new twists and scoops.
It was Debbye who colaborated with th Captain when Gomery’s secrecy order was flouted. That was great stuff!
Andrew’s blog gets few visits now too. It will pick up if comments are re-activated, but it’s no fun if we can’t tear into Andrews views. now Im off to
http://DebbyeStratigacos.mu.nu or Being American in TO. Also must check the illegal Coat of Arms on http://My.Opera.com/T-G/

  20. Since you are asking for more nominations for best blog post I would like to nominate one from SoundPolitics.org
    http://www.soundpolitics.com/archives/004203.html#004203
Considering the number of terrific posts on the subject of the Washington election fiasco it was very difficult to pick just one, but I feel that this post is one of best and shows how important Stefan’s investigative reporting was, since he seems to have been the only one actually doing the research.

  21. Thanks to Sean for nominating Sound Politics and to Cicero for nominating the specific post.
All I can say is stay tuned — there’s much more in the pipeline about King County Elections.

  22. Need Some Good Reading?

Small Dead Animals is holding a Small Dead Blog Awards, which has some links to some fantastic blogs whom others have nominated. I think Small Dead Animals needs a Best Canadian Expatriate blog, so I could nominate our good friend…
