Here are some interesting links I ran across this morning…
First off, James Bow is about to become a dad. Please take a moment and shoot some congratulations his way, even if you disagree with him politically.
Jay Currie has a good post up on the current kerfuffle between Austria and the rest of the EU over whether or not Turkey should be admitted.
Andrew over at BBB takes a look at blog etiquette.
Angry tracks an interesting use of softwood lumber funds.
James Koole takes a look at the recent release of Judith Miller from the point of view of an up and coming journalist.
Kathy is thinking that taking the vote back from women might actually be a good idea. I, of course, am absolutely dismayed that Kathy would say such a thing! (Note to my wife who will be reading this later: See hon? I was being good. Don’t hit me.) Update: I just re-read the post and discovered that Kathy was highlighting a post at Spleenville, so my apologies to her for putting words in her mouth (keyboard?).
Please drop any good reading you’ve found in the comments, or trackback to any posts on your own blogs that you feel deserve some exposure.

Some good news for Bow James Bow in a year that hasn’t been so great. Congratulations, James (or do you darken the doors of what one blogger has termed “Mordor”?

As to the Judith Miller story, it appears the she, James Koole and perhaps many other journalists do not understand what the journalist source privilege really is.
Ms. Miller went to jail to “protect her source”. Yet today some media accoutns suggest that the source waived privilege about a year ago. If that is accurate there are some questions that need to be answered.
Does Ms. Miller not appreciate that the privilege belongs to the source and not to her?
If she did understand that, why did she elect to go to jail to protect someone who did not wnat her protection? It certainly has kept her in the media spotlight. One has to ask why.
Landowners groups planning protest market at health unit
By NICK GARDINER
Staff Writer
The local medical officer of health is willing to talk issues but he’s inclined to put his foot down on a suggestion to hold a protest farmer’s market Thursday in the parking lot of the Laurier Boulevard offices.
Dr. Charles Gardner, president and CEO of the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit, said there’s no reason to allow a market to be set up to accommodate the wishes of the Lanark Landowners Association (LLA) and the Leeds and Grenville Landowners Association.
Those groups are planning to rally in support of market vendors in the three counties who are resisting regulations on the sale of farm eggs, apple cider and meat.
A similar rally early this month in Perth attracted a large crowd of supporters and they want to take their message right to the health unit by moving the Brockville Farmer’s Market north from its downtown location during normal hours from 8 a.m. to noon.>>>>>> more

Stop the ISM is trying to identify the young woman with the bullhorn in this photo below. She is an ISM activist speaking at a Hamas rally held near Ramallah in the West Bank last year (note the Hamas flag in front of her at the rally). In the photo she is surrounded by known members of Hamas.
Is she an American? If so, we want to notify Homeland Security about her.
The ISM works with Hamas and the PFLP over in the West Bank and Stop the ISM and Front Page Magazine want to stop them once and for all. If she is European or Canadian, we likewise can contact European or Canadian intelligence officials about her.
By U.S. law it is illegal to work in cooperation or support of known terrorist groups. The ISM tries to claim it is a “peace group” when it is in fact a subversive war movement under the guidance of the PLO and supports terrorists.
Help us to expose the terrorist enablers like this woman by helping to identify her. Please e-mail us at: stoptheISM@att.net.
Thanks for the link and the congratulations. All the best!
New charges may help pot activist

A private citizen says he’s filing charges Friday against pot activist Marc Emery and two of his associates, partly because that will throw a wrench into the United States’ plans to extradite the trio to face drug charges in that country.
If he gets charged in Canada that will have major legal consequences for that extradition request, said David McCann, a local philanthropist and businessman.
Mr. McCann said he has hired prominent lawyer Peter Leask in filing three charges of conspiracy under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and the Criminal Code of Canada.
Canada has been hypocritical in allowing Mr. Emery to sell marijuana seeds and collecting thousands of dollars in taxes while the city of Vancouver gave him a business licence for his pot paraphernalia store, he said.
We have let him operate and now we let the Americans walk into our country and charge a man who they will probably lock away for the rest of his natural life in the United States for doing something that the government of Canada condoned. And you know, I got a problem with that as a Canadian.
Mr. Emery, along with his co-accused, Michele Rainey-Fenkarek and Greg Keith Smith, were arrested July 29 after police raided Mr. Emery’s store following an 18-month investigation by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
He broke the law in Canada and so if we are going to let him be charged he should be charged here, where he did the offence, said Mr. McCann, adding he’s never met Mr. Emery.
Mr. McCann noted that Health Canada even referred patients, many of them terminally ill, to Mr. Emery if they wanted medicinal marijuana.>>> more

Hate to say it but the article is accurate… The vast majority of women tend to vote (act) based on emotion as opposed to rational thought… As such, often the candidate with the “best hair” wins… It’s an issue that should be looked at…
“The vast majority of women tend to vote (act) based on emotion as opposed to rational thought…”
Good, good. You’re getting close. Now substitute “people” for “women” and you’ll be on to something.
Get out and meet some men. They’re fairly stupid.
I just found this and it is extremely important for those that have not had the opportunity to see the videos. They can be seen at http://www.friendsofscience.org This tells the “other” side of the story regarding Globel Warming(cooling by some)and the Kyota agreement. A must for all Canadians to view, so please pass this around to your friends and family and lets “jaw” it up on this great, and other posts.
Again thank you Kate, this old vet loves you and consider yourself “hugged”!
Not to mention the Billions that the Fureror wants to send over to his Europian friends, and have they ever got their snowts out to receive all this money from us again. This makes Adscam look like a Girl Guide cookie sale.

By the way if it will help, once you have got the link, the next page will come up with some orange background and the word “video” on it. Click on Video, the sound and the video are first class, please take the trouble to look at this. Thanks.
