  7. I think the linking of New Orleans was just indicating that it is bad to be desperate and homeless no matter if you live in Africa or in the U.S. I didn’t sense a slam in THIS case.

  8. Hey, just a thought for the PM, but why appoint a 47-year old, Haitian-born, 2nd-female-in-a-row GG, with a questionable Can-pat past? Why not a good old Saskatchewan dirt-farmer from the great southeast of the province like Kate’s dad, Murray? Make the best GG ever – cool guy, maybe a tad vertically-challenged, fairly cerebral, but with a real appreciation for the greatest business in the world (producing food, not those other great occupations – silly!), family guy and with a great spouse that’s a life partner, not somebody kind of “out there”. Best idea ever – thought I’d share it. Don’t mensh.

  22. In September of 1939, an order-in-council was passed invoking the Defense of Canada Regulations, (The War Measures Act). Four years later, another order-in-council gave us-among other things-Regulation 21, in which the Minister of Justice could have you locked up if you say naughty things about the government. Fortunately, under Regulation 22- you have the right to appeal your detention order.
    My question: Can our new GG have us locked up for dissing her?
