  1. Hope to be able to tune in! Heading south to Cowtown-hopefully QR-77 picks up the show.
Kate: If Warren asks the question “Is it true bloggers sit at their computers all day in their pj’s?”, tell him you prefer to go au natural. heh heh!
Cheers Y’all, have a great weekend!

  2. Kate,
Have you ever thought about doing your own pod-cast? Or internet radio show? I’m sure you would have no shortage of guests on the show.
Cheers from a old P.A. boy,
    Rednik:.

  3. Cool. Great for you. BTW, I wonder if it’s possible to get a link to a transcript of this and the last radio interview you did?
    BTW, I’m also over at…

Under the Warren Kinsella thread “NAFTA’s naff (British slang)” in which he actually says nice stuff about Mr. Harper, believe it or not!
…arguing economics and tax cuts with leftists, including TB/Cerberus. This is my turf, economics. I’m confident; check ‘er out!

  4. This is only very tangental to this post I am afraid ( but it does deal with,IMO, another important broadcast airing); Kate, you and your friends (especially TonyGuitar who was kind enough to respond to one of my posting of a few days ago, questions that I am mulling over) might be interested to know that one of the great masterpieces of modern Western Culture; dealing with Governmental duplicy, beaurucratic machinations, commitee in-fighting, butt-covering, ruthless table-turning… all things Machiavellian and perhaps one of the great comedies of all time has just started being broadcast on Wednesday evenings on Vision TV (channel 54 in Calgary). Yes! “Yes,Minister” (and then with any luck “Yes, Prime Minister”) is back to give its unique Civics lesson to a new generation ( and a much needed refresher course to those of us longer of tooth or grayer of beard (not of couse you Kate)), the first of the series ran this past week and should continue for months. If any of you have teens or are curious yourselves about how government *REALLY* works I urge you to take the half hour investment of time every week and apply it to “Yes, Minister”. It could be a life altering experience for some callow starry-eyed would-be activist. Here is a URL

if you want a taste before investing your precious time. As exerpted from that site, “Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was very impressed with the series and once stated: “Its closely observed portrayal of what goes on in the corridors of power has given me hours of pure joy”.”

  5. Well, I held my own on CommentsPlease today. I’ve never before had the opportunity to argue economics and tax cuts before with someone also of some econo training. Too bad I had to take out formulae and all that to bolster my arguments, which were not returned, as “Mike” went home just a few minutes ago…
Plus, I didn’t get a peep out of Don!

  6. Stephen if you listen to CHQR 770 am radio then join the CHQR Insiders (free) and they have an audio vault. You can access any programming that has aired over the last 30 days. I’m not sure what day Kate was on, but it was at 8pm.

  7. Actually, Kelly, I would require a written transcript as I haven’t “listened” to a radio since I was five, not a matter of choice, btw. No biggie; one cannot tell from stuff I write on a blog.
Besides, I’m sure many radio programs have written transcripts?

  8. Let me rephrase that Stephen. If you logon to QR77 then access the audio vault, voila you’ll get all your favorite old radio shows, up to 30 days.

  9. That’s ok, Kelly. It’s only radio, and it’s been so long since I was ABLE 😉 to listen to one I don’t even miss it anymore.
Besides, I’m sure Kate will eventually be doing TV interviews, of which I CAN make use… and there’s always SDA…

  10. That’s actually great to hear Kate because not long ago I think MacLeans or some other magazine type like that was trying to convince people that bloggers had no influence. I begged to differ then – and I still do. I think your being on the show just goes to prove that.
I’ll do my best to listen in. I like his show and listen to it often. Have fun.

  11. Peter Warren broadcasts out of Vancouver on CKNW. You can listen on the web at http://www.cknw.com.
They also have an audio vault so if you miss it you can replay it.
Good luck Kate. I TRY not to listen to Warren cause he too much at times but he does some good work.

  12. It’s cool, Kelly. It takes a million times more than an honest little whoopsie to offend me. Don’t lose any sleep, ‘k? ;-).
See how easily I can take “Don”‘s poo-throwing? (he does like monkeys do when they’re mad). A lot of people fly off the handle at Don, which is what he wants and sometimes gets. If you happen to run into him and he gets smart, just get smarter and he’ll eventually run away with a big brown stain on the seat of his pants… 🙂
Don’s the sort of guy who it’s ok to belittle, as he brings it on himself. If a Lib starts it, then it’s okay to throw the dung right back at him.

  13. Kate:
Yesterday’s announcements of PMPM’s signed agreements with Chinese President Hu Jin Tao include a specific deal on nuclear technology exchanges. Even the PMO’s press release lists specifics of nuclear technology to be exchanged – ostensibly for peaceful energy production.
Is anyone here concerned that this could allow PMPM to acquire nuclear weapons capability from China as part of the “strategic alliance”?

  14. Kelly Thanks for the tip. The date of the show Kate was on is August 29, 2005, ust in case someone else needs help finding it in the vault like me.

  15. Kate – way to go – just heard you on Peter Warren and you were the perfect lady!!!Keep up the good work. Linda

  16. Thanks for the CKNW link. Managed to catch the show just as it was starting.
Great job Kate. The interview sounded first rate. BTW, congrats on your upcoming millionth hit – any prizes available – lol.

  17. Queen of the canadian bloggers.
Listened to You and Peter, great interview, you made excellant points.
The blogs serve so many different and important reasons for their existance.

  18. Good stuff indeed.
The email Peter read was funny, and you ducked the stupid question. The drunk caller with no opinion was lame. You were A-class throughout, and your last words Kate, were eloquent.

  19. A friend just called, really indignant that Peter was so hostile and arrogant. While I felt a little bit of “old boys club” attitude, (which I decided to consider “devils advocate” questioning) and the email was a cheap shot (but anticipated – what’s new?), I enjoyed the interview.
But I was concentrating on the questions, not the attitude. What think the rest of you who listened?

  20. Re: Kate 05:33 PM
“A friend just called … Peter was so hostile and arrogant.”
I thought Peter was on his best behavior! He is a curmudgeon you know, but he knows how to keep a show moving. Not like the typical CBC, “Now let’s go to caller number four from Pukatawagan …”.
You did great IMO and I’m sure you’ll be a regular on Corus.

  21. I think he tried to come out swinging with the email in the hopes of provoking a reaction, but only got a reaction from the callers. i think it caught him off guard, and he also took a few hits about media bias. This kept him on the defensive instead of you.

  22. Good job Kate. I listened(and even got to call in) Warren was his usual cantankerous and confrontational self at the start but by the end he had been CONVINCED of the validity of the blogs.
Keep up the good work. MAYBE there is life AFTER Liberulshit after all.

  23. As to the old boys club attitude, if my call could go through, I was going to tell him that as a new Canadian, I got to know his show from SDA. Do not know what his reaction would be.
In the email at the beginning, the sender used the entry in wikipedia to support his defamation. How can wikipedia let the person who runs a website solely devoted to smearing SDA to write the entry about Ms. McMillian?
I did a little digging on the entry about Kate in wikipedia, and was going to edit the page until I saw the following sentences:
She wants to have all control over what is being said about her. And if she can’t have it that way… she demands that nobody say anything about her at all.
    See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Kate_McMillan for details.
Wikipedia is a too importatn to let Somena to write whatever she likes.

  24. The Wikipedia “writer” Somena is Meaghan Walker-Williams. In her various incarnations on the internet, (Edward T. Bear, MWW, Meaghan Champion, Bernice, Drugcop, and Ann Coulter of Canada are only a few…) she poses as a variety of different characters on various anonymously run blogsites, and then replies to herself in the comments sections.
Once you’re aware of what’s going on, it’s less funny than it is disturbing.

  25. SpaceNeddleBoy,
No one was all that concerned when Canada sold Pakistan a Candue reactor, with it’s unique on-line refuelling system and all(i.e, the Candu reactor is one of the world’s premier “weapons material maker”).

  26. Yes Kate, concentrating on questions. There may be times in future when an interviewer will try to get you shaken in an attempt to discredit.
A pause, and not diverting from the question may be a test then. It’s part of the game. You will pass that test. ‘3s TG

  27. I tuned in late and caught the Wickiwhateverpedia comment and laughed out loud. Great stuff Kate! Keep your stick on the ice and enjoy the ride.
