With Friends Like These…

Yesterday, Marc Emery saw the light and apologized for calling Justice Minister Irwin Cotler a “Nazi-Jew”. Better late than never, as they say, though his preamble goes out of its way to lay the blame on others…

“When I was in jail, I was immersed in alot of reading. I was studying forced sterilizations in Alberta, the Nazi regime in Germany, all these books and pamphlets on Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X. I was surrounded by natives and attending their sweats. I was forced to work cleaning toilets & janitorial duties for my jailers (I cleaned and maintained the main administration building) for many weeks as part of my time there.

He doesn’t elaborate on which of these influences led to his flirtation with anti-Semitism.
(full statement)
For all the outrage my publication of Emery’s statements caused among his supporters (who apparently have problems discriminating between message and messenger) it seems my advice that he get a new campaign team has gone unheeded. A post by
Cannibis Culture assistant editor “JodieGR” calms the devoted;

Marc is just making a statement to put an end to a media sensation that does nothing to further our cause, or to spread our message, or to persuade non-believers, or to educate the public. When the media controls what they want to print and show, we have to choose our words and comments carefully.
But remember, we still know this is a holocaust on cannabis users and believers. WE know this. People who do the research know this. But the media, and the general population, do not. Therefore, we have to present our argument in a better way, and using “hot-button” words eliminates any possibility to put forth a discussion on this topic.

Glad that’s been straightened out.

  1. At first I was pissed that the Yanks were able to have him arrested. But after reading his website and listening to the b.s., I say give him to them. They will deal with him far more appropriately than our “milk toast” justice system. And the sooner the better.
    Horny Toad

  2. “[A] holocaust on cannabis users and believers”
    Excuse me?
    COME ON NOW, get serious.
This guy has wasted enough of our time…

  3. Holocaust on Canabis users – coke splat all over the keyboard. These guy’s can’t really be serious. More like proof that people with small brains can’t afford to kill even one brain cell.

  4. GanajMan, Much of what you alude to is out of context.
In any case, as I read it, you protest an opinion. Opinions are not offensive to civilized people who may be open to debate and discussion.
I think the time is approaching when all North American natives will eventually participate in society, paying their share of taxes and not asking for special advantage.
That’s my opinion. Comment if you like, but please don’t knot your panties unduly. It is only an opinion after all. 73s TG
There are more and more Natives in successful business and they are proud to pay their way.

  5. Only one person is responsible for the issue becoming Marc Emery. Marc Emery.
The abusive and hyperbolic nature of those who have been defending him doesn’t help. But if you people are concerned about how your hero is viewed by the average Canadian adult, with kids to raise and taxes to pay – and drug dealers to avoid – then put a muzzle on him. And yourselves.
Cannibis Culture is just one long advertisement for Why Nobody Should Give A F*ck.

  6. GanajMan, You seem very upset about an opinion. I fail to see any reason for your intense undue alarm. After wading through all your declarations of outrage, much of it manufactured and off the mark, it seems you are protesting nothing more than an opinion.
This is a free country. Opinions are allowed. I was expecting something concrete, but you provided nothing material at all.
In future when you get your panties in this tight a knot, I hope there will be a stabbing or at least a hanging involved. In other words, wait till the sky starts falling before announcing it, please. 73s TG

  7. I say give them Emery in exchange for a total refund of the extorted Softwood tariffs!

  8. They say no “hot-button” words in the same paragraph as holocaust?Yup,that’s the old brain cell functioning alright!!If brains were dynamite, they couldn’t blow their noses.

  9. It’s my fault for the holocaust. Though, as I recall I asked for a jihad. Even issued a fatwa.

  10. By his own admission, 80% of Emery’s business was across the border to the USA. By my mind that means the USA has an 80% interest in prosecuting him versus the 20% stake Canada might have.
Emery’s charges are a result of an 18 month DEA investigation, they dont fuck around. There are reprocussions to breaking laws, Emery knew that.
To suggest that Canada should follow Marc Emery’s example of breaking laws and international agreements that it is bound by, is about as silly as saying pot smokers are to the Government of Canada, as Jews were to Nazis in Nazi Germany.
Canada is ruled by the rule of law and our international agreements. Even if our leaders were so incliened to poke Canada’s collective finger in the eye of our biggest trading partner and friends to the south, tearing up treaties, the rule of law, and mutual cooperation, there are much more deserving people out there to do it for than Marc Emery.

  11. Horny Toad is right. We like to export stuff to the U.S. Why not export judicial responsibility. Isn’t Emery from BC? Didn’t I just see, yesterday, on NealeNews that a woman who stabbed her boyfriend to death got 2 years less a day of HOUSE ARREST from a BC judge????
    PEOPLE!!! SHE GOT A CURFEW!!!
Now, when I give my 15 year-old sons curfews, they’ll argue that they’re being treated like murderers.

  12. As has been pointed out, Emery’s spokesman says they will have avoid “hot button” words, but persists in calling law enforcement a “holocaust” against Emery’s brand of law breakers. Last I checked, what Emery has been doing is against the law in Canada, and his biggest trade in done in the US where his business is certainly against the law. As usual, the crime is not being discussed; it has been turned into an American bashing exercise.

  13. To this day Emery has no business license, and WORST OF ALL, people who donate to his legal defense are given a tax credit. WHY ON EARTH IS THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT GIVING TAX CREDITS TO PAY EMERY’S PERSONAL LEGAL EXPENSES?
That is a travesty! Wake up RevCan. Someone should look into this, here’s the smoking gun:
    http://www.cannabisculture.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1134642&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
I’m disgusted with this use of my tax dollars. Just disgusted.

  14. Justthinkin’, gas is as of this afternoon in Saint John $1.30. Was $1.20 this AM.

  15. Since when is “holocaust” not a hot button word? Hilarious response. 🙂 To be fair Jodie has zero experience as an editor. This is a position she recently assumed out of raw financial neccesity, despite obviously having very little natural aptitude for the job.
Not for nothing but I’ve met Jodie, ahem. Let’s just say she is in very little danger of winning a spelling bee anytime soon. Emery and Jodie GR have/had a romantic relationship which is fairly unsavory form an onlooker point of view.
Emery’s jail blog is rife with posts about his herpes, his sexual proclivities, etc. Not exactly David Niven. It’s right there online for anyone who cares to listen. Anyhow let there be no doubt about Jodie’s position in the organization.

  16. John T. Kennedy: I would say it’s enormously stupid to pompously flaunt American anti-drug laws by selling, what was it, $2 or $3 million worth of seeds to Americans.
He made his prison bed. It’s his fault he now lies in it.
The morality is a subjective issue here. The law is objective; he broke it; Canada has an extradition treaty and must honor it, as it’s a recent one germane to contemporary realities, unlike some treaties that were signed centuries ago… (betcha MWW will have to do a Wikipedia page on me, too).
Obiter dictum: Emery seemed to complain of janitorial duties. He has shown his true colors here. He obviously looks down on janitors with elitist disdain. Some egalitarian leftist, he, ain’t he? Why, right after high school, my first job was cleaning the local Sears dept. store… so I really don’t care if that (former) millionaire pothead anti-Semitic leftofascist rots in prison for the rest of his life. *spit*

  17. KKKate hates her http://www.wikpedia.com definition so she is hiding from it! Ask yourself why????
Who is the racist KKKate or the multi-cultural cannabis movement?????
Evrytime Kate Gets press send the press to wikpipedia.com to look up the KKKate of Hate.
KKKate Mcmillian the reprilian fears reality!
Kate McMillan…. has gained something of a reputation for herself for making rather extreme commentary on Aboriginal affairs in Canada
She has proposed that, among other things “Canada needs institutions to lock up the Indian activists and apologists…” screen capture and link
She has also at length discussed her position on wanting Canada to recreate Residential Schools for Indigenous children. Some critics would allege that this is an open endorsement of genocide towards an ethnic group within Canada, in consideration of the history of the Residential Schools within Canada. See [1] and Information About Residential Scholls
Even more curious are her remarks about Angolans in Africa. During the recent crisis in this country, upon the occasion of Angolans in small villages imposing a quarantine on their village, and attacking WHO workers for fear of infection from the deadly plague, Ms. McMillan remarked “Is there a point where we are allowed to stop feeling sympathy for these people, seal off the borders and just let nature take its course?” [2] This remark was wildly discussed and condemned by many Canadians, including Liberal PR master and bon vivant Warren Kinsella.
Ms. McMillan was called an “inspiring friend” by conservative MP Monte Solberg, the opposition finance critic. She is the paid administrator of “The Shotgun”, the on-line blog of the hard-right-of-center magazine Western Standard.
Ms. McMillan also breeds and shows Miniature German Schnauzers and has written articles for the “Vogue” of dog breeding magazines.
She is a member in good standing of the Blogging Tories blogging alliance
Nice Lady eh? I guess her fans agree with this stuff then?
Smoke some weed and feel the racism melt away.

  18. McAllister,

“The morality is a subjective issue here.”

How so? You mean the morality imprisoning a man for selling seeds depends on how you look at it? Would the morality of imprisoning him be subjective if he were selling pencils?

“The law is objective; he broke it;…”

Yes, but laws can be just or unjust can’t they? Aren’t at least some laws unjust? And isn’t it wrong to uphold unjust laws?

“…Canada has an extradition treaty and must honor it,…”

Why don’t you hold the morality of *that* to be equally subjective?

  19. The US refused to extradition to Canada of one of the native warriors from Gustafson Lake incident after he fled to the USA. America breaks treaties left and right, we owe them a few broken treaties.
Plus weed should be legal in the US and the only reason it isn’t is due to whacko Bible Thumpers like Dubya and his gang the American Christian Taliban!

  20. HEY shitforbrains if we didn’t like Kate we wouldn’t be here now would we?? So WTF are you doing! You are uninvited so leave.

  21. Hello Idiot.
When KKKate started slagging Marc she became open game.
Get help with that anger thing BTW…You’ll have an aneurysm.

  22. The trolls running around here continually prove that their beloved dope has rotted their brains. Don’t worry folks, they won’t last long in this world, they eventually destroy their own kind. The drugs are everything to them, and nothing else really matters; they’re doomed. It’s nature’s way. Now watch them wallow in their fear and rage, because they truly have nothing else. The fun begins …

  23. The Wikipedia entry was written by Meaghan Walker-Williams. That was confirmed by the IP address.
Now, apparently these tools didn’t click on the link I posted in a different entry – if they had, they’d have discovered it leads directly to a LINK TO THE SAME WIKIPEDIA ENTRY they’re copying here.
Literacy issues, short attention spans, lack of impulse control, obsessive compulsive behavior, a penchant for taking on multiple personalities … none of this is doing much for the reputation of marijuana use.

  24. Dope trolls! hahaha That explains a lot. Are they like moonbats with ALL their brains smoked out?

  25. Now C’mon Kate. Your attempts at censorship is half assed. Look at some of the posts you left behind.
Again, its not the wikipedia entry. THat was a starting point. It was a search of your blog the revealed your racism. Your view on residential schools is disgusting.

  26. Apparently MWW is here. In the guise of “Truth” (yeah, sure, MWW, sure) and probably “Ujokerz”. What an annoying megalomaniac.
On to Mr. Keneddy: I say that morality is subjective because perhaps you and I have different moral views wrt the Emery matter. Morality, after all, is inherently subjective; it’s not like it’s some sort of precise science.
I would, btw, say that the Librano mob’s election Gag Law is immoral, not to mention totally unconstitutional, notwithstanding what the SCC ruled (bunch of Libranos, they are, anyway).
Morality of keeping your solemnly written legal word: no question. The extradition treaty is relevant and clear. To break that treaty could bring consequences beyond those we’re already suffering for the Libranos’ thumbing of their noses at Uncle Sam in his hour of need of true friendship.
There’s been nothing said by the pot proponents to make the reasonable person think the pot laws are unjust. Ineffective, maybe, but unjust, no. I see no “human right” in the smoking of a brain-numbing plant. Therefore, I see not how the law is unjust. The state here is within its rights. Hey, they banned ephedra, which doesn’t harm the intellect at all.
And, Keneddy, if you think the Libranos are fascists, then don’t vote for them. Simple as that.

  27. Sorry Stephen, your deluded.
Have kate check, my Ip is static. I would never be anyones socket-puppet drone.
If you have enough of an attention span and followed this cross-thread, I’ve stated my identity on a CC forum thread. I’m pretty much a newbie on either the CC or this blog but find it interesting that your comparing me to someone like MWW. Thats alot of notoriety for so few posts.
You know, I almost feel bad for you folks.

  28. “CC”? You mean Cannabis Culture? Why would I bother to go there, let alone study every little detail?
I’m deluded? I was merely saying you sounded a lot like MWW. Perhaps you aren’t, but knowing MWW enough, then again, perhaps you are her. What’s the difference anyway? You certainly fit the mold of the maliciously defamatory left-wing extremist.
Get off the pot. It’s not a human right to smoke it. You don’t need it. You can get high on the good life, like Kate herself. Doesn’t she sound like she feels good most of the time? She doesn’t need to ingest foreign substances like you people do, and neither do I.
Stop calling people the “r” word just because they exercise their Charter-guaranteed right to have their own point of view, which is all Kate ever really does, and the same goes for me. If you don’t like what we say, fine. If you want to libel us, then please fuck right off, okay? Live and let live, whatever happened to that doctrine of you people?
I gotta get my own blog really soon! Can’t wait to put the lefties in their place! I’m quite increasingly excited about it the more I plan it out.

  29. You lose the argument when you compare your opponent to Hitler or your cause to holocaust victimhood….totally void of merit and the act of a man with no rational argument left. Emery is a very incongruent and inebriate spokes-thingie for the pot heads.
I don’t think Emery desrves the attention he gets from either the media or the authorities. My skin crawls when I see the leviathan send it’s army of flying monkeys after some little nobody who is hiding in the open. Why has the state north and south of the 49th lavished all this draconian intimidation on a small time pot groupie? When you see the state killing flys with a sledgehammer you know they are trying to impress all the other flys with their power…..why?
Is it because they’re largely powerless to catch the larger quarry in the drug wars?
This Emery media circus makes a lovely theatrical presentation for the DEA and the Dudleys to justify their jobs but what is their record like for busting drug kingpins? That’s the real rub isn’t it?
The druds that are destriying lives and cultures are in wide circulation…hell you can even get prime samples in prision. Big money and connected racteers are the importers and investors in the manufacturing of the really dangerous drugs. Whay haven’t we seen any major drug lords put through the same thing Emery is undergoing?
This is a question that goes unanswered. If we are going through the pretense of having a drug enforcement program that eats millions of tax dollars a year are we not entitled to se results that are meaningful and not just hokey theatrical busts of mail order pot seed salesmen?

  30. I love it when I see someone call someone else a rascist.
The rascist is always totally kicking the name callers ass in a fair debate.
It’s the new debating worlds “Tap Out”.

  31. Millions of Canadians and americans use cannabis now with he laws in their current state and do so without paying any taxes on it. Why would a bunch of non pot smokers be so against a tax that they wouldnt have to pay? Eighty years of prohibition have only seen a steady rise in use, so it can’t be about trying to prevent harm. Why would the state have such an interest in demonizing and scapegoating a peaceful, non-violent section of our society? Jesus told us to “love thy neighbor”, not spy on or persecute them. It would be far more productive to regulate and tax this industry, taking the considerable gains out of the hands of organized crime and into government coffers, where they could be used for true drug education and health care services.
Jesus is our saviour and He will return to protect us from your persecutions. I hope those of you who would condemn our brother Marc Emery to the torturous US prison system for selling pot seeds are ready to face the one true judge, and face the consequences for your hatred. Do you really think God made a mistake when he created cannabis and gave it to mankind?

  32. Jesus is coming back?
    Sweet!
Jesus and Emery can have a kickass bong-hitting competition. The loser can no longer refer to himself as the chosen one.

  33. “deleted form letter from Chris Bennett, who has been banned from this site for abuse of privilages.”
What are you talking about? Kate who the hell is Chris Bennett????

  34. I think I can be moderate here. Should people be thrown in jail for smoking ANYTHING? No conservative should say so. You should have read Mills right?
If you really think that people should do time for ingesting something than you aren’t really a classical liberal. And most of us claim we are.
So the pot activists have a point that nobody can deny. Essentially they are right. If you are a true conservative, you should respect that right. All of us understand “do no harm” right?
Kate, do you believe in that philosophy? Someone can inject heroin right in their veins and I don’t give a fuck. Do you?
We can mock all these morons, they deserve to be mocked. but really, do you not agree that people shouldn’t be thrown in jail for harmless activities?

  36. I would prefer to have the DEA stay home and find new work. The money could be used for schools, social services, helping the poor, science in the service of mankind, environmental improvements, the arts or anything worthwhile. Still the DEA will cry: “Are there no workhouses. Are there no prisons?” just as Scooge did. Wasted resources support a very cruel appetite to wage war against peaceful people. Use the police resources to fight violent crime, domestic assault, rape, child abuse, criminal harrassment and gangs. That would be common sense but somehow there isn’t much of that to go around.
