A Fraser Institute release; Accounting for Gomery: The Money Links Between the Federal Government, Political Parties, and Private Interests;
The people identified in various reports and Gomery inquiry testimony fall into two groups: politicians and bureaucrats (government insiders) and political party members and business people (government outsiders). This report finds that they collectively donated at least 40 times more to the Liberal party than to all of the other main political parties combined from 1993 to 2003. In other words, over 98 percent of these donations were made to the Liberal party.
The numbers of people and amounts of money involved in the Gomery inquiry are also much larger than previously known.
For example, only 71 organizations and individuals were identified in the original 2003 Auditor General’s sponsorship and advertising report, while this study identifies at least 565.
This report also finds that these insiders and outsiders privately donated at least $3.9 million to the Liberal party and received at least $7.4 million in private payments from the Liberal party from 1993 to 2003. The official Gomery inquiry forensic report, by comparison, found only $2.5 million in Liberal party donations.
The complete publication is here.

What else is there to say? This really illustrates the fact that the Liberal Party of Canada is a criminal organization doesn’t it? Of course most of your readers already knew this. What does this say of the big money people who back them financially? The Power Corp. group of individuals. The Strongs , Desmarais, etc. And this goes all the way up to the top of the UN.
I’m getting to the point where I’d favour a ten foot wall around all of Western Canada, open only at the top and the bottom.
This is an important study. They are using the same methodology found in the bestseller book, Freakonomics. I highly recommend you all read the book. Numbers Do Not LIE!!
This framework was used to uncover cheating teachers in the Chicago School Board and other kinds of issues.
A related and older model, caled the Trust Model, was used to debunk any defence of Nazi soldiers who used the I had no choice I was “following orders” defence. It showed the beenfits of collaberation and how people were implicated by willingly becoming involved in these schemes.
I fully expect the Liberal spin machine to call this “right Wing Voodoo” or “pointy headed analysis that proves nothing” (remeber da proof is da proof is da proof)
I want to emphasize this is VERY VALID and INSIGHFUL analysis. This study is very important, too bad it didnt get presented at Gomery.
The quote says it best “This was no rogue operation” It was intentional, widespread and deliberate. Any reasonable person who reads this study comes to that conclusion. Now it is up to the PR machines to get the messages out there. Remeber this isnt some wonky model, a well respected and used model in the world of economics. Read Freakonomics, it is brief and well written, no formulas, and you’ll see what I mean.
Thank you fraser Institute..
John,
Quebec is putting up a firewall, it’s named: Vote for Bloc to stop Liberals.
We want want one in the Maritimes but are waiting for ACOA to approve the grant.
That leaves Onscario.
It’s unfortunate the Auditor General can’t go all the way back to when PM Lester Pearson appointed Maurice Strong as founding director of the Canadian International Development Assistance Program(CIDA). Considering Adscam is the tiniest tip of the iceberg, the Liberals display of wanting to stay in power at any cost,(NDP budget, buying votes, etc.)is a clue to how deep the corruption probably goes. I hope if the CPC wins a majority in the next election they call for a complete audit of everything, including the 6 billion of “our” money that is residing in “foundations” that the AG is unable to audit(what are they hiding?).
I don’t believe the CPC or any other party but the Liberals will ever win another election in Canada. The Liberals were scared by their near-death experience in May, and are determined that it will never happen again. They’ll never allow another party to take over from them. If it ever looks like it’s coming close again, we’ll have some sort of “Parliament Hill Fire” to blame on the opposition, declare an emergency, and shut down normal politics for all time. This is it – we’re in the hands of fascists, and they’ll never willingly let go.
Wanda: At one time I would have said your comments are garbage and you are a nutbar but now I’m not so sure you aren’t correct. Me? I’ve reached the point where I agree with John Crittenden’s last paragraph of the initial posting on this thread.
Westerner: well, a year ago, I’d have said the same thing of such a theory. My “radicalization” is of very recent date – since the Parliament Hill spectacle of May, to be exact. Before that, I thought that it would be a slow climb, but perseverence and hard work would bring about the usual change of government eventually – maybe not this time, but surely next time. No more. This had the effect on me that 9/11 had on the Americans – the realization that all the old rules we assumed were shared by all and unchangeable, no longer existed. I no longer look at elections as opportunities to change the direction the country is going. That’s an outdated assumption, like the old assumption that votes in Parliament counted for something, and that governments recognized standards and limitations on themselves. I see now that I was wrong. And the holding and respecting of elections is as much as custom as the rules of Parliament – it’s equally dependent on notions of honour and self-restraint, and so it’s equally invalid now.
Albertans are quite laid back as compared to most Americans. But they are just as individualistic and proud. I know, I’ve lived in Calgary for much of my life, with 15 years spent on the shore of a lake in central BC raising my family and painting. Unlike many artists I have never applied for or accepted a grant of any kind, or welfare, or, for that matter, UI. I wanted to “do it on my own” and I have. You gotta have an attitude to do that when your competition is living off government grants and getting accepted into public shows that would not accept you because you “weren’t on the list”.
The reason I’m saying all this is that, even though Albertans are an easy going kind of people, they can get riled up. And when they do, look out. If the majority of Albertans decided to separate there will be no stopping them, and Ottawa could “go to hell”. It will be shoot first (figuratively speaking) and talk later.
If this report is indeed correct, and IF, (a big IF), the CPC gets the word out and IF (again, a big IF) the MSM carries the message, then it will be game over for the Liberals. Then, if the CPC does not win the next election, you can bet your house on the fact that Alberta will vote for separation within a year.
If the MSM lets this pass and doesn’t make a big story out of it remember, Alberta is a big province, but it’s not that big. Town hall meetings can be set up to make contact with almost every single resident and they will vote for separation. They will. Count on it.
And I will help with those meetings. This has gone way too far.
Once again, thanks for a great post Kate. I had read it first on Neale and then noticed you were the first to post. Good for you.
Actually, the Fraser Institute sent it directly to me.
Waiting for Gomery: The Fraser Institute’s Take
Yesterday the Fraser Institute released a report on the Gomery Inquiry testimony. It summarizes most (if not all) of the financial links between individuals and organizations identified by the Inquiry and the Liberal Party of Canada. Allow me to quot…
A note on numbers and Freakanomics. Numbers don’t lie, but if you ignore some numbers, the results are not accurate (GIGO). This is the case with his correlation of abortion and crime, or parental involvement and child performance on tests. He didn’t address data out there that undermines his claim.
However, 98%? That is jaw-dropping.
Fraser sent the report directly to SDA. This is worth repeating: Fraser Institute sent the report directly to a blogger; bypassing the MSM, the CBC/CTV/Global, Abnormal, & the whole shebango of Red Tories? Old cliche: the tide has turned.
Bloggers are riding the wave!!!!
Onward, onward, happy warriors all: On with the conservative revolution.
Down with Socialism.
Long live freedom and democracy.
Look at page 12. Personal donations by Jean Chretien and Paul Martin are included in table 3 as identified from Gomery testimony.
Both donated to the Bloc Quebecois — Chretien $500, Martin $1145.
This ALONE should have the MSM screaming bloody murder. What in the name of hell are two prime ministers doing giving political donations of ANY amount to the separatist party? How can they sit there and blather on about Harper endangering the country when they’re actually BQ DONORS?
Every time I think we can’t possibly reach a new low, the bottom falls out again.
Some problems here, folks.
The Fraser Institute has always been identified by the Eastern media as a “CONSERVATIVE THINK TANK”. If we expect the MSM to grant any credence to this report, we have to expect them to change an ingrained opinion of the Institute itself.
Ain’t gonna happen.
Ian in NS: Chretien and Martin donating to the BQ… I can’t wait to see Warren Kinsella and Scott Reid put some spin on that.
The evidence just keeps on piling up. I’m beginning to wonder now: Is the relevance of the MSM fading? Information is given directly to SDA, where apparently it will be given all proper and due treatment.
Is this a new beginning in terms of the complete, fair and balanced dissemination of information to the people? Today, us thoughtful, conservative citizens who care about what actually matters; tomorrow, the other side– (those who bought into all the “liberal”/hollywood irrelevant, false, anarchistic Tinky Winky psychobabble)– will be faced with an MSM under new ownership and management.
That’s right, folks: the day will have to come when the newsmedia transfers ownership and control to those qualified for the job: the people- the brightest, most honest, providing the populace with germane bits of brain nutrition for which they’ve long been starved half to death.
Of course, by “the people”, I mean by way of private investment by any number of individuals, plus intelligent, truthful newsgatherers and reporters, NOT state ownership and Librano propaganda! Just wanted to prevent misapprehension… we surely don’t need another CBC, or even one!
By the way, “Old Squid”, we really must quit caring about the opinion of the MSM on anything. Only the individual citizen’s opinion matters. The MSM is just pissing all over us and trying to make us believe it’s a really terrible monsoon.
You also mentioned Warren Kinsella and Scott Reid, the verbal hitmen of Librano dons Jean and Paul, respectively. Those mad champions of foul, hot air dispensation are doing a great disservice to Canada and Canadians with their blatant, shameful slanders and slurs against us good people. Anyone got chocolate milk? A big fat bananna cream pie? At least a Barney doll in a gym bag? Those crybabies could use the comfort food and a cuddly little creature to soothe them and make them shut the bloody hell up!
Bedard’s boyfriend arrested
MONTREAL (CP) – The boyfriend of Olympic gold medallist Myriam Bedard was arrested Wednesday in the alleged theft of paintings valued at $100,000, Quebec provincial police said.

We fail to consider CASH donations-because they can’t be traced. (small denomination unmarked bills in plain envelope, SVP).
The Fraser institute report seems to have caused some hand wringing and dispair.
Well all is not lost. There are some good results out of this latest session of the house.
Looks like Whistle-Blower Bill C-11 is now beefed up to be effective and deemed most important by Tory MP Leon Benoit. It is the front page of eight pages of what was done during this house session. at;-

The article lists the bills that were adopted / Royal Assent – in progress and the two that were defeated.
This gives you a sort of program for when the house resumes in the fall. BendGovt.blog.ca 73s TG
Stephen McAllister wrote, in response to Old Squid, that “we really must quit caring about the opinion of the MSM on anything.” I wish we could, but for millions of voters the mainstream media is where they get their sense of the political process in Canada. And since the various media choose to gloss over or ignore Liberal corruption, it is no suprise that craven and arrogant behaviour has been institutionalized in the party.
The Fraser report, in a welcome but suprising turn, also referred to the (lack of) effect of the media on Liberal actions. “There were also specific conflicts of interest involved in the financial relationships between the Liberal party and a number of organizations, including the RCMP (and others) that have not yet been adequately reported on in the media.” And, referring to the information submitted at Gomery, “Inside this sea of information, there was little apparent media interest in analyzing two reports commissioned by (the Liberals)..”
As little interest as possible, in some cases. The Liberals have not only been given a free pass at the most critical times, particularly by the CBC, but their activites have actually been supported in the name of fighting Conservatism and separatism. And as the Fraser report said, “Pervasive and sustained misallocation of taxpayer funds is more likely to reoccur if such activites are socially tolerated”.
We are a tolerant nation, with a tolerant media.
EBD Guess you are correct about the tolerant nation bit, but I suspect a lot of that tolerance is apathy. Too bad.
There are some useful media out there. Not all of it is MSM. A few are….

EBD, of course, “must” and “can” are not the exact same thing. I was merely suggesting what all citizens ought to do. Of course, we cannot ignore the lies and manipulations of the MSM, for we conservatives do still have to counter them with the truth and should not be timid about it.
“Tolerant nation”? Unfortunately not quite. I have not fallen for that myth. I have seen the “tolerance” of left-wing bigotry and violence exhibited by the state and the media as well as the guillible masses. After all, it seems to have in recent years become politically correct, even a “Canadian value”, as Libs call it, to be intolerant of Israel and America as well as of the Judeo-Christian faith. The left, the Libranos and the media happily and proudly demonstrate this intolerance.
Remember, prejudice originates from being told what to think by those with whom one associates and by those one trusts to inform them. The state, the media and ordinary people, mostly on the left, are therefore responsible for the spread of intolerance in Canada as well as all over the world.
Really. It is not plausibly deniable, what I said above. Just open your eyes and think for yourself.
Oh, wait… I re-read your comment, EBD, and realize I read it too quickly, a nasty habit of mine in the morning before going off to make my money.
Did you actually mean tolerance in the ironic sense? You pointed out that the MSM and the general population are tolerant of the crimes of the state as we’ve seen in Adscam etc.
But anyway, what I said about intolerance being something the left practices with impunity , I stand by.
Sorry, Stephen, my cynicism has been affecting my communication skills. The Fraser report said that corruption is more likely to occur is it is socially tolerated. My “tolerant nation” statement was referring to our habit as a nation to congratulate ourselves constantly on our “tolerance”, and I meant “tolerant media” to refer to the way that our media tolerates Liberal corruption.
I couldn’t agree with you more about the left’s intolerance for those who disagree with their agenda.
Right, EBD. Plus, what’s ironic to me is that lefties used to tell me to be open-minded and tolerant and all that, but they really don’t practice what they preach. Today, after the murder of innocents in London, I am reminded of why I ignore leftists now.
The LEFT, AND THE ISLAMOFASCISTS can KISS MY rock-hard, Franco-Teutonic-Irish ASS!
Please excuse my quite strong language. These terrorists truly infuriate me!
