Upon reviewing the 1400+ emails that arrived while I was away, I regret to announce that I received two of a negative nature. The first was from one Roger M Roeder. Mr. Roeder had engaged in a debate with another reader and was so offended with his own comments thread that he’s publicly threatening to delink SDA because of it.
The second offered this critique; ” …when it comes to the substitutes you picked, I think you did a really poor job. Had they been politically otherwise oriented I could have lived with it [..] I really hope I don’t come as close as I did as this time to deleting your bookmark.”
Well, then.
Let it not be said that I am too stubborn to consider suggestions as to how I might improve or tweak the blog to fulfill the personal needs of each reader. I acknowledge it is no longer sufficient to entertain others for free in this day and age. Indeed, I’ve been inconsiderate in overlooking something that every blogger who writes for the pure enjoyment of doing so should offer their readers – a complaints department.
To that end, this afternoon I revised the previous complaints mechanism. The new and improved version is now outlined in the SDA Compaints Manual (3rd edition, approved June14, 2005). In order to have your complaint considered by the SDA Standing Committee for Complaints the following protocols must be adhered to. Not adhering to these protocols may result in a dismissal of your complaint without a hearing. The relevant portions are exerpted below;
a. In a business sized envelope, include a $50 deposit (which will be refunded if your complaint is upheld), your return address and phone number where you can be reached. Mail to the address provided.
b. Write the details of your complaint on plain white paper.
c. Fold the paper neatly in half, and then in half again.
d. With your left hand, press said paper against your forehead.
e. Using a hammer and four (4) 2″ galvanized nails, secure it firmly at each corner.
When you have submitted notarized documentation that establishes that the above procedures have been met, the SDA Standing Committee for Complaints may consider your concerns.
But not too f*cking likely.

Thank you Bill: I think I could’ve misunderstood Kate’s post, in that it appeared that out of 1400 emails, only 2 were negative. In the whole context, it was not, perhaps as much of an over reation as I thought because was reacting to a bigger issue.
And yes, our blogs are our own, to do with as we see fit. That said, I’ve watched the high-handed moral arrogance of moonbats, and the extreme religious right, which I used to be part of, for so long, that I react in the way you saw.
This all goes to prove, I suppose, that Conservatives, Libertarians, and Canadian Patriots are a the real “rainbow coalition”
I have now become a blog-hog, so I will shut up. TK
It’s Kate’s blog, she can run it as she sees fit. That includes telling complainers to go pee up a rope. It was a smart move inviting guest bloggers to keep content fresh – good for SDA, and IMHO, it was enjoyable experiencing the fresh breeze. While I missed Kate’s posts and style, I met some new bloggers, had a few chuckles, and looked forward to Kate’s return. Life goes on…
I agree with Shaken, WL and Debris Trail. However, if another blogger dislikes your posts and wants to de-link you, who cares. If you received a negative comment about your guest bloggers, who cares. Your solution to their dissent, whether tongue in cheek or not, is in my opinion, an over-reaction. Tell these guys to make sure the door doesn’t hit them in the ass on the way out and don’t buy into their bullying.
You say that you can post whatever you want without responsibility to your readers because it is your blog and we are reading on your dime. In the next breath you voice concern about being charged under the hate crimes provisions.
You are very conservative and have a large following. You also post on many other sites like The Shotgun, which is an extension of a major corporate enterprise.
In my opinion, you do have a responsibility as to what you post because of your large readership and the influence you garner from it. And don’t be so naive to think that as your site grows, you will not run the risk of being monitored by many who are for or against you. (Andrew Coyne springs to mind)
Your blog is well beyond just being a chat room where the guys and girls go to shoot the shit over coffee!
“See ya in the funny papers. You’re gone from my reading list.”
Well, for each Moonbat lost, another interested reader is gained! I’ve now added you to my “must read” list, for what it is worth. Thanks for sharing your site with us.
To DebrisTrail, I agree that a person who dishes it out does indeed need to be able to take it, but you are not required to provide a forum to allow idiots to attack you. If they want to say something negative-let ’em get their OWN blog! 🙂
Jeesh!
What an infantile display of:
“You said that!!!”
“No I didn’t YOU did!!!”
“No I didn’t YOU did!!!”
“DID NOT!!!”
“DID!!!!”
“DOUBLE DID NOT!!!!!!!!!!!”
“DID, DID, DID, DOUBLE DID”
Laughable

Seeing as Angry has weighed in with his view of things, I should probably do the same. Here goes:
I’m too sexy for my shirt
too sexy for my shirt
So sexy it hurts
And I’m too sexy for Milan
too sexy for Milan
New York and Japan
And I’m too sexy for your party
Too sexy for your party
No way I’m disco dancing
I think that about says it all.
Hey Monty! Jeff G. has a gift for you on his blog (June 13, 2:23 PM). Enjoy!
It saddens me that some of Kate’s readers attacked her chosen stand-ins for the crime of Not Being Kate.
It saddens me more that some people were offended when they came here and the views expressed weren’t exactly what they expected.
Isn’t diversity of opinion a good thing?
Giving the keys to clones would be easy. To her credit, Kate chose to challenge we, the freeloaders by offering a diversity of voices. That was her pre-stated plan, dorks.
I enjoy your blog, Kate. Thanks.
I have to post this. I just have to.
I know, I suck at taking breaks. Sue me.
I’ve been sitting on this post for quite some time now, and I’m posting it now, thanks to Kate. She has lifted my aggravation at blogging considerably with this post, where she basically–and rightfully–…
Kate,
I’ve never been here before, just clicked through from Beth over at MVRWC. I read your entry, and then your comments, and heh.
I used to (years ago) have the notion that pointing out what was offensive or wrong in the way other people behave/speak/think was an effective way to go about life. I thought I was lending a helping hand! Trying to better the world!
Then I went conservative, were real liberty actually exists. I’m basically just commenting for your entertainment, to tell you RIGHT ON, because it’s your blog, your domain, your bandwidth, and you can do whatever the hell you want with it. If I like it, I’ll read it, if I don’t, I won’t. That’s the joy of FREEDOM, you can do what you wanna do (blog, I’m guessin’) and I can do what I wanna do (click random links in friends blogs, once in a while), and the world stays a happy place right?
As if I’m telling you something you don’t already know. 😛
Have fun today!
Kate, this is why I soooo love reading your blog. You go girl!
Remarkable.
I’m always flabbergasted when I read garbage like this: “See ya in the funny papers. You’re gone from my reading list” from humorless trolls like Paul.
I would like to say a fat thank you to Kate and folks like Goldstein (PW) who spend their $$$ on bandwidth and creativity entertaining the rest of us slack-jawed gawkers who have no right to demand anything of them.
We’ve got a country to save up here PTH.
Guys like Canadian hater JeffG are nothing but insulting smart-assed little wieners who like to piss people off for no good reason except that it pumps up their pencil necked ego. In the end it ALL ends up:
“You said that!!!”
“No I didn’t YOU did!!!”
“No I didn’t YOU did!!!”
“DID NOT!!!”
“DID!!!!”
“DOUBLE DID NOT!!!!!!!!!!!”
“DID, DID, DID, DOUBLE DID”
Laughable and pathetic.

Manifesto
What she said²
I think all those extra exclamation points are adorable, Monty. Reminds me of the love letters I used to get in summer camp.
Now if you could just figure out how to turn the “o” in your name into a heart, you’d officially be a 13-year old girl.
Monty –
Is it true that every Canadian primary school boy loses his virginity to a moose?
…and Monty is that moose.
Sweet. Thanks for the laugh.
(& the new bookmark)
I don’t think Monty is quite hung enough to be that moose, Karl. And I don’t think he has the staying power for one cabin, much less the whole summer camp.
Ooooooh what witty retorts girls!
I’m just…spellbound
“DID NOT!!!”
“DID!!!!”
“DOUBLE DID NOT!!!!!!!!!!!”
“DID, DID, DID, DOUBLE DID”
ROTFL!
Hey monty and all you other shitslurpers:
You’re getting free candy. And it’s damn fine candy, both here and at the respective homes of Kate’s guest bloggers. Don’t bitch like a little…ummm…bitch, I guess, if – on a rare occasion – you happen to get Skittles instead of your usual steady diet of cherry Nibs.
Sure Nibs are great, but they’re just Nibs. Every time you eat them. There’s more out there!
TASTE THE RAINBOW, BITCHES!
Upon further review, that last post was a little bitch-heavy. I’ll mix it up in the future. Especially if I can come up with a unique new term for monty and paul’s special brand of selfish, egocentric, petulant bitchiness. Bitches.
I don’t think Monty is quite hung enough to be that moose, Karl. And I don’t think he has the staying power for one cabin, much less the whole summer camp.
I believe the meese are the catchers (or “goalies,” in Canadian parlance), so the microscopic size of Monty’s junk is irrelevant.
Ooooh another witty retort!!
LOL!
Oh I forgot…
TAG YOUR IT!!
ROTFL!
American idiots
Sing along now Bill…ROTFL!!!
“American Idiot”
“Don’t wanna be an American idiot.
Don’t want a nation under the new mania.
And can you hear the sound of hysteria?
The subliminal mind fuck America.
Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alienation….”
Positively spellbound Gomer!
“Laughable and pathetic.”
I know you are, but what am I?
Have to admire Monty…he really does recognize childishness when staring it in the face in a mirror, right? I just suddenly have this overwhelming desire to give him an atomic wedgie…
Yo Monty! In old Western movies there’s often a scene where some crusty old cowboys amuse themselves by shooting bullets at the feet of some rube who’s such a queer little bird that he sticks around and dances while others laugh at him. Monty, the rube is you.
Did Monty really just call people childish and then quote Green Day lyrics?
“Information nation of hysteria.
It’s going out to idiot America.”
Consider poor Monty, the self-styled font of wisdom who does not know the difference between “your” and “you’re”. Oh, Canada, with such soldiers you do battle.
Ooooooooh good one! ROTFL!!
“Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alien nation.
Everything isn’t meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We’re not the ones who’re meant to follow.
Well that’s enough to argue.
Don’t wanna be an American idiot.
One nation controlled by the media.
Information nation of hysteria.
It’s going out to idiot America.”
Monty, I have to admit I’m new to the blogosphere and its norms, but I wasn’t aware that this endless reciting of lyrics was considered an effective counter-argument to the points made above.
Or are you advertising that you’re willing to do requests? “Fade to Black,” maybe, or one of those Ray Stevens novelty songs?
Monty is getting tiresome.
He might take that as a hint.
“Monty is getting tiresome.
He might take that as a hint.”
He MIGHT…but that would be assuming he has the capacity for rational thought. We haven’t seen any proof of that yet. It would be a welcome change.
Can I borrow $50?
Oh God, another moanblog. If you don’t like an e-mail someone sends you, most modern e-mail clients have a big shiny (usually red) DELETE button. Left-clicking it is a much quicker way of solving your problem.

Why wasn’t I invited to the party while you were gone?
Oh, yeah, that’s right, you didn’t want controversy……….
The Importance of Manners.
At the The Cotillion, the debutantes are well schooled in the art of savoir faire, a proper phrase encompassing the knowledge and practice of good manners, As F.Scott Fitzgerald would say, our members are “as cool as [our] white dresses”…
