I Want A New Country

Patrick Moore;

Canada appears headed for a train wreck due to the widening chasm on energy, climate and finance policy between Alberta and Ottawa. It is possible that no combination of voting outcomes in the October 21 federal election can prevent the breakup of the federation.

Canada has been described as “a road from Ottawa to Montreal and back again”, a blunt reference to the fact that when Ontario and Quebec agree on something, the rest of us are chopped liver. This has given rise over the years to the angst known as western alienation. It has presently reached a boiling point like no other time in our history.

  1. And zero Eastern Canadian Media has mentioned this.

    Zero.

Of course, the Liberal record has been off limits also.

Just another election stolen for the Liberals by their Media.

    Plus ca change……

    1. Although I would caution that the Media Party playbook:

-always uses polls that are Liberal friendly, if not outright fraudulent
      – makes sure the last week of the campaign always is whack-a-mole Tory
-saves a big anti-Tory story for the last weekend
      – tries to instill the message that the Liberals are winning

This is, after all, Canada……….Home of the Big Fix.
Where everything is fixed(name me one thing that isn’t), so believing the polls or the Media Party is just not sensible.
It’s Canada……….Scheer could be way ahead, Max could be PM……Lying is the Canadian Establishment way!

    2. Dr Moore tweeted that he had offered this editorial to all major Canadian print outlets and they all declined because it was “too inflammatory”.

      1. Yet they continually print articles that Quebec is upset and needs more money. Canadians are going to be so blindsided if Alberta goes UDI and does not negotiate, just tells Ottawa to get out of Alberta now.

  2. Yet there were many who fought against the leader from Saskatchewan- Conservative Leader for a Quebec Leader – now Canada is at worst possible predicament— I really wish people understand and put known outcomes over egotistical desires.

Never make perfect the enemy of good allowing evil to win.

    1. Yet the Saskatchewan leader is a milquetoast CINO loser who gets most fired up about attacking the PPC rather than the LPC. This election ought to have been a slam dunk for any semi-competent CPC leader, and instead the party foisted this Ottawa insider on us. Any wonder the base is so disgusted with the party? They ought to just rebrand themselves the Progressive Conservatives again and be done with it already.

If anything good comes out of this election, Scheer will have knives in his back by morning. I suspect he won’t, because the party will just claim any increase in seat count (and that they’ll get) as a positive thing, attributable to Scheer’s strong leadership, blah blah blah vomit. And we’ll all get to choose to vote for him – or not – again in 18 months or so when this coming hung Parliament collapses.

    2. Hey Manny why did you stop tweeting did your kinsella bucks dry up?

I dont have egotistical desires in my vote and realized Sheer is on the same page as Trudeau for all major issues other than gun control even before Max quit the party.

As an Albertan I’ve voted CPC/reform my whole life and before PPC was formed I was planning on voting Trudeau over Sheer just to speed up the process of getting Alberta out of the federation.

So cash your last kinsella check today and watch the cpc party get dismantled after and lib ndp coalition puts the last nail in this country’s coffin.

      1. Tyler I have nothing to do with Kinsella— we are opposites— except we, unlike you, knew that Trudeau is destructive to Canada- I was banned off twitter just before the election back on in few days. I knew this is what w’d happen to strong conservative voices. Best part of being off Twitter is not seeing the hate and racism from PPCs- you guys are destroying Canada with your hate and ignorance of Canada’s electoral history. Why not get out of your hate bubble. Talk to others and you’ll realize Canada is 70% progressive— you only weaken Canada. Being stubborn and tough gets you a progressive coalition that will further destroy Canada. Good work

        1. Manny

Kindly explain what you mean by PPC HATE and RACISM Manny…???
Explain and show me examples. Are we talking about PPC’s attitude to Mass Unfettered Migration….?? or to the willfull importation of 10’s of thosands of Syrian, Nigerian, Libyan so called Refugees..? or to the current Immigration ministers plan to increase “immigration” of these same follks to the tune of 1+ million per year..?? Yet not one South African Farmer, All of whom are all under seige gets a pass..??

TELL ME there is no ulterior motive here.??

I used to respect your tweets before I got banned…..gonna have to rethink my attitude towards what now looks like just another Blinded Eastern Socialist spouting off about diversity and other progressive UN Derived BS.

Do us a favour and Stay in Ottawa.

    3. It is the left that puts outcomes ahead of reason and logic. They actually think that if they have enough power to take everyone’s wealth, they can turn all the money into a society where everyone has exactly the same outcome in whatever they do.

However, whatever you do will be severely limited by the enormous reduction in job opportunities under the yoke of a communist style totalitarian system that is coming to Canada with the help of the Chinese that Turdoo and the left admire so greatly.

What most of will be doing is lining up for toilet paper and bread.

  3. I think the only politician in Canaduh that could keep it in one piece would have to be a Nationalist, as opposed to a Globalist. The Globalists want all of that oil for their Global Communist Caliphate. If a Globalist gets elected today. we are going to have to leave Canaduh to survive. The UN would have old stock Canadians in Alberta overrun with sub-Saharan and Muslim immigrants, Liberal voters all. The ONLY NATIONALIST in this race is Max Bernier and the PPC, but the vilification by the Sponsored Liberal Media Party may prove to be too much fake news, to save Canaduh. Albertans all over the province will start working towards succession tomorrow.

    1. Oldtimer

Been at that since Dec 24th 1981.
But I do believe that what Pierre started is now being finished off by the drip off “someones” dick…not necssarily Pierres.

Jason Kenney had a pretty good Speech on Thursday last week – Nailed it. And I would note he spoke for near 35 min without so much as 2 glances at his notes..Contrary tot he 2 bit trust fund punk.

We are in deep shit folks. I sense a Constitutional Challenge…the question becomes, how Fkn long will that take in our Liberalized and Politicized SCOC..?? I dont trust that gang of Socialist Liberal garbage to ever find in favour of Alberta.

As such & IMO, UDI is truly, the only way forward.

      1. UDI no SCOC, no negotiation, no UN treaties, no Indian Treaties, No RCMP jurisdiction no Clarity Act BS.. Each man and woman of legal voting age gets 1 vote. 50% plus1 and gone.

      2. Please, just shut up. Kenney isn’t going to do anything.

For future reference; FORMING DISCUSSION GROUPS IS NOT FIGHTING.

        GIVING SPEECHES IS NOT FIGHTING.

STRONGLY WORDED LETTER TO THE EDITOR IS NOT FIGHTING.

Not withstanding clause; Quebec uses it all the time. The weapon is there. Moe, Kenney, Pallister, they all could have gone nuclear with it by now. But they haven’t, have they.

Could have already called a referendum on separation. But they haven’t, have they.

If separation actually happens, and Kenney is in charge, expect a channelling of Theresa May.

    2. I know precious little about Canada’s politics, short of what I read on these pages – thank you, my friends. However, this piece by Patrick Moore just taught me EVERYTHING I need to know about Canada’s myriad political parties … the PPC is the ONLY Political Party in Canada that promises to withdraw from Paris Climate Agreement. That’s it. IMHO there is only ONE Political Party I support in Canada … the PPC.

MY President ran on a platform which called out climate change, writ large as a FRAUD. He was elected POTUS despite his “denial”. Have courage Canada! Don’t be manipulated by Socialists … using … FRAUD to nick $B’s off the taxpayers.

And let me add that I have NEVER been a “single issue voter” … for ex. abortion. However, climate change poses an existential to every human on the planet. No, not the way you think. The existential threat is by using FRAUD to destroy Western civilization and Free market capitalism. CAGW is being used as a destroyer of all we’ve built.

      1. The problem with Bernier is that his positions change. Noone knows if he really would scrap the Paris “accord.”

And he is for Quebec, first and last.

  4. This election is the most crucial we’ve had in memory. We have reason to be very concerned about the outcome.

Who do you suppose funded Greta to come here to scold us during our election period? She just happened to have an electric car with a New York licence plate donated for her use. I suggest she go to China and talk about pollution.

Why did former president Obama endorse Trudeau? Was he asked to do so? Was his endorsement free?
People need to ask themselves what Obama did for Canada during Trudeau’s term in Office?

If this is not outside interference in our election what is?

    1. I’ll bet that endorsement was not free. Very unusual. Having said that, Trudeau and Obama are both part is the Soros globalist cabal, so maybe Obama was given instructions by his handlers to endorse.

    2. He won’t endorse sleepy/sleazy Joe, his sidekick for 8 years but he endorses the stupidest worst PW ever.

    3. and LizJ, why the hell did you and a 100,000 others not message the consevative party and demand they get rid of scheep. You have been in here pushing vote for cons to get rid of turdough, we got rid of PatDick brown late in the cycle and got Ford.Don’t complain when people like you , the colon, and many others in here did SFA to get rid of the jerkoff scheep

    4. Liz

There are some very wealthy ELITISTS on this planet that see Canada as being Ripe for the picking – set up so by Gerald Butts (He, being a fav of the Rothschilds)…pick your favourite Globalist POS as to who paid and who sojourned Obama and gang.
This is a full court press to DESTROY this country.

  5. Memo to all western separatists, get a move on, take action that will be effective. If you can’t influence the moron socialists then separate. You will at least give those of us who want a sane country a place to go.

  6. As of this writing we are about 15 hours from a push for Alberta independence. It really doesn’t matter who wins, or if it’s a majority, because somewhere down the road a leftist government will get elected and put its boot heel on the neck of Albertan’s again. The only thing this election will do is motivate more westerners to get out of this madhouse. Province before country. #Wexit #ABexit

    1. Yep, my bet is that Kenny will make a formal request that Alberta gets the same transfer of power and programs from Ottawa as Quebec. Alberta taking its share of the CPP alone will have a noticable impact the rest of Canada. Then start of series of votes to start the separation movement rolling.

We have a rich political history of creating reform and protest political parties that spread like a prairie wildfire. Anyone who lives here sees and smells the smoldering smoke of anger and frustration. We are but spark away from the next wave of PrairieWest history.

Alberta and Saskatchewan have little choice but to implement plans to become a free and independent nation.

      1. LC newfberta has a rich history of whining like the queebek frogs, I remember well in the early 1980T’s being in edmonchuck and listening to the whiners, and hope you people FO outa federation, as that will make an impression on some of Canada’a stupid voters, which includes some of my RELGIOUS familly whackjobs

        1. Like I said, insults and threats are always the default position for Canadians who disagree with Alberta and Saskatchewan separation. You guys never have a positive or rational answer to a very simple question : give us some positive reasons why we should stay?

          Thanks for proving my point.

PS – You seem emotionally unstable. You should talk to a professional. I’m serious, it’s not meant as an insult.

        2. Do us a favour, please keep uo the ranting at us. The more fucknuts like you flap your filthy, bigoted slobbering jaws at us, the stronger our movement becomes. Please, don’t stop. I mean it. You and your bigotry are our BEST recruiting tool! Go you! You keep being you! Yeah! Woooo!

    2. Great article by Dannielle Smith. I knew her personally and I told her the same things in an almost 2 hour long meeting when I wrote Constitutional Proposals for the Wildrose Party. I am a rough old cob. And scared her lawyers and handlers. I warned her this day would come. But she did not have the juice and had her insider lawyers whispering in her ears. Glad to see she finally woke up. I also told her much more. About Provincial Constitutions allowed under the BNA Act sect 45. And holding a Binding Referendum on a UDI to be always held as a Hammer over Ottawa’s Head whenever Ottawa encroached into Provincial Jurisdiction under the BNA and or the Alberta Constitution that was never acted upon. The UDI would be beyond the Jurisdiction of Canadian Courts and is a Political end run around all Canadian Jurisdictions. When you are dealing with Gangsterism which is what Canada is, you have to have a loaded pistol at the poker table when you sit down. I told the same to Ralph Klein face to face an in writing. Canada is an emotional construct, a brainwashing tool to keep people enslaved. It is NOT A DEMOCRACY it is a complete FRAUD and what is happening in Canadian elections is illegal and corrupt quit participating Alberta. GO UDI.

      1. You may be a rough old cob but I love you and you, once again, are absolutely correct.

I heard Danielle’s show on Friday where she took a few moments to summarize her op-ed. I am sure there were many people looking askance at me as I drove yelling “AMEN SISTER” at my radio. (Well, maybe a few more than usual)

        1. Well thank you Chris. Danielle is a very highly intelligent Lady and a Libertarian. And not suited to street fighting. If she would have went with her gut and not listened to her handlers she would have been good. I was only supposed to have 15 minutes to explain my ideas, and she gave me almost 2 hours. She agreed with most of my points and had many questions. She was late for her speech but was taking notes. I gave her the same points I gave Klein I 2003/2004. Except with Klein I urged him to do the right thing and give Albertans their Centenary Gift for 100 years of blood, sweat and tears service to Canada, their own Provincial Constitution. He did act on A Provincial Constitution in 2005, but only used it to entrench Metis Rights. Proving my point that Provincial Constitutions are legal under the BNA Sect 45. It went unchallenged by Ottawa. It is there on the books if you want to look it up. I have our correspondence still in a filing cabinet somewhere. He was a good man but was only interested in short term goals. Paying off the debt. And now we are back in debt. A Provincial Constitution could and should be used to control greasy politicians and protect the citizen not the Government. As always in Freedom and Liberty. Go UDI Alberta, pick up the HAMMER. Watcher

  7. I don’t think Kenny has the stones or the heart to lead an Alberta independence movement. There is also a pantload of Albertans who “love Canada” (whatever that means) and they’ll fight against it.
There are already people plotting, bribing and planning against any independence movement. Does anyone honestly think the RCMP and their comrades in the intelligence community aren’t somewhat in tune? Do you think the corruption of the Ottawa/K-bec Cabal is sitting in the dark doing jack?
I wish Alberta success but there are many obstacles and enemies within and without, in plain sight or packaged as a friend.

    1. Any substantial number of people willing to consider separation would send a strong message that could change the dynamic. In the next election, a leader determined to keep the federation together by ensuring fair treatment of Alberta could win the day. Separation or serious threat of separation could both have a major impact.
Stupid Trudeau claims he wishes he could have done more to bring people together, while he can’t be bothered meeting the truckers from Alberta. Alberta will continue yo be abused until there is a serious threat that independence is a possibility.

      1. “In the next election” = Loser Attitude.
The false-narrative of separation the K-becers play won’t work for Alberta because…its a false narrative. Confederation has warped into a K-bec enrichment scheme so Alberta has to either separate or STFU.

    2. Because something is difficult to do does not mean it should not be done. In fact, it means it should be done. Nothing in this world is ever accomplished without resolve. Canadians learned this hard fact in two world wars. Their resolved ushered in the longest period of growth and prosperity we have ever had. We need to remember that great things can be accomplished when people decide to do what needs to be done.

      1. I don’t doubt it can’t be done, but its a war on several fronts and Wexit will make Brexit look like a sissy fight. And you need a majority, a solid one.
From Margaret Bore-Me-To-Tears Atwood: “Would that be a Darth-Vader-suited Energy Corridor Master in – let me guess – Alberta? While turning off the lights – not to mention the heat and the television – for some perceived transgression by, say, Ontario or Quebec, will this shadowy personage exclaim, “Bwa ha ha! Let those eastern bastards freeze in the dark!” Or worse: “Kiss my toe, craven Easterners, or no more Netflix for you!” Am I being paranoid?”

    3. Before we have a separation vote, we need to create winning conditions. Here are my steps.

      1. Have a referendum on equalization. The Feds May or May not negotiate. Quebec will just say “we are entitled”. No matter, the net result is a more Albertans become receptive to separation.

      2. Opt out of the Canada old age pension and replace it with an Alberta pension plan. Just like Quebec.

      3. Create a provincial police force, just like Quebec and Ontario. Turf the RCMP.

      4. Start collecting provincial taxes directly, just like Quebec. Work with Quebec to have provinces that want to, collect the federal income tax and remit to Ottawa.

      5. Demand control of immigration, just like Quebec.

There are undoubtedly more things that can be done to wrest things away from Ottawa.

At some point in the above process many Albertans will realize that we are almost a sovereign nation, why not take the last step?

      1. Joe, some excellent points. I would humbly add that Alberta also needs to shed itself of the left wing locusts that have infested this province. Massive cuts to government and arts programs to force these takers out of Alberta and back to canaduh.

        1. No more Public unions and use The Notwithstanding Clause…

Privatize schools and every parent decides where their children go to school…

The right to bear arms anywhere…

          Property Rights…

      2. Kenny must also start the ball rolling on ending equalization, with only its principle enshrined in the Constitution Act.

“Note also that there’s no “shall” in the equalization provision. It doesn’t say (in Section36) Parliament and the government of Canada must do this or that. It merely says they’re committed to a principle. How effectively that would stand up in court should Ottawa decide to give the current system a transformative overhaul, I have no way of even guessing.”

The big debate in equalization is whether the program itself actually widens the differences in fiscal capacity that it’s meant to reduce. Does a province that receives equalization do things with the money that lower its tax capacity? It’s not a question of whether equalization reduces its tax revenues. Equalization is about tax capacity—the ability to raise taxes, not the actual tax revenue raised.”

If a province gets federal cash and responds by reducing its taxes, which would probably be good for economic growth and therefore its tax capacity, that’s its choice. Again, it’s a federal country. In a federal country we want provinces to make real choices. (Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe recently tweeted about how monthly daycare rates are much higher—$875—in his province than in Quebec—$173), presumably partly because Quebec gets $12 billion a year in equalization.”

The implication was that that’s unfair.”

Well, premier, that’s Quebec’s choice. Saskatchewan has the fiscal capacity to make the same choice if it wishes. Quebec could have used its equalization funds to lower tax rates—as a Quebec taxpayer, I wish it would!—but it has instead poured a lot of money into child care. That’s federalism for you.”

There’s also the possibility that provinces will try to game the system and deliberately reduce their tax capacity in revenue areas where their capacity is relatively low and therefore already generating equalization for them. I suspect some of that goes on, but I have trouble believing it’s a big problem. Higher tax capacity comes from economic growth and you’ve got to think that for a provincial premier economic growth is just about all upside. But if provincial treasury bureaucrats want to fill us in on how they rejigged their policies and tax rates to maximize their equalization, lots of us will be all ears.”

If federal government seats for all intents and purposes end at the MB/ON border, then the West is subjected to taxation without representation, which will sow the seeds of separation all by itself.

        https://www.fraserinstitute.org/blogs/changing-equalization-won-t-be-easy-partly-for-good-reason

      3. Joe –

        These are bandaids. Forget them.

The best choice is a UDI. After that, the Laurentian uniparty will come running to keep Canada intact. Once you have their attention, demand nothing less than reform of the SC, and re-make the Senate like the American Senate.

Anyone notice how powerful the US Senators from total backwaters like Vermont and Rhode Island are? They get major committee chairmanships, and their states have as much clout as California does – 2 senators. Most of all, no 2 states can enslave the others. Senators from the largest population state, California, are simply 2 votes out of 100.

If this is approached strategically, the Laurentian a holes will fold immediately. No uniparty MP will want to be a member of a rump Canadian Parliament.

These reforms would result in a totally new Canada that respected individual liberty, and was not a tyranny run by Ontario and Quebec. And it would be a place any Canadian would be proud to call their country.

        1. small c,

Not sure what you mean by UDI.

If you mean the premier just stands up in the legislature and says we declare Alberta to be an independent country, well everyone outside of Alberta would ignore it, or just laugh. Albertans would not stand for it.

If you mean UDI via a separation vote, well we have to create winning conditions for it. in my opinion having a separation vote now would fail.

      4. THAT is essentially the ALBERTA FIRWALL and I 100% agree it needs to happen STAT.!!

Where the hell is BRETT WILSON…???
Theres a guy I could work for in this Separation endeavour..!!

    4. Kenney is a Globalist and he really, really wants to be PM. I hope I’m wrong, because the 2-3 years it will take to get an Alberta 1st leader to replace him is time we Albertans don’t have. There is No one to blame but us Albertans, we are like Black Democrats in the USA. We’ve given our vote to the same party for 70 years and we got NOTHING for it. Maybe finally some of us are opening our eyes.

      1. Problem is the leader always sells out…

The power to make laws and sign agreements rest with we the people in referendums

    5. He doesn’t. My take on Kenney jumping ship to AB the way he did is that he has visions of using it as a stepping stone to be PM in the future. I dunno why he thinks that way, as no Premier has made that jump in living memory. And “former Premier of Alberta” won’t win him votes in ON, PQ, etc.

So he’ll use his time in office to grandstand and showboat and _talk_ a good game, but he won’t actually _do_ any of the things that need doing to lay the groundwork for AB independence. Because he fundamentally doesn’t believe it needs doing or even that it should be done. He’ll eventually just jump ship back to federal politics leaving AB no real better off than it was when he got there.

    6. Simple: a province-wide Alberta tax strike. If the economy is tanked anyway, take a wrecking ball to what’s left, and watch the bureaucrat staff start defaulting on their mortgages while their salaries get held up!

  8. is it a sign of the future when a muslim in a hijab is canvassing for the liberals at my door? I bit my tongue and just quietly closed the door. My wife was proud of my silence.

  9. Forget it.

Quebec was indulged in its separatist tantrums because the French Canadians weren’t serious about leaving.

If an Albertan government is elected with a mandate to leave Confederation, you’ll have French, Indian and Muslim thugs in the streets of Calgary and Edmonton the next day, armed to the teeth, come to “normalize” Alberta.

Soldiers in the streets of our cities in Canada? If Alberta insists on freedom, damn right there will be.

What might actually do the trick? President Trump informing Justin that he cannot guarantee the safety of anybody living in Ottawa or Montreal if he (the President) does not receive notice of Ottawa’s unconditional surrender and transfer of all powers of government to the armed forces of the United States within 48 hours. I can’t imagine even Justin being dumb enough to resist. The shower that passes as Canada’s armed forces isn’t likely to care to fight a real army.

Of course, near term, the chance of this precise scenario is remote, as it would require that nobody else in the US government interfered with foreign policy. If Alberta (and the rest of English Canada) is serious about freedom, though, she won’t achieve it alone—and it makes most sense to deal with the only real problem, viz. the parasites on both ends of the 417.

  10. My go-to argument in support of PrairieWest separation is a thought experiment where you imagine yourself as a Canadian nationalist trying to make a case against separation after a referendum is called. What positive arguments -economic or political or emotional- are there in favor of Alberta staying in Canada? I’ve yet to hear even a single good reason, let alone a comprehensive list of reasons for Alberta and Saskatchewan to stay. The default response is always anger and threats.

The other day I read another good thought experiment: would any independent country join Canada if they were given the rotten deal Alberta and Saskatchewan currently gets from Canada.
    1) Unfair rep by pop – less parliamentary seats than much smaller Atlantic provinces.
    2) Bizarre senate representation – unequal, fewer senators and “provincial” senators chosen by a PM from Ontario or Quebec.
    3) An equalization plan formula that takes a huge chunk of your taxpayers money every year under a formula that grossly favors certain provinces and grossly punishes other.
    4) After giving over 600 billion to Canada and an additional 20 billion plus per year, expect that every few decades a politician from Quebec will use all the powers of the federal government to destroy your economy and the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of your citizens.
    5) Canada’s Supreme Court, also usually chosen by a PM from Quebec or Ontario, will always rule against your provinces
6)The rest of your fellow countrymen will ignore the economic destruction at the hands of a vindictive federal government or actively cheer it on because “you deserve it ”

No one would join Canada and take the absolute shit deal that Canada forces on Alberta and Saskatchewan. So why should PrairieWest continue to accept this abusive arrangement?

    1. So many excellent points. I will vote CPC today simply because the candidate, who I know personally, will not fail to defend Western interests. I see him as a transition process to western independence. Bernier is another easterner who I do not trust and will not invest the time in vetting. Today is the last time I will ever vote CPC or donate to that party.

The reality is that a minority government led by the Liebels is the best scenario for the West. It will solidify the separatist movement. So many people have a uneasy feeling about what the future brings to the West. Once again we have had a national election where none of the real issues facing the country are debated. LC Bennet outlined most of them. As I suspect the banana monarchy known as Canada will implode no matter what the West does. The economics are not there and progressives are to blame. Most Canadians have lived a rather soft life where simply feeding your family is a given. When that is threatened, which it will be, then all hell will break loss.

      1. I will vote CPC today simply because the candidate, who I know personally, will not fail to defend Western interests.

        Bull

Scheer will make him vote Party Lines using the same whip Scheer used for the Paris Accord.

Your wasting your vote for a Globalist Scheer…

    2. Solid points all LC Bennet,

I’ll comment on a couple of points you’ve addressed.
Canada’s Senate doesn’t make sense. It is entirely broken, yet I think a second “house” is a good idea. For Canada to continue, I can’t accept that PEI has provincial status and Vancouver Island doesn’t, or that Ontario and Quebec so completely dominate the country it makes the west’s vote moot. It’s asking too much to have the provincial boundaries redrawn (yet has happened internationally). As it cannot be repaired by those with an interest in Canada, it’s better to break up while we’re nominally “friends”. Don’t include the Atlantic provinces in a new country with the west. They’re physically too far from the west, have grown to be dependents and not equals.
Quebec has less than 25% of the population, yet has a guaranteed 33% of the SCOC seats.
All of the Atlantic provinces are overrepresented in gov’t, not that I want more representation in Ottawa, but our representation is diluted by those in the east that adore Big Gov’t.
The Constitution doesn’t have property rights guaranteed, nor does it limit in any way the power of the federal gov’t, and doesn’t appear to be amendable.
The equalization program has been institutionalized into an intergenerational welfare scheme. It shouldn’t be renegotiated, it should be shut down.

I can’t think of any reason why an independent area of the world would join Canada. It’s not a great deal for any group outside of Quebec.

    3. i am not sympathetic to separation – loyalty is an important virtue (you hear, Ms. McMillan?); but it seems to me that the Liberals have destroyed all the arguments for confederation. No more God; no more Queen; no more flag; no more military tradition; no more law; no more justice; no more prosperity.

      No more Canada.

      1. Canada has destroyed hundreds of thousands of blue collar jobs in Alberta. Killing the hopes and dreams of thousands of workers and their children through home foreclosures, bankruptcy, financial related divorce and suicide. 4 out of 5 federal parties want Alberta to suffer more of the same, preferably accelerating the destruction of the livelihoods of energy workers and their families. Journalists and the rest of Canada either don’t care or are cheering it on.

        Canada doesn’t deserve our loyalty.

      2. No more Fwench, No more UN/Ottawa Controlled Alberta National Parks, No more Marxism, No more Indian Treaties they would get one vote like every other Albertan. Lower Taxes, better Alberta Pensions, our own UI program for Albertans etc etc etc. a Free Independent Republic of Alberta. UDI and gone.

  11. The climate hysteria serves as a pretext for locking in Alberta oil production. The climate hysteria also serves the BQ in it’s war on Alberta. And the climate hysteria is the driving force behind the growing rabble that sits in parliament.

How did we get here? Thru mass indoctrination of the public by our government going back to the Rio summit in 1992; lots of write ups in the press, campaigns in kids classrooms & government funding of NGO’s a la Suzuki foundations to spread more propaganda.
And the oil execs were in on the scam. Maybe the execs read the writing on the wall. Maybe they figured they could manage the rabble. But the oil patch also positioned itself to cash in on the scam through windfarm projects & carbon credit/offset trading and government handouts.

I see no reasons to be optimistic for Alberta oil. The kids grew up and the rabble grew stronger and now they sway political power.
Today you can point the finger at the Greens or Dippers or Liberals or BQ for Alberta’s woes. But the Conservatives played a lead role going back to Mulroney in pushing the climate change scam. And the oil patch played along. And here we are.

    1. “windfarm projects & carbon credit/offset trading and government handouts”
All small change, petty cash for the big producers. Greenies crippling coal was the big payday for natural gas. Nobody makes more money off the whole scam than the gas producers. That’s why Exxon, BP, Shell, etc all jumped on. The “useful idiots” protesting carbon are oblivious to the billions (trillions?) they’ve generated for Big Oil. The Yanks are conducting the same psy-ops disinformation campaign in Canada (that they successfully carried out in their own country) now, locking up our resources to their benefit

  12. If Alberta separates I would still keep my Canadian citizenship. Then I could vote in Canadian elections, just like Canadians overseas can do now.

Just think what fun two million Albertans, who were still Canadian citizens, could have when they declare that they are Quebec or Toronto voters.

  13. Dr. Patrick Moore nails it! Western Canada must separate! Our oil is land locked and we are being ruled by the St Lawrence —Great lakes corridor! We are the only democratic country that is being ruled by one level of government which makes our Western vote meaningless!!
The false climate change is ruining our economy and has to stop!
The time has come to get off our hands and start working for a separate Western Canada!

  14. The Harperite protégé Kenney is a Globalist Flak Catcher. He could end Equalization with a stroke of the pen tomorrow by cancelling Alberta’s participation in the Canada Federal Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act which funds Equalization and all the other transfers from Alberta to Ottawa. And it is not apart of the Constitution. So it is within Alberta’s Rights to withdraw. Albertan’s need to force Kenney into a Binding Referendum on a UDI. If a UDI Referendum gets 50% plus 1 support that is the hammer to use on Ottawa and Canada’s head to get out. If over half of Albertans attain the 50% plus 1 required under International Law. Canada will be in the rear view mirror. Force a vote for UDI Alberta. Go UDI.

    1. Let’s see what Kenney does if the Liberals win or win a minority with NDP propping them up. I’m thinking he will take action pronto.

  15. Great…Canada is a failed state! What prevents the proposed new country from falling victim to the same self-serving regional agendas egged on by corrupt politicians and complicate media that we now rail against. We are talking about nation-building here and it requires serious thought and leadership…not just ranting on about our dilemma.

    1. So according to your failed thinking do nothing accept starvation of our families and bankruptcy of 4M plus people of Alberta. Your thinking is the thinking of a man born into Slavery. You will find many Albertans when they wake up still have some fire in their guts. Without any Leadership Officially, some 40% of Albertans and higher are awaiting the outcome of this election to decide their next move. That according to a recent BBC article of all things. The Corrupted Disgraceful Canadian Media will not report any of this because Ottawa controls them all.

  16. Unfortunately Alberta is a land locked province, and therefore can’t go it alone. It would be completely reliant on the US for its economy. If things keep going the way they are, then I can’t see any other choice but for Alberta to petition the US for statehood. I think the US would take Alberta in a heartbeat.

    1. The choices for us are:
A landlocked Alberta and Saskatchewan *and* living in a country determined destroy our economy while taking 20 billion dollars per year to dole out to other provinces. Continue to get treated like shit in confederation.

      Or

A landlocked Alberta and Saskatchewan *and* keeping that 20 billion plus dollars per year. Plus insisting that Canada keeps the UN commitment it signed that promised to let landlocked nations access sea ports for trade. Plus the ability to negotiate our own free trade and port access with countries like the USA and the province of BC. Plus the ability to control our own taxes, trade and environmental rules. Plus our own legal system and judges, including the Supreme Court, not appointed by Canadian Prime Ministers. Plus no bilingualism that keeps us put of federalgovernment employment. Plus ridding ourselves of Canadian cartels: marketing boards, airlines, banking, telecommunications., etc. Plus not having to listen to or pay for central Canadian media and the CBC.

There’s many more ” pluses” to freedom and independence from Canada. Negatives? Not as many.

      1. If Canada will not allow your oil to a coast what about separating with some of the states in the US to make it happen why are you thinking just Canadian Provinces.

If you are going to Dream well dream big…

    2. Wrong if Alberta is an Independent country under the UN treaties signed by Ottawa, Canada must give Alberta access to Tidewater for shipping all its products. That is a Red Herring statement that Alberta is Landlocked. It is only Landlocked if it stays in Canada.

      1. And if Canada decides to reject it? Who’s going to stop them? It’s not a red herring. It won’t be the ever leftest UN that’s for sure.
Treaty’s only have value if they are honored.

        1. At that point my friend, it is simple. Alberta goes Indian and shuts down all truck and rail passage east and west. It shuts in all BC pipelines crossing Alberta. Get the picture 2 can play that game.

        2. Well, terminating all rail lines passing thru the province would be a start.

So would turning off the taps to BC.

That’s if the arrogant Laurentian Elites have a hard time understanding the stakes. Sacrificing BC might be allowable as collateral damage

        3. Not only will Canada be less respected on the international stage if it refuses to honor its UN commitment but the nation of Alberta would be within its rights to not allow trade between BC and the rest of Canada. I suspect BC would strongly object to that decision because it will seriously hurt the BC economy. If Canada loses BC’s economic contribution, then Canada will lose the last of its 3 “have” provinces.

If Alberta and Saskatchewan separate then international credit rating agencies and currency traders will have big concerns about the stability of Canada’s economy – loss of billions in GDP, political instability, energy insecurity, big subnational debt in two of the remaining provinces. The Canadian dollar will take a huge dive after Alberta and Saskatchewan leave. Canada’s credit rating will deteriorate causing higher debt servicing costs. Alberta and Saskatchewan will have pain too but they will keep 20 billion plus per year in their own, independent country to cushion the transition. Canada’s economy will fare far worse. Removing 2 or 3 of it’s most profitable provinces (AB, SK, BC) would have a devastating impact on Canada.

Meanwhile, Alberta and Saskatchewan can negotiate a free trade deal with the USA in exchange for US access to banking, airlines and telecommunications. Maybe even request to be a temporary US protectorate. After all, Greenland was already on the table. Just because Canadians hate and resent Alberta and Saskatchewan, doesn’t mean other countries might not offer us trade and assistance.

Btw, how’s Trudeau doing on foreign relations and trade boycotts?

          1. Alberta has to act as though it were (and are) alone. No relying on other provinces, treaty’s.etc. If those opportunities should present themselves and provide an advantage then fine.
If Alberta is to separate then it must take the path that would suit its own best interests, and that may not be going it alone or along with Saskatchewan, but statehood. To me statehood makes the best sense. Economically, militarily, plus more constitutionally guaranteed freedoms (not that we couldn’t emulate it).
Alberta must do something though. The current state of affairs cannot go on forever.

          2. If you want the going it alone scenario for Alberta then, the last time I looked, Alberta’s current wealth would put it in the top 10 wealthiest countries (per capita). That’s an excellent start for a new nation. It already ships most of its products south to the USA so it has immediate access to foreign currency and stable revenue. As stated, it would keep the 20billion (net) that it sends to Ottawa every year. That 20billion is quite a bit when spread over a relatively small population. Being able to control taxes means they could choose to become one of the most tax friendly jurisdictions in North America. Controlling environmental regulations would remove Ottawa’s shackles on Alberta’s energy industry. The Canadian courts would have no jurisdiction to overrule Alberta laws. Making trade agreements becomes easier without worrying about Canada’s herd of sacred cows. Ridding Alberta of Canadian marketing and business cartels (banks, airlines, telecommunications) would keep dollars in Alberta families pockets.

Low taxes, no equalization, free trade focused, energy/ mining/agriculture unshackled, no Canadian cartels, a stable regulatory environment, high GDP, low debt…and much more. Alberta would be the richest country in North America in a decade

But, I can not imagine a scenario where Saskatchewan would not join Alberta. The two provinces are aligned economically and politically. Most Albertans have family from Saskatchewan and vice versa for Saskatchewan families. Saskatchewan would replace Alberta as Canada’s punching bag if they stayed in confederation. Polls consistently show Saskatchewan as frustrated with Canada as Alberta.

      2. The UN will not acknowledge a free Alberta, think about it, they want to control the entire planet and it’s populations a free Alberta is a threat to them.

    3. Wait, so you mean Switzerland is a failed state because it’s landlocked. Someone better tell them to join France, Italy or Germany right quick before they’re bankrupt!

  17. “No one would join Canada and take the absolute shit deal that Canada forces on Alberta and Saskatchewan. So why should PrairieWest continue to accept this abusive arrangement?”

Canada was created as Upper & Lower Canada (Ontario & Quebec) domination with little pockets of provincial Identities…. Canada has not changed since confederation

The original Provincial deal when the NWT was changed into provincial jurisdictions was ONE large province ( both Alberta & Saskatchewan joined together) This was rejected by Ontario because it would become to strong and become a threat to Eastern dominance .

At one time Saskatchewan was the third most populated (during Jimmy Gardner’s term as premier) and the ONT/Quebec cabal were very unhappy….

Want Change? Get busy, or STFU

  18. Being media cartel of the ruling class, one can understand that they would not publish the article. It would completely tremble the boat that ruling class float in.

The separation talk is good in the sense that it may possibly, even that is questionable, get the attention of the politicians and the populace of the Canada east.
The more aggressive way to show the disgust with the setup of the confederation is to have a referendum on separation. While few actually would want separation to happen, it would shake the hell out of the “politicians”.
    The referendum should be on.
Must say here that the term “politician” has been completely corrupted by the “politicians” and the media cartel. It is completely meaningless as it relates to politics.

One would think that what Moore is writing about would make sense to most citizens of this country, except perhaps those in Q’bec, they live in another dimension altogether.

    Bring it on.

  19. There is one combination that could save Confederation – a CPC majority.

With the creation of a TUC that would see billions of dollars invested in upgrades from coast to coast a new “tie that binds” will be created.

Also a reformed equalization formula that corrects for crown corp revenues, accounts for both revenues AND spending and that allows provinces to create endowments where the contributions are exempt from the equalization formula will work for every province (including Quebec).

I think the left in the urban centres, like those in the US and UK, are rapidly moving to fanaticism that drastically shrinks their appeal and popularity. Four years of stable, moderately Conservative government will expose them and isolate them. And thus the country will be more cohesive than it is today.

    1. For what reason do you think a Scheer-led Conservative majority would do any of those things?

Harper got his precious majority in 2011 and wouldn’t go anywhere near the lightning rod that is equalization. He couldn’t even be bothered to do something easier like clean out the CSA, whose corrupt dealings get chronicled here fairly often. And he’s got 10x the stones that Scheer has.

    2. Equalization Gord is entrenched Marxism. I would expect better from you. Now you support MARXISM? Away with you.

    3. “”We need to cover all of Canada with this decision and that’s why the federal government is moving forward on a science-based approach ”

The confederation where the Feds ban plastic straws is not a confederation.

A confederation is a union of sovereign states e.g. Quebec upholding its sovereignty. Take a page out of the play book.

Freedom isn’t free. You do defend it otherwise they will take it.

  20. Well, I am certainly late to the game here and pretty much everyone has stolen my thunder.
Today should be the last day for others to choose for Alberta and Saskatchewan. Tomorrow, we will start choosing for ourselves. The question is, will Mr. Kenney at least do some of the heavy lifting that Danielle Smith described or will he be swept aside by a rising tide?

Tonight, in the sole interest of power, Le Dauphin will form government with a HARD left party. All other considerations be damned, including the future of the country.

We will look to Mr. Kenney and his budget on Thursday.
Will it establish an Alberta Pension Plan?
Will it establish an Alberta Provincial Police?
Will it create a system for Albertans to collect their own taxes?

Or, will it cut a bunch of Albertans’ jobs while billions are funnelled east. Will it waste everyone’s time with the promise of a completely useless referendum on “Transfer Payments” that will be laughed at by the Laurentian Elite?

I am guessing it will be more the latter than the former and “tough guy” Kenney will have been proven to be just another useless politician. If he is, GET OUT OF THE WAY!

    1. Kenney was shoe horned in to Alberta as Ottawa and the Globalists Flak Catcher, to stomp out and tamp down Prairie Grass Fires. He can bring down the house of cards by ending Alberta participation in the Federal/Provincial Fiscal Arrangements Act which is not a part of the Canadian Constitution but is the Funding Mechanism for Equalization and all other Provincial Transfers and Tax Arrangements. It is these Transfers to Ottawa that allows Ottawa to use the Power of the purse to control the Provinces. It allows the continuation of the lack of Democratic Equality of the Provinces because Atlantic Canada and Quebec do not have to face fiscal reality, the always get the check in the mail under Trudeau’s failed Constitution. They do not have to give up anything and allow equality with the rest of us in Western Canada. The stacked Deck of Corrupt Canadian 3rd World Democracy is allowed to continue. To end this without bloodshed, Alberta has to go UDI. Canada needs a revolution. A bloodless Revolution is by far the better way to go. Go UDI Alberta.

    2. Just another statist.

“we need an Alberta pension plan”
      “Alberta police force”
      “Alberta old age security”
      “Alberta retirement savings plan”

Good luck replacing the Canadian nanny state with the Alberta nanny state. Maybe this time really will be different.

      But, probably not.

      1. Kevin,
Would you prefer the status quo? Or perhaps sending even more money to Quebec?

Just curious on your views for the future of Alberta.

        1. One is tempted to use a crude sexual reference in what he thinks should continue to be done to Alberta. I won’t because Kate

  21. Assuming Alberta and friends are serious, they really need to do something about their cities being municipal beacons of progressivism. Also you need to include BC with the ballot stating that if insufficient support for independence doesn’t show up on the Coast, they will take the North along with the Port of Prince Rupert. The North East would vote with Alberta along with much of the Southern Interior which depends on Alberta economically. Alberta could then negotiate with the South Coast BC remnants that in exchange for the Northern corridor, Alberta would allow passage of freight to the Port of Vancouver. The resulting isolated Lower mainland, Port of Vancouver and Vancouver Island would be totally cut off from Canada and 100% dependent on foreign Oil which, given their complete hypocritical dependence on it, should give them food for thought.

    1. The Municipalities which under the Constitution are exclusively the Jurisdiction of the Provinces, have once again been overtaken by Ottawa and the Power of the Purse. This has been allowed by very weak Provincial Premiers. The Province can end this by insisting that no direct Federal Transfers can go to Municipalities. But must be paid to the Provincial Treasury and handed out if at all by the Provincial Government. The FCM is a globalist enclave go read their agenda.

    2. Actually if you could isolate and cauterize Vancouver and Victoria, the rest of BC would probably go along. Vancouver Island is a big island and there are a lot of people outside Victoria who have zero love for the East.

  22. Well, Ms.McMillan, I’m sure you would like a new country; we all would. But you’re going to have to ride it down, like the rest of us.

  23. “Assuming Alberta and friends are serious, they really need to do something about their cities being municipal beacons of progressivism. ”

Yup, John Chittick. And until that problem is solved, all the talk of separation is nothing but huffin’ and puffin’.

  24. The fact that nobody would publish this article tells you all you need to know.
Never mind that these are facts. Never mind that these facts are brought up around supper tables all across the West.
People must not be allowed access to these facts. They are “too inflammatory”.
Pride parades? No problem! Drag queens reading to kids in our libraries? Celebrate and publicize!
But these facts Must Remain Hidden.
You know, we can still visit the ROC after we get out.
So don’t get all emotional about love for country. Any country that would elect JT….twice…and would vote NDP because the CBC told them to….just let me out!

  25. Too often men are only concerned with daily living. Even if they have to crawl on their bellies. We all have done this. But sometimes events arise which are greater, the kind of events that brought forth the Declaration of Independence in the USA for example. This was the American UDI. Better sometimes to live one day as a Lion than an eternity as a sheep. Get up off your knees Alberta and live your day as a Lion. You owe this to your posterity.

  26. Can’t ignore the fact that Alberta is made up of 1/3 communists, 1/3 socialists and 1/3 red-necks. The oil money attracts all three, even if only 1/3 are responsible for producing it.

    1. More like roughly 60% “conservative” containing all the various feuding elements ranging from a few libertarians , fiscal and social conservatives, cronies, and about half, mushy middle who just want an economic future. The remaining 40% are green, ethnic, union zombie, or egalitarian socialists, including most of the badly swollen public sector.

    2. I wonder though…if free riders in Alberta knew that that the gravy train was coming to the end would they jump into one of Canada’s other gravy train provinces or stay in Alberta? Personally, I think many would relocate to another province, one with big government and big social supports.

      1. My experience in Alberta when NEP 1 was on, they left in droves like the carpetbaggers they were. Good riddance!

  27. The trouble is, even if you do get a new country, sooner or later leftists will come along and f*** it up. Then what does one do?

    1. Alberta will keep more of their own generated wealth to redistribute to a smaller collective than the ROC. It’s a deal that even resident socialists should support!

    2. Write a real constitution that protects you from them. Write laws that protect the existential rights of the individual. Have term limits for all elected officials at every level and jurisdiction. Have recall provisions. Disallow public service unions. Make education a local issue. Make military service a function of citizenship/voting privilege.

    3. Yup the lefties fleeing California have already poisoned Denver and Austin. It’s just a matter of time.

    4. A very good point. Maybe look to Switzerland for immigration controls: no Newfs, no Torontonians, etc.

  28. Replacement demographics promoted by the LPC, CPC, NDP, Greens, etc.(not to mention the CBC, CTV, other media, educational system), will ensure that even Alberta will be delivering majority Liberal and NDP federal representation in a few years.

BTW, that was part of the plan.

The CPC(Cuckservative Party of Cluelessness) goes along with the plan.

I’m highly pessimistic there is anything left to be done about ‘old Canada’ getting screwed, except perhaps to lie back and enjoy it.

At least the cannabis legalization will soften the pain.(And goofy Scheer opposed that)!

  29. what about changing the Canadian constitution to a real one. we have quite a few conservative premiers and if we had a conservative fed it could be time for some changes

      1. agreed, the system does not work. change of constitution to make Canada a real country once and for all. Other than that, all the talk so far is the same I heard when I lived in quebec as a kid, word for word. Don’t think that will work either, society pretty far gone now., look at Britain, they can’t even get their country back…scary stuff.

        1. Hmmm, did you experience the bombs in Montreal? Tronna slept well, then begged the froggies to stay when the referendum was on. I moved to Alberta as soon as possible. Short lived freedom until NEP 1.

    1. No more Constitutions by Greasy Politicians For Greasy Politicians. JA MacDonald gave us the BNA Act and the Communist PET added his Marxism on top. Not one Canadian Man or Woman agreed or disagreed to Canada’s Unratified Fake Constitution. The BNA Act is an Act of the Parliament of Westminister on how a Gov. Gen. is to administer a Colony. It is not and never has been a proper Constitution whereby the Consent of the Governed is Paramount. The BNA still resides in the UK. PET could not repatriate a handful of shite. Because the BNA does not belong to Canada being an Act by a Foreign Government. It to this day does not reside in Canada. It is a joke a cruel Hoax upon all Canadians. In fact a Criminal Act against honest Canadians. It can not be changed it can not be amended for this reason alone. How can Canada amend an Act in a Foreign countries Parliament. Wake Up. That is why each Province needs to UDI Canada.

      1. That is exactly why to be a real country we need our own constitution. Sounds like you think it’s not possible. Likely you are correct, a lot easier to get each single province to go on it’s own, keep it more regional. Likely the same reason European countries are so small.

  30. Will Canada survive this federal election?

No, and that’s a good thing, says Patrick Moore “presently the Chairman of the CO2 COALition in Washington DC.”
He even shows us how it can be done, moving provinces around with abandon.

Go on, read it, expand your mind, with a long enough lever …..

    1. Poor Dizzy, someone “allowed” a knowledgeable scientist to write an article that goes against the eco-feminist-leftist US foundation-funded green propaganda anti-capitalism machine. Quick, cite a link to deSmogblog or the NYT for an off the shelf smear.

  31. I don’t technically have a dog in this fight, but being an American conservative I would be very pleased to see the conservative Canadian provinces detach themselves from their insipid, virtue-signaling overlords exemplified by Boy Blackface and his friends.

        1. Well tell President Trump to forget Greenland and go for a very Conservative Alberta. Alberta has the 3 rd largest oil reserves in the world, right on your border. And many do not know this but the largest influx of immigrants ever into Alberta were Americans after the Civil War. Hence our Motto Fortis Et Libre. Strong and Free.

  32. I’ve been asking myself two questions as I read this thread.

    1. If the rest of Canada were to try to convince the prairies to stay in Canada, what would they say to convince us?

    2. What would I say to an SK or AB separatist to convince them to stay in Canada?

For #2 it is compelling to note land-locked nations are poor nations. Nations who are beholden to others for all access to international trade on their terms. (You could argue that that’s where we are at today).

    1. Yes, being landlocked isn’t much of a threat or convincing argument if Canada is landlocking us anyway. At least as an independent nation Alberta taxpayers would keep 20billion per year (net) in Alberta instead of sending it to Ottawa. Besides the USA is our biggest customer and their sea ports might like the extra business shipping Alberta and Saskatchewan goods overseas.

My question has always been…is there any *positive* reasons that would convince Alberta and Saskatchewan to stay in confederation if there was a separation referendum? The landlocked argument isn’t a positive reason, it’s a veiled threat.

      1. Mmm, so I guess Switzerland, Luxembourg, The Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary should just self-cancel because landlocked. Got it.

Fcuk me the dolts who keep spouting this crap should just stick their heads in bucket of water three times, and take them out twice.

    2. The ROC should be celebrating western separatism as that solves their “dirty oil” problem and can then virtue signal themselves into impoverished starvation. Global Warming hysteria has united the left to destroy Canada. It’s what they want. The West should give it to them.

If the Easterners were being honest, they would argue that they need to mooch Alberta’s oil wealth while they figure out how to kill it and still eat. I was just watching BNN and their three “business leaders” all said as much, couched in their spin doctored agreement in “climate Change”.

    3. Yah poor old Switzerland landlocked and all. Canada already signed on in International Law to prevent Landlocking all nations. And if they renege, then we starve BC out. No rail passage east or west, No BC pipelines crossing Alberta, shut them in. No freight east or west by truck. 2 can play that game.

      1. watcher people like you sound stupid with your horse shit, they would just reroute through northern USA, who would be happy for the $$$pulled in because of it. Just take yer head outa the bucket twice:-)))

    4. “what would they say to convince us?” The usual, shut up racist. You wouldn’t dare separate, you “need” us. Or is it US?
Assuming the statists and the apparatchik mediocracy enablers succeed with their divide and conquer, Canada is now done.

  33. Confederation guaranteed Quebec 25% of the seats within confederation. Confederation guaranteed Ontario they would never have less than Quebec, that makes 50% of the vote already. PEI, and Island of 100,000 was bought off with four seats in the commons, plus senators. The rest of Atlantic Canada was also bought and paid for in the same manner. So regardless, if Western Canada bloated to a Billion people, they would still be ruled by the east as at best they could only secure 38% of the seats and even then it would not be homogeneous voting. In addition the Prime Minister would still appoint your senator, your SCOC judge, and tell you how much you will pay for your indulgences to their greatness.

No property rights, no self defense rights, and no equal representation so, what’s the point? It’s not a country, it’s a tax farm of pseudo slaves.

    1. Smart Lady glad you understand. Some fool up the thread said Alberta would have Canadian Troops in our streets. Ha Ha Ha. You really do not want to go there ever. And that is why Alberta needs to UDI. Ends all Canadian Jurisdiction as soon as ratified.

  34. Alberta has to separate and then negotiate terms for a new minimal union that would give Alberta BC’s Peace River Country and the Port of Price Rupert with land access. Then pipelines would be an internal Alberta matter.

    1. Actually, that’s not a bad idea.

Let me throw this in the mix, we take ALL of Northern BC and…in exchange…we take ALL of Canada’s debt. The only condition is that the debt MUST remain denominated in Canadian Dollars. After we leave and the Northern Peso collapses, we get great people, great land, great resources and access to Asian markets for pennies on the dollar! 😉

        1. Of course!

My guess is, though, that there would be a huge momentum from British Columbians outside the lower mainland to join with us so we wouldn’t even have to pay off the Canada’s debt, pesos or not!

  35. One more reason Alberta needs out of the FAKE Canadian Democracy. What country or people put up with an appointed Head of State. The Black Faced Retard Trudeau appointed our Useless Head of State. Payette, now in a hung Parliament Payette the Useless gets to decide who will make up our Government. Who has ever heard of such a ridiculous excuse for a country. A made up unratified Constitution that no one voted for, a completely unDemocratic unequal vote, were no one west of Quebec has an equal vote. And an Appointed Head of State. No one in Canada is mature enough it seems to make any choices. Get the hell out of the insane asylum Alberta.
    https://ottawacitizen.com/pmn/news-pmn/canada-news-pmn/hung-parliament-could-give-governor-general-tricky-line-to-walk/wcm/dc9fd25a-6908-4175-bede-87ee2b04d3e4

  36. I’m very excited for Alberta.
Many countries are land locked. Switzerland. they do great. Alberta can do the same or better.

    1. How true Powers. Alberta needs to go UDI, Universal Declaration of Independence which is what the USA did with their Declaration of Independence. With UDI, all Canadian Jurisdiction is ended with a 50% plus 1 vote. No more Fwench, No more UN, No more Indian Treaties, All parkland in Alberta will revert to Alberta it was only on loan anyway. The New Republic of Alberta will finally be free of the Corrupt Canadian system, which is a disgrace in this day and age. A place were Atlantic Canada and Quebec control the whole country. Norway began their Heritage Trust Fund after Alberta and now has 1T in cash Alberta is in debt again. But we can rebuild. Once out from under the Criminality that Canada has become. Get off the Slave Ship Canada Alberta. “Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that yee were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams.Go UDI Alberta Go UDI.

Now you can roll over like a little dog and wait for the kick in the nuts or you can get up and fight. Better to live one day as a Lion than a lifetime as a sheep. And the place to continue the fight is demand Kenney hold a binding Referendum for a UDI.

  38. This is one Albertan that is ready to vote for separation. Canada does nothing for Alberta yet Alberta pays the bills.
I say this as a proud Canadian for over 50 years. Canada is broken and can never be fixed.
