    1. Butts may be on the outside of the PMO but I’d bet the strings are still attached to Shiny.

He’s on the outside for a while. It may be that he can say things to undermine JW-R from the outside while the official attack animal within the PMO will be a woman — Telford. This way the official attack is woman on woman, and who knows Telford may release her DNA results showing she is 1/1024 Mayan princess — therefore having equal diversity points with JW-R who is a heriditary Chieftess of her noble clan.

  1. Surely he meant, Turdhole… The Turdhole that Gerry Leaves Behind… Stephen Maher..? Isn’t he that greasy Media douche-bag that won some sort of warped Media award for lying by fabricating a story of a Conservative conspiracy to win the election by implementing a nation wide robocalls scheme, a scheme that later proved to have not existed. Yeah, I remember that douche-bag… what a turdhole… or is it front-hole, he’s probably a bit of both.

  2. could be devastating for Trudeau

Not just him. If he’s gone, the MSM won’t have the easy life of writing fluff about him and being well-paid for it. Why, the times will be so tough that they actually have to start reporting news, and, worse, doing so properly once again.

    1. That will never happen. How many of Hitler’s staff also committed suicide in the bunker? People like Don Lemon, Jeff Bezos, are in it till the Jonestown end. Fully committed.

I expect at least one of them to set themselves on fire, to commit suicide on live TV, to protest Trump winning a second term. Or when Ginsberg is replaced in Trump’s first term. Whichever comes first. With religious fanaticism, it always goes the same way.

  3. And why is Macleans making a joke about homosexuality? I see Richard Warman getting another payday…

  4. I saw Liberal Party middle linebacker Rosemary Barton over at Liberal Party HQ, CBC ,interviewing a couple of other LIberal Party workers Andrew (I love Peeair Turdowe) Coyne and Tony Russo the Liberal apologist over here, geez, where did they dig him up…? It looked like old Rosemary was passing gas the whole interview or maybe she was passing a kidney stone through her penis, either way she looked pained… although I’d like to congratulate Rosemary on her transitioning, looks like its working as its supposed to. The Media are going to have to work extra hard to get Turdhole re-elected, even harder then they did the last time.

  5. … for Headline Writers –

” Great supine protoplasmic invertebrate jellys”….

    Ha! Nice lot!
(By: Boris Johnson to House of Commons MPs in Britain…)

  6. I must have stumbled into an alternate universe, are you telling me that bending the rules for powerful friends of the Liberal Party is now a bad thing in Canada?

    What the …

    You’re kidding me, right?

    1. Well, this week. Next week it’s back to “business as usual”, with new advisors……or a leadership review. October is coming fast. Only 8 months to go.

  7. As an opinion writer, Maher’s range of opinions is contained. He provides analysis and projection on how to survive this affair; no explicit opinion on whether they should survive. Must be nice to be a Liberal.

  8. Let’s hope Christmas comes in October. We need a shiny, new government of stupid bastards to overtax, overspend and overlie.
Hopefully the next headline will be Telford Out The Backdoor, and many others, then finally, Trudeau Takes It (Responsibility) In the End.
We Know PM PantsOnFire is guilty of obstruction of justice… he asked why JWR didn’t come to him if there was a problem. So how does he explain Buttsplug’s departure if he’s not guilty?
Did JWR’s lawyer make a call? Or is she on the all-out warpath with a goal nothing short of Kaptan Kanada’s Kapitulation?

    1. Maybe Butts felt he would be a distraction to what he knows is coming. Why else would an innocent political adviser and long time friend to the PM resign unexpectedly rendering his poor buddy literally speechless?

    2. “We need a shiny, new government of stupid bastards to overtax, overspend and overlie.”

It’s your lucky day! By scheer coincidence, it’s waiting in line.

PS: Can I add cowardly and ovine to your prerequisites?

  9. As long as JWR is under the restrictions of the lawyer-client privilege she can’t respond, which means the media n an almost rabid need to be first to report the latest in this blood bath, have to go to the PM. This will continue until such time until she is excused by the PM, or if a criminal investigation is under way into the matter.
    Here’s the irony.
If the PM doesn’t call for the investigation but someone else does it makes it hard for liberal supporters to invoke plausible denial (“what is he hiding if he won’t call for an investigation?”). If the Sockmonkey won’t waive lawyer-client privilege again it puts the question, what are they hiding if everything is above board in this transparent and open government.
As long as this situation continues, the job of the Ottawa Press gallery remains relatively easy.
They report the latest rumour, PMO panics, PMO response tries to deflect, press gallery falls back on JWR not telling her side of the story, rinse repeat.
If the PMO wants to change the channel, they should initiate an investigation. That leaves them the ability to respond, no matter the question, with “we cannot comment on an ongoing investigation”.
This would put them on the same footing as JWR. The fact that it hasn’t, is likely frustrating the hell out of liberal operatives that are on the outside *cough*kinsella*cough*.
But enough introspection, let me toss out a prediction.
The member for Vancouver-Grenville rises during QP to inquire, that due to the endless questions surrounding this issue, will the PM be waiving lawyer-client privilege or will he direct his AG to request the RCMP investgate? This essentially calls the PM’s bluff.
Not saying will happen, its a could happen.
To further follow this train of thought.
Lets presume that after that QP, the member rises to make a point of order with the speaker that she will be sitting as an independent.
Again, not a will happen, its a could happen. The context is what will she do to keep on the side of the angels inthis affair.
Finally, don’t lose sight of why this whole $hit storm started. To give SNC a get out of jail card.
As long as this story bleeds and leads, that option is a third rail and nobody wants to touch it.

    1. You forgot to mention the “role” Quebec has in all of this. That is crucial to LPOC fortunes in October. They need to clear the decks soon. Lot’s of Equalization money buying votes down there. What amount went into Bombardier last time? How much goes into SNC? These corps are Quebec Inc. Pensions, that the ROC are funding, on top of what Quebeckers are fleeced for these crooks.

Dear Quebec Premier said 9,000 Quebec jobs are worth more than 100,000 Albertan ones, vote buying wise. That’s the bottom line, here.

  10. Gerry is like most husbands in the Current Year. He does all the work, gets none of the credit, and all of the shit when something goes wrong—usually because his wife did something really idiotic.

The Jody Big Screen affair was the last straw.

Who knows? Maybe Gerry can finally be persuaded upon to testify against the Tapette.

  11. And so, there goes Gerald Butts.

    At least for now.

The nephew of the Senator and hyper devout Catholic nun, Mary Butts. Something about Catholics always getting into power and determining what Canadians must do, while taking their orders from the Catholic-created and controlled UN.

    Hmmm…

      1. That’s what happened for hyper devout Catholic Mary. In fact, they had to change the rules to make her a senator. Back then, one needed to own $4,000.00 of land as well as $4,000.00 of personal property to be a candidate. As a nun, her asset value was $0.

But the rules tend to get bent for Catholics. Especially for Jesuit-trained Catholics who spend a lifetime indoctrinating another generation with their propaganda in the school system.

        1. “their propaganda in the school system”
Of course, that explains why children in the Catholic school system, do so much better than those in the public! Propaganda! You’re so wise! Tell me, have you picked up your new armband and hobnailed boots yet? Now run along and don’t forget to practice your stiff armed saluting!

          1. Catholics control both school systems. They are overt in one and covert in the other. Both systems are beyond terrible – one is simply less bad than the other. But the dumbing down of the west was a goal of theirs from Day 1. A farmhouse school from 80 years ago would have been far superior to either.

And the Nazis were created by the Catholics. The Jesuits specifically. Many wars, including WWII were orchestrated by them, and leaders on both sides were their puppets. The goal was the death and subjugation of Europe’s non-Catholics, as well as to set the conditions for the creation of the modern state of Israel.

  12. Truth finding can be a maze when dealing with political maneuvering to hold onto power by illegal means. In the real world it’s corruption. We have no proof and as has been famously said a proof is a proof and those who know ain’t talking.
This in itself leads thinkers to conclude something isn’t quite on the up and up.

Whatever happens the Liberals still have Ralph Goodale and a few other gems who have stayed past their BB date.

What a mess of confusion for Justin’s poor brain to deal with without Gerald Butts.

  13. Hopefully, his security clearances terminate automatically upon his resignation, or will be shortly.

    Re: Senor MacDonald…

Butts hasn’t confided in me — he prefers to talk about wine and literature over the dinner table — but I’ll take a stab at it anyway.

Methinks he might be a bit too close to the subject to have any sort of impartiality or objectivity on the issue.

At any rate, one down, several thousand to go.

  14. Liberal partisan Maher describes Butts as an “experienced and savvy political operatives”. If so one wonders what an amateur klutz would look like. Consider Butts’s full resume: McGuinty Gas Plant fiasco, the success of the Ont provincial Wynne brand, Trudeau’s India trip, McCallums strange mutterings re China, and finally the Lavalin imbroglio.
Could it be that his expertise was somewhat exaggerated by Liberal insiders?

  15. I have a very low opinion of Neil MacDonald, but he is (shockingly to me) accurate when he writes:

“Gerry Butts has been done in, at least partly, by the ethos of identity politics and virtue signaling he himself helped create around our prime minister.”

I wasn’t expecting to read that.

      1. He has a “I wonder if a few thelfieth will fikth thith meth” look on his face.

  16. Re: MacDonald piece on the CBC website.

I don’t much care for the authour’s habitually socialist views (well, he does work for the CBC), nor here for his weaving in of gratuitous swipes at the United States (we have more than enough home-grown examples and parallels), but it is an insightful and hard hitting analysis. And may, in part at least, be true.

His conclusion also sets me to thinking that MS JWR’s options have shrunk to two. All that is left is for her to fold her teepee; or else bring down the whole temple. If this just a case of a woman scorned, maybe the latter still is an option; but I doubt it. The Indian is her is looking for the best deal, and the Indians in the PMO may have offered her one in the form of Mr Butt’s scalp (plus considerations “for your people” that will not appear in public). So it may be that Wednesday’s surprising news from caucus is that, having taken the time she unavoidably needed to take legal counsel, Ms JWR belatedly confirms that, while she may have taken Mr Butt’s messaging the wrong way, nothing untoward really happened. And all us Liberals can live happily ever after.

After a decent (and very short) interval, the PM can the show his inner Indian by back-tracking a bit and allowing as how, given that this was all just a big misunderstanding, he is tickled pink to be able to invite his good friend Gerry back to re-join the team. For the good of the country, you will understand.

    1. That is how I expect this to unfold, as I have previously mentioned. JWR has her war prize, a head on a pole outside of her longhouse. This would explain why PM Butts resigned so early in this whole charade.
Now JWR gets a sudden case of “ I don’t recall” disease, and everyone lives happily ever after in
      LIEBrawl land.
Expecting Junior Pony Sillysox to fall on his petard? C’mon, not realistic, he’s a greedy corrupt
LIEBrawl, he hasn’t lost the election yet.

      1. No way Dan,JWR has the opportunity to take over the Liberal Government, and win the next 3 elections.
The crown is in her grasp.
        The optics are glorious,
        Native.
        Woman.
        Appearance of ethical purity.
And the public love of Trudeau is sinking fast, people actually admit to regret having voted for The Hair Apparent.
        Now this Quebec centric fiasco.
The back bench Liberals need to act,as their silence is seen as acceptance of the idiocy of the Dancing Queen.
Canada is foundering,Liberals are the crew at the helm..
Either they chuck the Turd now or they become the PC party after Mulroney. As in a pair of chairs.
With a split opposition and the gullible voters of Liberals, voter fraud and the voting dead, they will win with a landslide.
So our new Prime Minister will be a Native Woman from BC as the old graspers of the Liberal Party will do anything to retain power and their access to the public purse.
The Canadian Media Guild will be all over this narrative.
From outcast to Dear Leader in 3 months.

        1. “JWR has the opportunity to take over the Liberal Government, and win the next 3 elections.
The crown is in her grasp.
          The optics are glorious,
          Native.
          Woman.
          Appearance of ethical purity.”

Bingo, John Robertson. Good use of “appearance”. That’s all Liberal voters are concerned about.

  17. Actually, if you read the comments to United we roll post above in the ling to Reichstag Fire trucks, it would seem that Ontario is voting for the same corrupt crowd.

    1. The Family Compact is alive and well, except they forget who pays the bills from the Western provinces.

Yes we are angry Ontario. Many Ontarioans live here, your bros, you know. Want them back?

      1. Don’t think that it is only the Ontarians, there are perhaps millions that will vote for the airhead.
Don’t want to blame, the point is that they are busy people getting up in the morning, going to work, getting back taking kids to hockey, soccer or what have you. They see the news, they take it as it is, they have other things to do, have to take care of the family. It is easy to blame them, don’t think that is the way to go about it.

People do like to get “free” stuff, even those that comment here. The people never think that if they pay less taxes and pay for stuff themselves would be more efficient since they may think of not spending money it not necessary.
Recently had to buy a lot of pills that doctor prescribed, the price to me was negligent since the blue cross and the government system paid most of it. If I had to pay the whole shot, it would not break my senior bank account, though because that is how they buy votes, that’s the way it is, if you multiply it by hundreds of thousands, pretty soon you talk some real money.

It is complicated, if people informed themselves and cared about their independence, thing would be better.
And as the late Prentice appropriately said at that fateful debate, math is hard and very few believed it.
Economics are relatively straight forward, though few seems to understand that you have to produce and make profit to have a surplus to distribute. It could be that most people, like AOC thinks that you just print some paper and deficits will solve themselves.

Yeah there is a shortage of critical thinking, as the world relentlessly moves on there is less and less of a chance of that to happen.

        1. With all due respect, Lev, I agree with your @ 2:00 pm post.

          Liberals are everywhere.

You wrote at 12:29 “… it would seem that Ontario is voting for the same corrupt crowd”…
I think we both meant that, in addition, Ontario has more civil servants than anyone else.

          That said…

What I forgot to add was that I read that a lot of SNC employees live in Ontario. Their biggest shareholder is the Quebec Pension Plan at about 19%. They are joined at the hip, much to the chagrin of Conservatives in Ontario. The regular non-civil servants have their sons and daughters working in Western Canada. Many are retiring here to spend time with their grandchildren. I see them everywhere. There’s a lot of cars with Ontario license plates out here.

Hope I didn’t offend you, it was not my intention. Perhaps I should’ve indicated that I was being a bit sarcastic about asking Ontario and if they want their people that are here, back. Mea Culpa.

Like you, I too, live in Western Canada, the Easterners think they own us. Pretty ‘fancy pants’ of them, to quote Ezra Levant!

          1. Of course you did not offend, can’t see where.
I just went on a bit close to deep end.
            That’s all.
            Heh.
            Have a great day.

          2. @3:15pm

It’s warmer out now in Calgary – what a difference from -23°C to -2°C….. I’ll take It.

You too, have a good evening.

  18. The “Hole He Left Behind”.

Oh Canada, so many permutations it may require a contest.

    First…… Justinsjournos:

CBC: ” Oh what a hole the loss of this fine Canadian leaves in the big heart of the Liberal Party. ”

Toronto Red Star: ” Maybe this whole thing was meant to happen so Mr. Butts could return to Ontario and finish what he started.”

CTV: “Like a hole in a doughtnut, Canada is missing its heart.”

Regular Canadians: “Good Bye and good riddance you Ideological, Lying, Taxing, Climate Zealot Asshole!
And take the “Asshole He Left Behind” with you.”

  19. I think we’ve just seen the LPC make use of the ACME “portable hole”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb4Y2k_L814

Butts isn’t gone. Just moved out of sight. There’s still basically zero accountability for corrupting Canada’s justice system and won’t be until there’s a wholescale change of Gov’t.

  20. Oh Mommas, make sure your kids grow up to be Greenies,
Then they too may make millions like Gore and Butts,
And think of the virtue signalling,
Although it helps to be Liberal and nuts.

  21. I’d like to know how Gerald Butts amassed a $23 million dollar net worth, having only worked as a political operative and environmental lobbyist after his humble beginnings as a coal miners son from Cape Breton?

    1. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peggy_Butts

How did he get a $23 millon net worth? Was thinking the same too. In my musings I figured that he must’ve been very well paid at the WWF
      – all that with an English degree. He probably signed the paycheques too. Nice work, if you can find it.

(Read about his relative Senator Peggy Butts who was a nun. She took a vow of poverty and donated her salary to charity. See her mini biography)

  22. Alberta should hire SNC to “engineer” all the pipelines. With their incredible lobbying infrastructure, they could get so many pipelines approved that you won’t be able walk 100 yards along the Alberta border without tripping over a pipeline.
It may cost another $ billion. All in cash and in small bills. Eastern Canada’s paper bag industry will get a big boost also.
