I looked at all the bills he has presented and passed.

He’s done little but legalize pot.

It’s a criticism of Justin Trudeau I hear again and again.

Is it true?

Not in any literal sense. He’s also screwed up NAFTA talks, bought a pipeline that can’t be built, angered our Pacific rim partners over his handling of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, bought old jets for our airforce while delaying purchasing new ones and he’s raised taxes several times.

      1. You may not like Trump, but his policies are helping the average American and I am convinced he really does mean “America First”. Same cannot be said about our PM, whose policies seem to be “Canadians last”.

    2. I’m an American – I live right across the border from Canada and work in a place that has Albertan’s in every day. My wife and I vacation in Canada 2/3 times a year – Alberta only.

      God, do Albertan’s I speak with hate Trudeau. Our discussions are fun as hell. I would take Alberta into the US if they voted to join us in a heartbeat. Saskatchewan too, maybe Manitoba – the rest of Canada – well, not so much. So if the vote ever looks like it’s going to occur, just move to Wild Rose country and join us.

        There, now that I’ve sounded superficially clever like Un-certainties … mocking the RED scare … let me explain why that film may become pure prophecy (save for one minor detail). Our two nations have already been invaded, and turned Red from each coastline. The entire west Coast of Canada and the US are already fully operational Communist regions. Same with the East Coast (save for those southern bits, and maybe NewFoundland … although I don’t know much about that appendage to Canada) . The only place left for the original patriots are the interiors -flyover country. I am not a whacko, survivalist, cuckoo with buried cans of gold bullion … but I can envision a day when the coastal commies begin invading the interior of the country to seize the natural resources still not quite under their total control. I see a day when true patriots will have to finally RESIST the Communist RED SUNSET from swallowing our nations into endless darkness. And I see a day when the center of Canada joins forces with the Wolverine Nation to the South to make our final stand against the Totalitarian States surrounding us.

        And the one detail that will be different? Patrick Swayze will not be our Patrick Henry. The LGBTQpO will NOT be leading our Rebel Cause.

    Justin’s accomplishments: 1: A gender balanced Cabinet 2: legalized marijuana 3: Stopped all the pipelines 4: Stood bold and courageous against that AWFUL Trump 5: wept copious amounts of tears on various occasions thus showing how sensitive he is 6: proved time and again that he IS a feminist, AND 7: has called for a total BAN on all legally owned handguns. As we all know 97% of handguns used in a crime were once legally owned, or is that the percentage of climate scientists who believe in CAGW ?
    I can never keep those numbers straight.
    Through it all, his hair was never out of place. If an election was held tomorrow, the LPC would win with about 200 seats.

    The Liberal government’s tax on Canada’s top 1 per cent failed to produce the promised billions in new revenue in its first year, as high-income earners actually paid $4.6-billion less in federal taxes.”

    The Liberal Party’s campaign platform said a new top tax bracket would raise nearly $3-billion a year, but an analysis of recently released data from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) shows the expected benefit didn’t materialize.”

    The latest available tax records show that revenue from Canadians earning about $140,000 or more – which had previously been the fourth and highest tax bracket – dropped by $4.6-billion in 2016, the first full year that the Liberal tax changes were in effect. Further, 30,340 fewer Canadians reported incomes in that range for 2016 compared with the year before.”

    Finance Minister Bill Morneau’s office told The Globe and Mail that the drop in revenue from high-income earners appears to have been a one-time event. Because the changes were announced in late 2015, before the year was done, taxpayers had the opportunity to shift income into the 2015 tax year, sheltering those funds from the higher 2016 taxes. As a result, the government says tax revenue was higher in 2015 and lower in 2016. A spokesperson for Mr. Morneau said early indications are that 2017 will show “a substantial rebound” in revenue from high-income earners.”

    The Minister’s office said future revenue changes resulting from the tax cut are expected to be “in line with projections.”

    Sure, we can trust their “projections.” An “unanticipated” $7.6b off projections for 15-16, but we can believe them now?

    Look at the bright side, while the top marginal rate is about the same as the Chretien government before the IMF threatened to come calling, that was on about half the income of today, which is around $200,000 net income.

    Actually, that’s bad news because it means the taxaction statists still have plenty of tax slack to inflict upon us.

      Her first reaction was “Trump’s a pig!” and she went on to say he didn’t deserve to win. Then, perhaps not knowing when to quit, I mentioned that it would be fun to see how Trump would behave when he met Prince Vacuumhead. I suggested that DJT would give wee Juthtin a good spanking.

      That did it. She tore into me about how great Shiny Sparkle Socks is. I made matters worse when I questioned her enthusiasm by reminding her about what PET did, as she was about my age and certainly would have remembered.

      Oh, my! I cast aspersions on the two greatest prime ministers that this country ever had. How dare I do that!

Oddly enough, one of his biggest boosters since the day he entered Parliament has been former PM Brian Mulroney, who, when Justin was elected LPC leader said, not verbatim,” Justin is a fine young man and I’m sure he will be a capable leader”.

      On our street in 2015,there were nine CPC signs, only one LPC. The lady who owned the LPC house said of Justin,” gosh he’s just SO intelligent”.

      At the time I laughed, and thought she was a bit of a ditz. sigh.

  15. Bad economic decisions by any government are not felt for several years. The current government’s mistakes (and there are some big ones) will take time to hurt the economy. By then someone else will be in power to take much of the blame. This IMO is why Trudeau is deficit spending. He doesn’t care what happens when he leaves office – sign of a poor leader. When Harper left the deficit was pretty much zero.

  19. This thread brings to mind the street interview a SunTV reporter and camera crew did after the Liberal Party crowned the Shiny Pony. A white haired lady, probably in her sixties, was asked if she was happy about that and she replied, “Yes”. She was then asked if she would vote for him and she replied, ” Oh yes, he has such pretty hair”. It would be nice to be able to see that clip again and show it regularly. At the the time I thought, boy are we ever screwed.

      In my apartment complex’s rental office, one of the employees is an immigrant from overseas, having arrived in Canada two or three years ago. One day, when I was having a conversation with her, the subject of Clown Prince Dummkopf came up. The one comment she made about him was about how “handsome” he was. Not a word about his capabilities, nothing about his policies.

      It’s a good thing she wasn’t a citizen as I think I know who she would have voted for in the last election.

      On the other hand, two years ago, I was at a nearby grocery store and I happened to speak with an elderly lady from Scotland about the American election. She didn’t like Trump, but she thought that Prince Dummkopf acted too much like his fellow pride paraders.

    Even that old bold CPC mantra proved to be seriously understated, didn’t it? His reign has been an embarrassing string of gaffs, miscalculations, failures, multiple ethical and diplomatic scandals and mostly broken campaign promises.

    Trudeau would easily be unelectable in this country if not for the CBC et al abandoning journalism in favor of being unwavering state propagandists for him. Breaking this cabals’s stranglehold on political discourse is at least as important as defeating Trudeau himself. Scheer may very well accomplish one, but he seems totally disinterested in even addressing the other.

  29. Actually a lot of work has been done on bills to make significant changes to CEAA, NPA, NEBA and the Fisheries Act.
