    In Calgary Mayor Nenshi said implementing something you didn’t campaign on is wrong. I wonder when Notley will denounce Rachel Notley re her carbon tax, about which, there was not a peep durin the campaign.

    Dissolve the council entirely, and replace it with a city manager reporting not to Toronto’s “diverse and vibrant” denizens but to Queen’s Park and to premier Ford, with a mandate to clean up the city.

    First order of business:

    1. Send the city’s “diverse and vibrant” police chief packing and replace him with someone serious about allowing the city’s finest to do their jobs of enforcing the law and breaking the backs of Toronto’s ethnic gangs.

    2. Because the police can’t be everywhere at once, allow law-abiding Torontonians to carry guns, and to use them to rid their neighbourhoods of criminals.

    1. Hate to break it to you Dumbo but “city’s finest” would much rather kick in the doors of law abiding gun owners than go after gangs.

        The rank and file understand that law-abiding gun owners are not the enemy—and would appreciate their help putting a bullet-hole or two in hajji before they get to the crime scene. It would make bringing hajji in for questioning much easier.

          Generally this is a myth. Some rare exception exist typically outside the big cities. Majority of cops hate legal gun owners and will use any excuse to disarm them. It was not the brass that enthusiastically kicked in the doors in High River. What counts to JBTs is the blue line and law abiding gun owners are perceived as a challenge to be eliminated. Besides cops are hired through affirmative action programs and then systematically brainwashed.

          Do a little experiment. Buy a gun case and drive through a spot check manned by minority cops with a locked case on your back seat. See how well they will treat you.

    If Toronto had the same number of persons per councilor that New York has – ~16

    be it resolved that the city of Toronto has too many councilors under the Ontario model, and the number should be reduced even further.

    1. But every ghetto needs it’s own representative! Every little neighborhood identity group has to represent its own interests … and not be part of an amalgam of a Representative Republic. Hell … screw the Councilors! Just put EVERY vote on EVERY city action directly to … The People. A full on Democracy, eh?

  13. Ford’s cutting down on the deadbeats,great! How any sane person can prefer more city councillors or any members of government is beyond me. Do the voters not realize that every single one of them costs taxpayer’s money and their salaries and perks cause taxes to go up?
    Canada is the most over governed nation on earth,it’s about time someone did his small part to cut down on the fat.

    1. When the hullabaloo dies down, and those extra city councillors are gone, every single citizen of Toronto will still be represented by a municipal councillor, an MPP and an MP.

    1. There is no evidence that diversity has destroyed anything, let alone Toronto. It’s especially inept considering Toronto is far safer than most prairie towns, which are often much whiter.

  18. Cutting the number of Councillors is the wrong move. He should be going to other way–doubling, tripling, greatly increasing the number (along with a cut in pay, of course). We don’t need a few powerful politicians who claim to represent hundreds of thousands if not millions of people. Does anyone believe Trudeau when he claims he speaks for all Canadians? What we need is many weak politicians who are in office for one reason and one reason only: because they actually convinced the people they represent that they were the best option.

    Powerful movements like those lead by Ford or Trump are great at giving a voice to normal people, but we all know how those are the exception, not the rule. How many times have we seen a good candidate come along, only to have the character assassins in the media go to work? Cutting the number of Councillors just makes this easier.

    “92. In each Province the Legislature may exclusively make Laws in relation to Matters coming within the Classes of Subjects next hereinafter enumerated; that is to say,

    The province giveth, and the province taketh away! Ha ha!

  20. By the way, if the Ontario government could make Fort William and Port Arthur and neighbouring communities become Thunder Bay whether anyone liked it or not, I don’t see why they can’t do this.

    Look at how well the EU has done with its unelected apparatchiks. Brexit anyone?

    In Victoria we have an unelected body trying to run people’s lives and spending their money without authority. The CRD (Capital Region District – how Orwellian!) spent $5m to buy some land they said would be used for a sewage treatment plant (which has no sewage treatment plan btw) that had not even been sited and without the funds forwarded by the taxpayer.

    Ah yes, the Capital Redundancy Doofuses.

    They had to re-sell that land at a discount, costing the taxpayer $millions, and because these clowns were appointed (and this only came to light when elected officials like the mayor of Esquimalt outed them), there was no accountability back to them, electorally, professionally or financially.

    But, without these phony baloney jobs the apparatchiks , many with no marketable skills or experience, couldn’t do their power trips lording over us while electorally untethered.
