More people have been killed by wind turbines in just Oregon alone, than died at Three Mile Island.

In the early hours of Feb. 1, one of the spinning blades on a turbine at Portland General Electric’s Biglow Canyon wind farm in Sherman County launched into the night.

The 135-foot piece of fiberglass, wood and metal weighs more than seven tons.

It flew the full length of a football field.

An investigation by The Oregonian/OregonLive has found that the seemingly isolated incident, which has not been publicly reported until now, is part of a pattern of maintenance problems that have undercut production at PGE’s flagship wind farm, shortchanged ratepayers and landowners, and put those who cultivate wheat under the turbines – and their cropland itself – at risk.

  1. How does the term “farm” fit in with monstrous, useless, bird killing, eyesores called wind turbines?.
    That they can even be called turbines powered by wind seems bogus.
    Farms should only apply to crops and animals.

    1. Farms are applied to everything where there are lots of items, commonly accepted. Ever hear of server farms?

    When you step back and consider their actions,Gang Green are foul hypocritical scum.
    For while their words are wonderful,”Save the ……,Mother earth..”,they are all bullshit when you look at the things they do and have done.
    From their actions ,you could call the Cult of Calamitous Climate,”The campaign to kill the trees”.
    Or the “Campaign to extinguish Reality” for the real has no place in their mantra.

    Those actions.

    Kill more endangered raptors.
    Cheer for the rupturing of bats lungs.
    Grind forests into wood pellets.
    Clear cut ancient forests to install rotary choppers and solar panels.
    Remove water storage dams to save snails?.
    Prevent our “Brown Relatives” from enjoying modern technology,by denial of reliable electricity and clean water systems.
    (Which rely on reliable affordable electricity).
    Refrigeration?
    Impose useless “clean technology rules” such that our equipment burns more fuel for less work..Efficiency means nothing to this cult.

    So while gang Green talks real nice,they demonstrate a vicious hatred in every action.

    Small surprise ,for if you bother to listen to any one of them,they really do not like themselves..
    Which might be why they are willing members of this death cult.

    Gang Green as beneficial to civil society as gangrene is to your body.

    Actions.
    The only way to judge the intent of serial liars and deluded Do-Gooders.

      As vehicles “progressed” , the amount of utterly useless Emissions control increased…more crap = less mileage.

      What should have happened is for vehicle manufacturers to have Tuned said vehicles to run as lean as possible….and increase the mpg’s they could realize.

      Yea well, theres a whole industry out there deleting said emissions crap…

      My own truck has Zero emissions crud, no EGR, No Exhaust, No Cat…it’s a 2006 (No DEF). Empty truck…? ~22 Mpgs as opposed to the 17-18 when I bought it.

      As an aside, it seems Blackrock has decreed that DEF shipments will be reduced by 50% across N. America…. And you thought our supply chain was in trouble now…?? (Every Diesel engine Mfgd since 2010, has a DEF system…. Every one of them.)

      DEF: Diesel Emission Fluid..

        I am sticking with my 7.3l Fords.
        But when the pinheads attempt to mandate electric vehicle I will be ready,with the Functional Unit Two,affectionally known as the F.U.2 range extender.
        Featuring a diesel generator on a small trailer and a software/hardware hack to allow charging on the fly.
        For as soon as normal persons have to use EVs,they will realize “Time is Money”.
        The ignorant rich and entitled parasites blithely insist ‘You can afford to sit for 3 or 4 hours,each trip”.
        Could be because they have never engaged in productive work.
        Ever.

  4. No one should be surprised. A series of tests done by Ontario Hydro in the 1970s showed that the maximum throwing distance when a turbine rotor separates is approximately 1000 meters. The prospect of deaths or injuries from wind power is also expected. The most common form of death or injury, either work related or residential, is from falling.

  6. On top of having solar panels and windmills we should also harness energy from the waves but not just from the oceans, we need to create giant water reservoirs throughout the interior so to generate electricity….

    The reason Solar TM is so ineffective,is because the Sun is burning too low.
    To bring about the Brave New Future of “Super Clean Energy” we must increase Solar Output.
    By catapulting more mass into the solar furnace.
    What better way to “Save the Human Race”?
    Than by shooting Our Progressive Comrades into the Sun?
    Of course I will willfully misunderstand that directive and hear it as “Shooting Our progressive comrades with the rising of the Sun.”
    Same result either way.

  9. We were stuck in an 8-hour travel stoppage on BC 97C Connector last night. EV drivers were sweating it out in the heat, poor dears. Quite a few tried backing up or turning around to drive against the stopped cars on the shoulder. Fortunately for them the incompetent Mounties and BC road crews were nowhere to be seen to keep them from blocking or jamming up the stoppage any further. We had no worries with a 500 km range remaining in our natural recycled dinosaur derived hydrocarbon fuel. Another observation is how atrocious cell service is once in the BC high mountain highways. For this lack of service we pay through the nose.

  11. I had an interesting conversation last year with a PGE power auditor. In a nutshell, he let me know that every one of those wind farms runs at a consistent net power loss; they are just for show.
