Pandemics And Passports And Pilots, Oh My!

A fish rots from the human resources department;

Members of the Canadian aviation industry say growing backlogs at Transport Canada are making it more difficult for new and existing pilots to get their licences, and the federal government has failed to address the issue.

“They’ve completely dropped the ball,” said Dario Matrundola, president of Canadian Flyers Aviation College — a flight school based at Buttonville Airport northeast of Toronto.

“They don’t answer the phone, they don’t call you back, and you’re lucky if they answer emails.”

Transport Canada’s civil aviation department is struggling to issue the paperwork necessary to fly, effectively grounding an unknown number of Canadian and foreign pilots who train here. Of particular concern are unacceptable delays with Transport Canada’s issuance of medical certificates.

While applicants normally receive their certificates between 30 and 40 days after submitting their paperwork, some of Matrundola’s students have been left waiting more than a year.

“They’re still working, we’re still working — its just Transport Canada and actual government employees who aren’t doing anything,” he said.

  1. So, just fly without a license. Ooops, I forgot how stupid and cowardly Canadians are.

  2. “They don’t answer the phone, they don’t call you back, and you’re lucky if they answer emails.”

It’s a pattern of widespread incompetence found in all government, and businesses bigger than mom and pop. The Covid weapon was deployed successfully.

    1. It is touching how canaduh taxpayers believe that work-from-home civil servants actually do any work, they are on a permanent paid vacation courtesy of the taxpayers they are supposed to work for.
The librano/NDP-NFG ministers swan around the country pretending to be “governing” meanwhile everything is crashing and burning.

I dealt with one of them earlier today. It was rather irritating having to endure his cellphone issues…… after waiting more than half an hour to speak with him.

    1. If people can’t renew their passports, and have been treated like the scum you scrap off the bottom of your boots at airports, you don’t need pilots. Look! Our airline industry is at ZERO EMMISSIONS! Another Turd promise kept.
Up next, those damn industrious farmers! How dare they grow more food than we here can eat! We don’t need exports at the cost of emitting more horrible greenhouse gases. They must be brought to heel!

    2. People don’t seem to realize that far fewer pilots will be needed as Climate Scam progresses.
The current $40 ton is going to $170 ton by 2030.
The Liberals have just added another Clean Fuel Charge in addition.
And if you don’t realize that further “additions” are coming, then you won’t mind that YOU won’t be flying anywhere anyway.

And you probably didn’t hear about that English fellow that figured out that, in order to change from the Internal Combustion Engine to Electric would require multiples of the world supply of most of the materials needed to manufacture batteries. For Britain alone!

At this point, you should be realizing that they don’t forsee individual car ownership in your future.
Or home ownership, as Wall Street finds out that your home and landlordship is a good parking place for the trillions of dollars they have liberated from your pensions etc.
Just wait, you’re gonna be Jim Nabors surprised.

  3. Not responding is typical government SOP.
I had bureaucrats call when they thought I wouldn’t be in. [I would put in long days starting at 6AM (8 eastern).] Their plan was to leave a voicemail and run. You could just see the “oh shit, I have to speak to him” expression on their faces when I picked up.

  4. If the government was actively attempting to collapse the aviation industry to keep us serfs permanently grounded, would it act any differently? At this point, anyone who can’t see that the government is destroying freedom is too stupid to live.

    1. Its also a clever way of hiding pilots deaths and injuries:

“Surely he was unlicensed when he died.”

      “Don’t call me surely.”

  5. Globalists want open borders. Castreau wants open borders but only for non citizens. Since COVID, real Canadians have been pretty much prisoners in their own country, even their own province.
Canada like Australia and NZ are globalist trial runs.

  6. My husband is a retired pilot, when he turned 55 transport Canadstan gave him a list of 200 healthcare issues that “Might” arise and then demanded he go about proving they wouldn’t happen. Fed up with their “What if” harassment he retired. Yet not a squack from them over experimental vaccines that cause heart issues, I guess mythical “Might haves” is far more important to the snivel service than actual science? I wonder how many snivel servants are “Working” from home, would explain the gross negligence and incompetence of public works.

  7. It would help if that delusional pinhead Fidelicate the Fascist cancelled the rest of his “Summer of Slinking Around Tour” and worked on something other than turning Canada into another Sri Lanka.

  8. I don’t think the Fed bureaucrats have been back to their offices yet. I mean why work why Trudeau pays you (our money) to stay at home. Been two years an counting now…. all to save the health care system…. and how’d that work out? Stupid Country.

    1. And we have 92,000 more of those bureaucrats since the start of the “pandemic.” More money flushed and more gold-plated pensions to be paid by the tapped-out taxpayers.

      1. When taxpayers realise the game is rigged against them, that it isn’t worth killing yourself for ever decreasing pay, and just falling further and further behind, we will start to see a LOT of downsizing, clawing back, and a complete collapse of the tax base, as workers scale back, check out, and go “lean and mean”. See how “rich” these bureaucratic scum are then.

  9. While these accumulating government failures in transportation do serve the stated goals of green ideologues, they also demonstrate just how inefficient all government bureaucracies are. Just look at the timelines for, say, redeveloping a commercial property or obtaining a liquor license. Small projects in my city sit idle literally for years as they go through these insanely protracted processes. And no one can say why.

  10. Transport Canada Is to busy testing and revoking current licensed pilots licenses due vax injuries and death…

  11. I wonder if this private company, Canadian Bank Note Company, is part of the bottleneck. As the unofficial procurer of documents in our family, I’ve done paperwork for 3 passports, a PR card and a PAL renewals in the last year. I’ve noticed that the time between taking the fee and getting the documents is getting longer and longer.

A friend had her mail in passport renewal application returned for an error and the fee was not taken until after the corrected form was returned and processed. So, if the fee payment signals the completion of government employees part (also intolerably long) and the printed documents take weeks or months after to be delivered then perhaps the Canadian Bank Note Company (or other printing services) need to share the responsibility for this government’s failure to deliver services in a timely manner.

    1. I very much doubt it is the Canadian Bank Note.
I have worked at both locations in Ottawa for maintenance/upgrades many times.
      These are no-nonsense places.
As well, they do docs and whatnot for more than just Canada.

      1. Not necessarily due to incompetence. I remember a media story about the Biden administration wanting to give out gas gift cards but the electronic chip shortage made the plan impossible.
        https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2022/06/17/biden-gas-white-house/

It’s not a big leap to think there are other supply bottlenecks that are impeding the company that provides so many documents and bank notes for the Canadian and other governments. All documents and bank notes also contain high tech components for security.

        1. Could be.
But the chip shortage doesn’t apply to everyone everywhere.
(Our new car has all kinds of tech and there was zero delay from order to production to delivery. It came from Japan.)

The federal government has less than 20% of its people going to the workplace. Look to tips to see my link this a.m. or scroll up.
Anyone saying me they’re all doing as much work is insane or a bald-faced liar.

  12. It’s almost as if people didn’t realize that there may be consequences for turning every aspect of your life over to the Government.

    The Government that brought you:

    1. The Laughable Constitution with the Governments “Get out of jail free card” Section 1A.

    2. Which gives you our Joke of a Legal System, that far from being “Blind Justice”, only sees your gender, your color, your ancestry, your political correctness. In good news, the Liberal Party said that donating to the Liberal Party will no longer be a Judge job requirement. Which they apparently forgot in their latest appointments.

    3. Financial Repression and Ruinous Inflation.

    4. Trillion Dollar Deficits.

    5. Our Hurry Up and Wait Rationed Health Care System.

    6. No Armed Forces.

    7. Endless Taxation and Regulation.

To say nothing of Climate Scam and Virus Scam.

    Etc, etc, etc,etc…………ad nauseam.

Our Governments are Inept, Incompetent and Disingenuous to a fault.

    Less not more.

    1. Yes, but our health care is ‘free’ and the ‘envy of the world’. I hope you recognize sarcasm.

  13. When you’re stuck in the airport for hours start yelling that this is what the Liberal and NDP morons voted for.
Ask the crowd if the pretty hairdo and their virtue signaling vote was worth it.

    Carry a sign!

  14. Voters apparently don’t realize that there are consequences to elected a retarded asshole as prime minister. Turdeau had one job in his life, as a substitute drama teacher, and he lost it for diddling an underage girl. Girl? That can’t be right. Elect a jackass and things go for shit.

  15. The way I see it everything is going as planned. I don’t blame Trudeau half as much as I blame this country’s useless media who’ve been propping up this bag of hammers and his socialist dumbasses since day one.
They’re much more deserving of our scorn.
However, there’s a certain measure of comfort knowing that mobility in this country doesn’t discriminate based on political persuasion, which means no one escapes the suckage when things go South. So if you’re a liberal…enjoy. I can only assume it’s what you wanted.

Another mystery is how one writes a 2500 word essay without mentioning Transport Canada’s boss Omar Alaghabra. But I like Bryan so I’ll give him a pass today.

  16. Just a little tidbit from South of the Border: in the states a pilot receives his medical certification on the same day as the examination. Unless there is some medical condition discovered, no bureaucrats get involved.

Transport Canada is primarily a jobs program for otherwise unemployable bureaucrats.

    1. Potential solution here for Canadian pilots. American licenses are good in Canada so if they take the test down there and get a US medical they’re good to go. It’s apparently a straightforward test because they obviously recognize our licences in the first place.
