Economic reversal

After it appeared that the federal government had downed a dose of common sense by halting the vaccine mandate for cross border truckers, they have just reinstated economic suicide as official policy. If anyone thought that supply chain problems were bad now, just wait a few months.

After a day of confusion over border rules for truckers, the government confirmed Thursday Canadian drivers will have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to return back into the country or face testing and a lengthy quarantine.

  1. The Trudeau’s government is the enemy of the Canadian people. But the Canadian people elected his treasonous crowd and support his moronic mandates. Since we get the governments we deserve, may the Canadian people get the privation, hunger, pain, and despair they deserve.

    1. Agreed. I have been stocking the bunker shelves. Probably will get another round of supplies tomorrow. I have been preserving meat by drying – lots of work but takes less space and does not require refrigeration (specially vacuum sealed). I’m done with this Country. There is no cultural cohesion, no unifying traits. My wife’s family has branches that go back to the “Filles de Roi” and she’s a freaking second class citizen now. May the prick I’m Ottawa die a painful death.

      1. Get extra parts for your vehicles now , like oil, filters, plugs , tires , battery, etc.
If you can buy your oil by the 5 gallon or if you can afford it a barrel and a hand pump to pull it out.
Stuff be running low except the high priced goods.

        1. Our driving is very light, so I have not factored that in. But it’s a fair point. I will make a list!

        2. Yes, panic panic panic Pavlov.
Like they want you to do. Conditioning continues apace.
          Quit letting them play you.
Oh, and don’t get me wrong….they are playing us. And we respond.
Ok, let’s all run out to Cosco and load up.
How long will this meat last?should i buy that mini freezer that Costco is featuring coincidentally? Etc.
The bigger question here is about why the border guys issued a statement that was quickly refuted, without explanation, by the feds. What’s up with that shit?
          Fuckery afoot as per usual.
The psy ops games are coming at us faster and getting more obvious and desperate.

          1. Sure. I don’t have an answer to your questions, which are valid ones. But as far as I’m concerned, right now I see the little rectangular piece o’land where my home stands as a sovereign nation which needs resources to flourish. There is no panic. My country is just importing and storing goods.

          2. If you don’t get it now , then when ?
When do you think Dear Leader will be done tightening the screws ?

He who panics first, panics best.
But yeah I get your point.
The time to have gotten the above was months ago and the smart ones did, if you had money.
The people here reading this blog are ahead of the curve on this.
            The ordinary sheep aren’t.
You wanna see panic , wait a week or more when the light bulb comes on.

Toilet paper shortage, hold my beer.

      2. The country is run by a pack of nutty separatists.. As I have said many times before “No more PMs from Quebec. And that goes for his playskool cabinet as well!

  2. Let it happen. I’m getting the impression that peoples attitude towards covid is changing. In the next couple of weeks when its evident Covid is behind us, but there is a gigantic supply chain problem, more people will be angry at the government. And we’ll be done done.

  3. The truckers should simply refuse to serve Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal. Make those who voted that idiot Trudeau in pay the price for their stupidity.

    1. Absolutely excellent idea. They can then suffer like the rest of us as a result of their idiotic choices.

      1. Remember the little joke about the organs arguing about who was the most important … and when the arsehole chimed up that he thought he was, they all laughed him down?
Well they pissed him off and he clamped down tight and after about a week the other organs conceded that in fact he was the most important organ.

What I’m getting at here is that in fact the common man does hold significant power but like all power wielded, its only as effective as the imagination of those that use it. The facts are simply that if the various tradesmen refused to service the elite’s needs and the truckers refused to deliver goods to the Prog strongholds, and if Joe Citizen refused to show up for work till this tomfoolery ended then we might get some movement in the right direction.
Alas what we as a citizen group lack is cohesion, direction and determination … not to mention the sell-outs.
These people in power are smart…at least some of them , and this plan has been in the works for some time.
People have been foolish and have allowed themselves to be tantalized by uncontrollable debt which in turn becomes enslavement … AND FOR WHAT… a better standard of living? Not really …just a better level of control.

Learning to make do with what is necessary and in turn being fiscally responsible may in fact be the first step.

  4. “The statement said the government would continue to adjust border rules as the pandemic changed.”

The government has not given any consideration to natural immunity. There is nothing credible in their covid policy other than power and control.

    1. There are no shortage of reasons why this doesn’t make sense. If the covid rate is the same on both sides of the border, and I have no reason to think that it isn’t, why quarantine at all? Even if covid was more dangerous than a cold it still wouldn’t make any sense. And 14 days? Aren’t we down to 5 days now in Canada? I get the impression the whole purpose of this is to get people to bow to their wishes, and have to wonder what’s next.

      1. Never has made any sense for “health”.
        It is about control.
        Another related trucking story:
Ezra has a vid on Twitter of a trucker picking up 60,000 chicken carcasses at a farm in Ontario. Apparently maple leaf packing plant is closed due to covid restrictions.

      2. Good point about covid being on both sides of the border– there should be no border for travel, like pre 2001.

  5. Unvaxxed truckers will face testing and/or quarantine….as opposed to the fully vaxxed but untested truckers who can spread Covid freely.

  6. Its impossible to ignore empty grocery store shelves.. This might be the mistake that finally gets the crown price removed.. Call a election..

    1. Lol you still think voting changes anything? Anyone who thinks that hasn’t heard of Justin oh tool

  7. O’Doodles will probably be curled up in his “safe space” corner, clutching a security blanket, and sucking his thumb….. but his family’s been jabbed, so all’s well, isn’t it?

  8. The port of Vancouver is mandating trucks must be newer than 10 years old. If you like Chinese crap you’d better stock up. I just hope Toronto is hardest hit by all this. You are the problem.

    1. Thats the problem with the port of Long Beach and Los Angeles. Clean trucks. Most of the fleet servicing those ports don’t comply.
Amazon and Home Depot seen it coming so they started new shipping hubs elsewhere.

  9. Radio Yerevan was asked: What is the most likely permanent effect of COVID-19 on the economy?

The answer was: Temporary supply chain issues.

  10. At the Superstore today in the Shawnessy, Calgary S.W. branch I noticed they had one complete aisle on both sides displaying only toilet paper. The sign above was blank. I checked with them to see whether they were having supply problems. Thought they put what they did, rather than have blank shelves. Previously the space had been a display of “soups and sauces” etc., the gentleman said. He said that the “store was undergoing renovations.” Right. Has anyone noticed similar odd stocking practices? If so, where?

    1. Went to Brentwood Co-op to do a major restocking as we had let our shelves become depleted. Was able to get almost everything I had on the list, but did notice there were gaps in the shelves. Last visit to Southland Superstore noticed serious gaps in International section for large rice bags.

      1. I could see that happening on a Monday as a result of weekend shoppers, but by Thursday afternoon things are usually fresh and shelves usually well stocked.

Sometimes it’s a staff shortage problem, that was the case here, a few years ago.

Btw, the rest of the Store where I was, Frances, was well stocked, on the other hand.

    2. Save on Foods, on Macleod Trail south of Heritage Drive.

Lots of large gaps in almost every aisle Jan. 12th.

As an aside, I have also noted that Superstore and the Real Canadian Wholesale have put in Electronic E Ink Price Tags they are Wireless. The price can be changed remotely! I haven’t seen new freezers that they got Taxpayer money for?

      1. Thanks for the info, Em.
I shop at that Safe-On-Foods branch as well. Perhaps the recent B.C. floods were ‘partially’ responsible for the supply issues– Head Office is out of Langley, BC.

  11. Doesn’t really matter in the long run. There’s no less than 3 policies at play here:

    1) Vaccination mandate for truck drivers entering Canada. Jan 15
    2) Vaccination mandate for truck drivers entering the USA. Jan 22
    3) Truck drivers working for companies subject to federal labor law (crossing either provincial or international borders). ETA unknown. This was announced in December but we don’t know when it will kick in.

All 3 will be in effect at some point. Any one of the 3 means cross border drivers will have to be vaccinated.

    1. Of course it matters in the long run. Unless you think economic destruction doesn’t matter.

The point is that Trudeau should have been on the phone to Biden to convince him to drop the U.S. requirement, as opposed to joining hands with him and jumping off the cliff.

  12. The water has become quite warm, soon it’ll be too hot to jump out.

I doubt the trucking industry will circle the wagons and simply refuse to comply, but an industry wide strike is likely the only way they’d win this argument with the feds.

    1. It doesn’t matter what Canadian truckers do anyway. American truck drivers don’t need cross border runs. They’ll just go domestic. And we need trucks coming north much, much more than they need trucks coming south.

This is the, “getting what you voted for, good and hard,” lesson incoming. As if Canadians have the intelligence to learn it.

  13. After two years of being praised as essential, but forbidden to use the restroom or buy a sandwich, I suspect any oldtime drivers who can afford to do so; “Great time for a break”.

The utter incompetence and petty tyranny of the roll out of these “Mandates”..
    Definition; Mandate’
“Incoherent rules and ravings to serve current narrative”..

Seem almost designed to provoke persons of any independence..
Best cure for all our parasitic overload, just stop working.
    Cash only.
Take early retirement, cause it becomes inflated more everyday.
Comply..in exactly the same way these cretins provide “public service”..

Why are we,The West, still involved with these idiots?
Maybe we should just burn down all the border crossing building and offer the inhabitants new jobs or deportation to Ottawa?

If we have no control over who comes here why do we care what crosses as freight?
Seems Ottawa’s contempt for the laws flows outward.
Why should we bother to obey?

Yes it is a slippery slope, which is why the actors chosen to play the part of government and perform the required roles of governance, actually have very limited roles..
They either perform the morality play we all agree to,or we start smashing up the theatre..

Rules for thee but none for me and “What you gonna do about it,Peon”?
Are a demand for rushing the stage..
You could call it Death wish theatre.

Conservatives require the actors to play the roles deadpan and straight, these are the standards and these are the consequences..

Liberals act like they can ad-lib and rule..
Such a chasm cannot be bridged, which is why we will be banishing our progressive comrades to an exclusive playground ,where they can live their dreams, unable to bring down upon the rest of us,the chaos and ruin they endlessly seek.

When we form Buffalo, due to unstoppable economic forces, the first proclamations..
    ” 1 No Welfare”.

2 Public Servants to be rewarded according to the results of their actions..

    The outflow will be glorious..
Edmonton will be a ghost town.

    1. Yup.
I have a DZ and my health exam was due back in August 2020 but the government let it slide till last week.
I didn’t do it cause 1. My GP won’t see me unless vexxed.
      2. Had to jump through hoops to see another GP at a clinic .
      3. Figure I had enough abuse and hassle.

Have to renew my license tomorrow and am gonna drop down to a G.
Let the gov put those newbies from Roxham Road in the driver’s seat.
I can easily get another job driving cube vans .
      Less trouble and headaches.

  14. Make no mistake the bad times are already here. Prices are going throught the roof and supplies are shrinking.

This bullshit is to give the gov’t cover when it gets worse. I do the shopping in our household. The grocery flyer specials are gone after the first day or two they’re advertised. The produce section is often empty or picked over after three days. I shop at more than one grocery store and it’s the same at all of them. Last week whole chickens were on sale. They were the size of small turkeys. There are huge problems in the supply chain. I’ve started shopping at the asian grocery store. They seem to have alternative supply sources that are keeping them well stocked.

I think the gov’t knows that supply is tightening up and they’re setting up the unvaccinated truck drivers as scapegoats for why the shelves are increasingly empty.

  15. When a decision is made, but there was a worse option, they Have to Revisit it and Do The DUMBEST thing possible.

  16. The truckers have the power to end this policy and anything else they want. If the truckers stop shipments of food, fuel and medical supplies. The people will either comply or die. The government would become irrelevant.

It is truly amazing and frightening how much real power the trucking industry has if they chose to use it.

    1. John, the same applies to the citizenry.
That power is indeed frightening and amazing, which is why we usually chose not to use it.
      Shunning the matching responsibilities.
Seems the Evil Greedy Bastards are intent on forcing us to do so.
Seems so odd, that the parasites believe they rule, delusions of adequacy is the only rational explanation I have.
