Hydrocarbon haters: You have no chance of success. Zero. Seven billion people agree, every day

There exists a very vocal, very powerful and very well funded group of ideologues that are blatantly determined to destroy the oil and gas industry. Elizabeth May, Tzeporah Berman, Bill McKibben, and the rest of the small but nasty group. They’re not ‘transitionists’, they’re borderline anarchists. They mock and ridicule any attempt by the existing energy business to make emissions progress. They have absolutely no chance of success, and the world needs to stop pandering to their blind hatred and call them out. Read on…

  1. Anarchists are against using state power for anything. If real anarchists were running things, there would be no regs at all preventing oil and gas exploitation.

    1. Billed Gairdner coined the term “libertarian socialist,” where you’re completely free to do whatever the state tells you to to.
But you get to be a tattooed, earinged layabout with a shitty attitude while conforming to the easy way out philosophy.
Oops, a 40 hour work week gives you PTSD? More like an eye problem? You can’t see yourself working? Compensation please.
The leading edge of cancel culture. Our future leaders. Boomers’ kids doing a very shitty job in business and government, imo.

Not reassuring; just reality. Liberals aren’t liberals, conservatives aren’t conservatives, progressives are collectivists and anarchists are just idiots having a temper tantrum for not getting their way; iow not much has changed in the last 100 years.

It’s worse now and will make things much harder than need be going forward, at the expense of civility, liberty and prosperity.

      1. “…anarchists are just idiots having a temper tantrum for not getting their way”
Nothing could be further from the truth. You are simply buying into the collectivist definition. Anarchists are stone cold, sober economists. I suggest you start by reading “The Machinery of Freedom” by David P. Friedman.

        1. So you think that the anarchists of the left (in context, from Shamrock’s post above) are true libertarians and understand economics? I strongly disagree.

The Antifa string-along mindset is “I get to do whatever I want, take whatever I want, destroy whatever I want, and because the government is there to keep me free (e.g. never be responsible for their actions) that makes me a libertarian.” They have no concept of second and third order effects, and are most definitely not true libertarians. But if you ask them, some will say they’re libertarians. And how they identify is the only thing that matters to some.

          1. Leftist anarchist is an oxymoron. Read the book, and stop spouting progressive establishment orthodoxy.

          2. “Read the book,” I do read The Bible. There’s nothing in there about anarchists or libertarians. Just the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.

          1. Which is why the US courts refusing to hear the mounds of evidence of voter fraud causing Sleepy Joe to get into office means that the US, as currently formed, is doomed.

            Thanks for playing!

          2. There are two examples in history, that I know of, where markets thrived for hundreds of years in the absence of a central state power.

    2. Problem with these nutbar politicians is that even when the economic damage and life altering occurs.
They have no clue how products are made and the energy needed for all industries and farmers.
Their in for the politics and media coverage and nothing else.
Our politicians have already made it totally illegal to create many products.
we buy from China and other countries.

      1. That is correct. We cannot free ourselves from China’s yoke without utterly deregulating our on economies. Our own leaders are the threat, the door through which China is able to assert control. Close that door, and the threat disappears.

          1. This from the idiot who fell for the Russia Trump hoax, the fine people hoax and now the fair election hoax.
It has nothing to add to adult debates but fits well into DeMarxist argue by lies, omissions and projection mode.

    3. Trudeau and Biden’s Net Zero means 7B people have to die slowly of starvation. Net Zero means No Fossil Fuels. Fossil Fuels provide the food for 7B people. It provides the horse power to grow and deliver the food. It provides the fertilizer and pesticides and herbicides. Without Fossil Fuel we are back to 1820 style agriculture, human muscle power and animal power. And still the Brain Dead Zombies chant we want Net Zero we want Net Zero.
Bring it, bring net zero I will chain the simple bastards to my JD tractor and they will work for food if I decide to feed them. It could just be That It Ain’t Your Day To Eat On Maggies Farm.

  2. Berman is a warped one. She got her start spiking trees on the west coast. I’m sure a few lumberjacks ended up in hospital thanks to her.

She’s the sort who, if she saw you eating an ice cream cone, would come over and spit on it because she doesn’t think you deserve to have one.

    1. BA, I don’t know much about Berman, and really don’t care, but if she ever came over and spat on my ice cream (of which I’m an addict) she would be wearing it with prejudice!

      1. The less you know of more, the better, as she is quite revolting as a person. She was the one who openly proclaimed that the area around Fort MacMurray was a Tolkeinesque wasteland and, worse, had crowds of sheeple believing it.

On the other hand, the more you know of her the better, as knowledge of one’s enemy is always useful.

She was on Red Rachel’s oil industry panel a few years ago, which tells you a lot about both women.

  3. The only problem is that they are determined to run everything into the ground and at that catastrophic point in time it will become apparent that they are totally wrong. Nobody will own up to screwing things up utterly of course, and we will simply go back to using fossil fuels the way we did before the greenies came along with their brilliant ideas. The damage they did will never be allowed to be spoken of again.

  4. The UAE is inaugurating a nuclear power plant that will supply a quarter of that nation’s energy needs. China will build more too. More and more I sense the future is nuclear.

  5. Terry is describing yer average household Progressive.
    Parasitic Overload.
I want to bring back duelling,as even if I lose I am still better off.
As in winning I remove one dangerous idiot and intimidate thousands..
    If I lose?
    No longer my problem.
That art of projecting all ones inner conflict and self despite upon an “other” is the only real skill these losers have.
Although it would give me immense pleasure to impose the standards Dizzy Lizzy desire for us,upon her and her kind.
And especially if I retain the television rights.

  6. There is always a need for liquid fuels, even in 500 years time with atomic energy everywhere. The reason is that it is just so easily handled, stored and distributed, and it has high energy content.

    1. True, but nuclear could be used to synthesize those liquids from the air and the water.

      1. I’m shocked by that UnMe. That statement is the only rational thought that you have entered on this site in the last 2 years since I have been following it.

        1. Think again, Greg. Considering the source, the process that is being discussed is bound to be deranged in method and execution and is therefore useless.

  7. From the article:
“The web is full of dire and wildly inaccurate climate warnings from decades ago, warning how New York City’s west highway will be underwater by 2020 (not even remotely close), how the Maldives will be underwater (the government continues to build new resorts and runways), how there will be endless droughts (there aren’t, any more than there ever have been) and on and on and on and on. No one is listening anymore.”

Sorry, wrong. The sheeple here, in the US and in Europe are listening and believing. Their governments and political parties are listening and acting accordingly, all governments, municipal, provincial/state and federal. If they don’t believe, then they pretend to, because you can’t get elected by being a climate realist.

  8. Yes, they are nasty people. And yet, despite the decades of economic damage they have done, absolute and total fools insist on extending them the :benefit of the doubt”. Speaking and writing as if they ever had good intention.

We are losing because people like Terry Etam, and people who give such as those a platform insist on being polite, instead of punching people in the face.

“We’re better than that” is a suicide pact.

    1. ‘Punching people in the face’ = you’ve lost the battle of ideas, it’s over. I think we just had four years of macho-BS pwning the libs stuff in the US, and now the Dem-progs are set for the next generation. You can’t learn, so you should just shut up already.

      1. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. We should initiate a “Punch a Greenie” day every month from now on.
