Imagine how much less it’d be without arsonists.
Facts are just needless details that get in the way of reporting the important message to mold society the way we want. Almost fifty years ago, I was told by my boss that in his experience when you are involved with the media in reporting something you are involved in, the article almost always comes out wrong. It’s only gotten worse since.

Wildfire reporting really sucks. Here are a few demonstrable facts:
California wildfires burned several times as much area in the early part of the 20th century than recently.
Last year’s Canadian fires were the lowest in recorded history – by far.
Global fires have been decreasing for decades.
All about where the fires happen, right?
I sense a Twitter banning by the fact checker fakers. I understand this, like the Hunter Biden laptop, is Russian disinformation.

OK, just like the Bobulinsky revelations with incontrovertible evidence of Joe Biden cashing in on Chinese bribery?

My parents watch the CBC everyday and largely believe anything they report.
So for the odd days they switch to CTV or “other” channels they’ll see similar news and it seems to confirm the entire world is afire from global warming. They’re 90 & 85 and the chance of their viewing habits changing are zero.
But for anyone younger and still voting… the results will be the same.

Yes. Global warming is as real as you believe, and if you only see MSM news, the world’s afire, regardless of any actual facts.
Most of us who actually fight these fires, know that the fuel buildup in forests is a far more significant factor than a fraction of a degree greater warmth on any given day.
Mapping last summer’s fires in NSW reveals a string of fires down the Eastern ranges, and almost nothing in the Western half of the State. For those unfamiliar with our geography and weather patterns, the Western or inland half of NSW is HOTTER and DRIER than the eastern ranges… so if hotter and drier aren’t producing more fires, what is?
The answer, of course, is that Western NSW is almost entirely grazing and agricultural land. We have had an extended drought, so there was minimal fuel. DOH!
It’s the fuel, stupid!
The areas that burnt were the areas where forest mismanagement had permitted fuels to build up and access to fight fires was severely limited by terrain and lack of vehicle tracks.
