I actually have an unpopular take on them though: they are what people want or, at least, they are what the loud plurality wants. Speaking with my AB MLA about it she said I was one of the very few people communicating to her concerns about the lockdowns with the vast majority of communications wanting more lockdowns. Yes, there are some reasons for the politicos and technocrats to be deflecting blame from themselves, to look like they are doing something but they would not be doing these lockdowns if they didn’t think they had the support to do so.
I keep reading about how fed up people are, etc., but I don’t see it in the community and I don’t sense it in my circles. It’s not the power-mad politicians and utilitarian technocrats who worry me that much but my neighbours….
