The Kansas City Star editorial board has found their inner Woke Karen and smeared on the guilt & fear very heavily:
But this fact is inescapable: Gatherings of almost any size this Thanksgiving are still dangerous and should be avoided.
Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas is more blunt. “Please, change your plans,” he said. “I’ve had 35 Thanksgiving turkeys in my lifetime. I can wait until next year for turkey 36.”
This isn’t getting through to everyone. An estimated 180,000 people are expected to travel through Kansas City International Airport during the Thanksgiving holiday, a scary number. There is anecdotal evidence that front-porch parties and weekend bar-hopping remain a thing.
But remember: While Thanksgiving is a holiday on the calendar, it’s also an idea. Gratitude and grace will survive a canceled dinner, or a missed slice of pie. There’s always next Thanksgiving, if we take care of ourselves now.
Next year? You honestly think the same voices won’t be screaming the same, or worse, next year? Maybe they won’t have to when the larger state has imposed Communist China like restrictions on everyone who can only travel with a digital vaccination passport. Come to think of it, if Biden & comrades attempt to impose is national lockdown, aided with guns pointed at citizens who don’t comply, then the test against a once free people will come much sooner.

Obedience and submission. Two of the lefts favourite things. The whole mask wearing thing has zero to do with health. It has everything to do with being the easiest way to see if you are being obedient and doing what you’re told. They never know if they are forcing your thoughts to be in line but they can sure see if you have your mask on or not. As long as they know they are forcing you to submit to something they get all happy inside.
The “Case Fatality Rate” in the US has dropped from 6% <- HOLY CRAP! to 1% <-Still scary, but not “shutdown the world" scary, as treatments have improved, these are people who went to a doctor. The “Infection Fatality Rate” (everybody who ever caught it) is somewhere between 0.2% and 0.7%. This is still take reasonable precautions (including wearing masks in indoor public spaces), isolate if you are sick and see a doctor quick, territory but it’s not shut down civil liberties territory.
Alas this pandemic came during an election year, and so it was exploited for all it was worth. “Never let a crisis go to waste!” Basically I am in the “f*ck it” camp anymore. I don’t blame people for not trusting anybody.
Where’s their … “granular data” … that suggests family gatherings will cause death? Why do they persist in printing only the most broad, useless, meaningless data? Whenever they publish ‘rates’ of death, or cases and whatnot you can be assured that the REAL numbers are small. That is why they’re choosing to select ‘rates’ to You are being LIED to … with useless data and statistics. Where? and Who? is the ChiCom Flu making sick? The government won’t tell you. Probably for the same reason they don’t give the names or photos of criminal perps … unless … they’re white.
I am visiting my daughter and our 10mo. old grandson (he is a gorgeous, happy, genius … and walking at 10mos.!) … no amount of FEAR porn will curtail activities that I KNOW are “safe” and secure. This cancel culture sucks donkey balls.

The Karens of the world don’t care that the WHO and the CDC lost all credibility right from the start with this thing with their “travel restrictions from China are unnecessary and xenophobic” to “masks don’t work. You must wear a mask even while having sex” flip-flops. Nor do the Karens care that the authoritarian governments they want us to blindly obey are the same governments who give free passes to large gatherings of rioters, looter and protesters. Protect the vulnerable. Quarantine the sick. Leave the rest of us free to decide what precautions we feel are necessary.
This will eventually result in a lot of deaths, but not in the way they are thinking. Or hoping, for that matter.
Some lockdown measure will go too far and there will be a massacre, either of civilians or of LEOs trying to enforce the measure. Or both.
That will trigger a free-for-all.
I know I’m going to die in my home, but I hope I live long enough to see at least some of the politicians and government drones who wanted this brought to justice by the mobs. Considering the corruption throughout the state and the law, that’s the only way forward.

Annnnnd … guess what ? EVERY Thanksgiving will be the LAST Thanksgiving for 2,813,503 Americans. So … a few CHICOM deaths call for the cancellation of Thanksgiving? Puhleeze.

We now know that asymptomatic people do not spread the bug, and that it poses little risk to healthy people. Therefore, if vulnerable and sick people stay home, the whole thing will blow over pretty quickly, as these things have always done.
A few days ago, read a commentary to the effect that Granny and Grandad should get to choose which risks they are willing to take. Assuming Granny is about 86 and has several of those “co-mobidities”, she is probably very aware that she could “shuffle off this mortal coil” (to quote my aunt) at any time. Therefore, if she has decided that she wishes to celebrate this holiday (Thanksgiving – US, Hanukah, Christmas, etc.) with as many of the family as she can and is willing to take the risk, why should the government deny her what may be this last treasured time with the family?
I live for the day that Robert no longer pollutes this blog with his crap posts. It was much better when it was only Kate.
