    Maybe I should treat this as dating advice… Listen Girl:
    If someone has treated you trust so poorly in the past, why would you believe them again? Seems like you’re asking to be let down again. Girls go back to their abusers because their self-esteem is so low, they think that no one else will want them.

    The most likely outcome is that both the Chinese and Western intelligence agencies and leadership groups are full of it. We don’t have to pick one side over the other if we want both to lose.

    1. I don’t disagree with their findings. The same way that I agree with BASF about the chemical composition of mustard gas.

      Coming to the same conclusion doesn’t give credibility to the garbage organization that also got there. It’s like going out to exercise and believing that anyone else you see has done the same thing as you. It’s a childish heuristic. They may have started elsewhere, may be doing something else, or may be going somewhere else.

      The question remains, is your self-esteem so low that you’d give trust back to someone who has regularly abused it?

      In semi-legal terms, this is the Poop-Smoothie problem. Our intelligence agencies (western nations) have allowed poop into our morning smoothie. How much good stuff would you have to put in with poop to want to drink it? Is there a certain amount that makes you say no more? For me any poop is too much poop, because I don’t want to drink poop.

      1. Commenting in a Canadian context only, Intelligence Agencies collect and analyse data that are then provided through the bureaucracies to the politicians. The politicians then inform, on an apparently sanitized and selective basis, the media. The media puts their spin on whatever information was given to them by the politicians. We, the common folk, never or seldom see the pure data/analyses from the intelligence community and probably only then in a historical context.
        I have known and have spoken with, over decades, Intelligence officers on a informal level. They have never, and I mean never, given me squat.
        Perhaps some, have direct access to leakers from such Agencies and have the clearance level and training to contradict their (mis) information…or lack thereof? Would love to hear from you.

Ideally, the CPC and PPC could agree on this, after one or both form a new government in the next election, they would begin a process of full investigation of our current ties to China and make a full report to the Canadian people within twelve months, with powers to bring charges where warranted. If at that time, Canadians vote these idiots back in or do worse and go further left, then it’s full time wexit and abandon the federation. There is some chance of an earlier election than the usual four year cycle. All it would take would be for a number of Liberals to desert the party, or for the Bloc to join the CPC members in a vote of non-confidence.

    As to our fellow citizens who see no problem in collaboration between Canada and China, they are useful idiots. I don’t think that people that blind to the horrible reality of the PRC can be brought back into the fold of respectability, and that means the Liberal Party of Canada is essentially a doomed organization, it either has to keep doing bad and wrong things, or be exposed to a large enough understanding that they cannot continue to function. And that will be a good thing.

  11. I would take anything from American intelligence with a bucket of salt. Plenty of them need to be sitting in jail cells.

    That the virus escaped from a lab is largely irrelevant at this point anyway. The CCP knew that they had a huge problem on their hands then chose to cover it up rather than sound the alarm, endangering the world as a result. Liability can be assigned right there without the need to split hairs.

    The current PR deflection campaign by China and its western agents, as Tucker points out, is worthy of note. Its effectiveness, considering the reputations of politicians and the media, is probably pretty low. But it’s a cheap tactic and the CCP has a lot to lose.
