Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Similar to the situation with Calgary’s LRT Green Line, albeit on a larger scale. We’re about to be saddled with an LRT line coming in two stages, but each stage at the price originally quoted for the entire line. Originally quoted at $4.5B for the entire line, it’ll be twice that and several years late. For a 45km line, that’s $200 Million per kilometer. For a glorified streetcar. And no, I don’t expect it to come in on budget.
That sounds like Edmonton Transit’s LRT extension into the Mill Woods area in the SE of the city. Construction’s been in progress for the past several years, the landscape looks like something out of a disaster movie, and it’s nowhere close to being finished.
If I recall correctly, it took something like 5 years to build the LRT extension from the U of A to what’s now called Century Park (where the old Heritage Mall used to be).
Yup, and just like Edmonton, it’s now going to be underground. The original quotes were all for surface or super-surface (1 or 2 stories up, not at ground level) and now they’re tunneling under a river that has been known to flood. I wonder how that will turn out?
Because nothing says “green” like working where the sun can’t shine.
And I am gonna bet there wont be any fancy stations like the line up to West Hills…Copper Roofs n all – no underpasses to allow speedy Vehicular traffic.
It will end up being a carbon copy of that beyond Assinine stretch from Memorial to McKnight…with tons of level crossings to Create another traffic nightmare.
Nowhere near the Tax base along that line ya see…
Classic Calgary.
I have no sympathy, for anyone who doesn’t simply leave a place, after it becomes clear a place has gone full socialist.
California, Venezuela, Cuba, Kampuchea, …
You voted for it. You refuse to abandon the place,. You get to suffer for as long as you live in denial.
No leader is coming to save you. The time of voluntary servitude is long since over. No one at city hall, the legislature, the parliament, the governor’s mansion,… none of them are there for any reason outside of personal enrichment.
It’s been that way for decades. Maybe always. Do it yourself. Stop waiting for whatever great white hope you’ve been delaying for.
Kevin, I can’t disagree with your argument. The fact is, I didn’t vote for any of these clowns. Unfortunately, too many brain-dead people did. I don’t see that it’s much different anywhere; politicians at all levels in it just to see how much they can get.

Does that surprise you? At all?
Nearly $1B to build tracks between Fresno and Madeira. Nope. That doesn’t include the land cost. Nor the trains. And Not the electrical infrastructure $24M/mile. Low bid. For JUST the tracks. Way to fleece em, Mr. Blum. Way to line your pockets Di Fi
You gotta give it to the “Democrats”, when they indulge in the practice of corruption, they don’t go low ball.
Hmm sounds like Ottawa’s LRT.
I think the truth of the matter is that modern Western nation have become so decadent that they are not capable of doing anything.
I don’t mean decadent in a moral sense. But what is the word to use when it is seriously proposed to destroy all energy infrastructure in the name of an imaginary problem, global warming; or to deny biological gender for ideological reasons?
