Always Winter, Never Christmas

It helps if you think of woke piety as a kind of positional good, a marker of in-group status, and so the goal posts have to move, and keep moving, leading to ever greater contrivance and ever more absurd definitions of oppression. There’s an in-built neediness that leads to escalation and all manner of bizarre phenomena. From “social justice” activists fabricating ‘hate’ crimes for lack of any real ones, to agonised Guardian articles about the menace posed by heteronormative cupcakes and spellcheck software, and about how men discussing barbecues is not only “oppressively penetrating,” but about as “oppressively penetrating” as a thing can be.

On the agonies of the left.

  1. What the Winegards are describing is Original Sin. Everything in this world is tainted by what the new Preachers indicate is evil.

  2. I’m still trying to figure out how the democrats, that are framing women as weak ignorant victims….is empowering women

…even if you assume any of it was true…..who in their right mind would admit to witnessing it…..you would get destroyed

    Kabuki theater

  3. In the 1970’s … I was aWOKEened to the fact that Americans of African (and other dark-colored heritages) descent, insisted upon being called … Black. Black Power. Black Pride. Etc.

I have continued to refer to blacks … as black. I became fully “evolved” in about 1971 … and have refused all subsequent devolutions of our language, including using hyphens to describe ANY American. I am totally secure in my WOKEness. Don’t need any pop culture trend telling me what to say, or how to say it. OTOH … just like Jordan Peterson says … I will refer to each individual as they specifically request I refer to them. Because I’m an affable guy.

  4. and technology merely accelerates the evolving, ever changing linguistic landscape to the point it is clearly impossible to keep up.
then the heads start exploding. we need to start walking around in hazardous waste suits and gas masks like some kind of impending bio-chemical war threat.

  5. “…and so the goal posts have to move, and keep moving, leading to ever greater contrivance and ever more absurd definitions of oppression….”

Contrivance indeed…and absurd pretence. All whipped up to a frenzy pitch by the insatiable desire for individual recognition.

    A society of *&^%$#g drips.

  6. The leech has two daughters:
    Give and Give.
    Three things are never satisfied;
    four never say, “Enough”:
    Sheol, the barren womb,
the land never satisfied with water,
and the fire that never says, “Enough.”

  7. The competitiveness over “Best Victim” and “Victim of the Moment” are very fierce.
Rather amazing when you consider these are the trophy children, who were taught that competition is wrong, everyone is winner and other such BS.
Who knew the virtuous would be so needy.?
Olde English is full of apt descriptors for these idiots.
Poltroon having a nice ring to it.
Twit,Twat and brainless gnat also apply.
I used to suspect that much of this madness was a send-up, where some clever wordsmiths were testing to see how far the ignorance and banality would go…but satire is dead killed by laughtrac.

      Indeed.

  8. Of course the “Woke” don’t actually want to live in the classless society they claim to dream of. In that society, they would be among the first to be put to death by the revolutionaries, being (with few exceptions) unfit to spend every waking moment doing back-breaking farm work, or pretty much anything resembling actual work really.
