Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has verbally resigned to Chief of Staff John Kelly in anticipation of being fired by President Trump, according to a source with direct knowledge. Per a second source with direct knowledge: “He’s expecting to be fired,” so he plans to step down.

  1. I have not followed the Mueller “investigation” et. al., very carefully, since it depresses me too much. But please tell me that this resignation represents a positive for the beleaguered Trump presidency.

    1. You certainly haven’t followed this presidency much, otherwise you would recognize it is his enemies who are beleaguered, not him.

      1. My last sentence in my post implies the resignation ought to be a positive, at least to any sane observer. But these are insane times. E.g., the Kavanaugh inquisition is so insanely over the top, I refuse to follow it at all.

        1. And at 4:30 pm Eastern time TV new is reporting that Rosenstein is NOT resigning. Reason? It would be seen a a negative for the Democrats and the deep-state cartel, so Rosenstein backtracked. So presumably Trump will fire him, with the corporate media cartel attacking Trump for doing so. No mention of Rosenstein’s corrupt maneuvers by the corrupt media though, through all of this.

    2. This all comes down to media spin at this time just before the US mid-term election. Rosenstein has been obstructing the release of documents unless they are all blacked out. But most MSM won’t report anything that’s in documents if it vindicates Trump or they spin it somehow against Trump. Mueller is causing much more damage thru the MSM PR war. He’s churning up stuff eg Cohen & Manafort that has nothing to do with Trump colluding with Russians but MSM still tars Trump cuz Trump hand picked them. Meanwhile DC is full of crooks on the Dem Team but MSM won’t go there. Mueller needs to be taken down by making known his role in 911 coverup & Uranium One.

    1. get trump to say he has no plans to fire RR, and as such RR will then leverage that to staying on.

    2. or to pin his own duly deserved resignation on trump so it can be implied it’s trumps fault and as such obstruction of justice.

    Both are a way to try to tie trumps hands.

        Rosensteins actions are designed to give the appearance of being carried out on his shield.

        He is not resigning because of gross misconduct he is doing so because trump “forced” him out.

        I doubt Trump would have showed his hand.

        If he was going to fire him he would do it when RR was out of town, so they could secure the contents of his office.

    2. It is Rosenstein hoping to avoid obstruction of justice charges when the docs are released as they will incriminate him, ampng others. Of course, there will still be criminal charges.

If Rosenstein has indeed resigned (which I would wait for), it’s not because of the reports of him wanting to wear a wire when meeting Trump, but because he knows he can’t stop the avalanche of damaging revelations upcoming of process and power abuse by him and Obama Democrats, so wants to just get out of the way to get away.

    Btw, this is the real reason for the Kavanagh “revelations,” a smokescreen for DeMarxists to skulk away to their obstructionism.

    Mark Levin hit it out of the park last night on his show, detailing how, for years, the Democrats involved in confirming judges throughout the system, searched for dirt on possible GOP nominees, all directed through their radicalist leftist elements.

    When will the real Democrat party of JFK and others step up and put an end to the leftist cabal who have no sense of decency, pride or care for rule of law & due process? None, because it’s all about power, power, power.

    This latest Kavanagh accusation, for which the NYT of all papers could find no corroboration whatsoever, and predictably the DeMarxists want to suspend the hearing to further their fantasy of seizing back the House and the Senate.

    Even CNN is being cautious on this one, just reporting rather than editorializing. I personally think massive law suits are on the way from Kavanagh and frankly this the only way to stop the power lusting chicken little crowd, since the voters don’t seem disgusted enough to do so.

      I once admired the American system and it’s vaunted “checks and balances” but now see that it is

  7. Question. I read elsewhere that if Rosenstench is fired, the succession plan within the DOJ controls who takes over, while if he resigns, Trump gets to pick, either from persons already confirmed by the Senate, or another person to be so confirmed.
    Does anyone have knowledge about this?

      If the 49-year-old Francisco takes over the Mueller investigation, he could allow it to continue, narrow its scope or end it.
      In past testimony, he has argued against the need for special counsels and in favor of allowing the president broad executive powers.**

  8. Well, apparently the documents to be released this week, those that Rosenstein hid as long as possible, make his “resignation” inevitable. There will still be criminal charges later. YEAH! Now, how about some the “Liberal deep state”, AKA Canada?

  14. Rosenstein is implicated in the FISA scandal because he signed off on the last renewal application for Carter Page. By that point it was pretty much proven that nothing contained in the “Steele Dossier” was true, which means he willfully lied and misled the court. Because he is the DAG and Sessions is recused, Rosenstein is the one who has to sign off the release of classified info, per Trump’s order – so he’s got a conflict of interest. His options are: resign, refuse to release the info and get fired, or recuse himself. It will not surprise me if he refuses to resign – he’s acting as a firewall against the corruption being exposed. Trump will not fire him (at least not until after the mid-terms) because that plays into the Dems plan to call the President a tyrant, and start impeachment proceedings against him, should they win in the mid-terms. So that leaves recusal, which is I think what Rosenstein will be forced to do.

  15. I am finally seeing this Dem worm of fascism turn. The latest “re-remembering” will hurt, not help their cause to ensure Kavanagh is never the swing judge, plus voters’ gaze must be averted to the massive abuse of power by the Obama gang and RINOs.

    I have no doubt there will be impeachments after the mid-terms, but not Trump. Ring them all up, make all of them do the perp walk. Release damaging revelations of DeMarxist abuse of power drip by drip, political death by a thousand cuts.

  16. The thing you have to understand about Rosenstein signing the FISA extension is that he already told you why he’s safe on that. When he testified, he said it wouldn’t surprise him if what he was told was in the extension application and what was really in it were two entirely different things. The reason for this is because, arguably, he was placed in that position by Trump. Therefore, as Trump (through Page) was under investigation by the DOJ, so too would Rosenstein. Therefore, when the counterintel attorneys from the DOJ came to him and requested his signature, they most certainly would have lied about what was in the application extension. They would have been doing so perfectly legally, as lying to the subject of an investigation is acceptable in law enforcement. The thing is, Rosenstein most certainly knew they were lying, or he may have even had a more hands on part in the whole matter. It doesn’t matter because you will never prove it. He’s safe on that specific issue even though it smells real bad.

    Brennan was having a cow today after the resignation rumor started floating. He took a chance and pretty much directed Rosenstein not to do it on his twitter…although he did so in a vague manner. If there is a pending sealed indictment on Brennan, he basically did what Mannafort was thrown into solitary confinement for. Tried to influence a witness, and he knows it or he wouldn’t have written his tweet like a generality.
