Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle

It’s called the marketplace…….
Dougie, keep on keeping on. Now stopping the driver’s license increase.
If he wants to really make it possible for more choices at $1 he needs to do something about the taxes. As a shipping supervisor at one of the big brewers in the mid 90’s we were able to sell at a profit at less than $6 /24 to distributors for the US exports. (price prominently displayed on the bills the driver needed at the border). This would still have included an excise tax which was applied to the liquid, but none of the sales taxes. The same beer was selling in Ontario for about $20 / 24 at the time.
Stupid Media Party blows bubbles using “suds.”
…-
“as part of Premier Doug Ford’s push for cheaper suds.”
https://www.thestar.com/news/queenspark/2018/08/21/presidents-choice-joins-premier-doug-fords-buck-a-beer-movement.html
But on the other hand…….
Same old $lop – just different liars and different troughs
“Instead of picking winners and losers we’re going to lower business taxes for
everyone” – Doug Ford, May 14, 2018 https://www.ontariopc.ca/doug_ford_will_bring_jobs_back_to_ontario
Greg Rickford, Kenora-Rainy River MPP. Minister of Energy,
Northern Development and Mines, and Minister of Indigenous Affairs:

I noticed during the Ontario election that the PC party is still infested with red swamp creatures. Ford is the only person I like in the party.
I met my PC candidate at a “meet and greet”. He spoke for about 15 mins. He’s a CINO – a new candidate that is eager to get on the gravy train. He wants to “serve the people” BUT he never said what he wanted to serve them! I kinda know he wants to show his a$$ up position at the trough.
I guess it beats working for a living. As for me – I voted Libertarian.
PS. Do something about that stupid Captcha. If it asks for identification, I sign off and forget about commenting.
Interesting blowback from The Usual Suspects.
So in regards to beer, Premier Ford has misplaced priorities, is just trying to score political points with a certain demograph, and is showing a lack of concern that easy availability may cause some to imbibe more.
But when Shiny Pony legalized pot, all is well with those same news outlets, and those blowback points no longer exist.
Who would you rather have trying to solve any given problem or issue… Doug Ford, who is showing the obvious and stereotypical effects of beer (check the waistline out), or Shiny Pony, who exhibits the obvious and stereotypical effects of long term pot usage (pretty much every time he opens his mouth).
Canadians care about cheap beer more than they do their leadership.
If the latter was true, Justin would be on the supply list right now.
Ford is assuring his re-election.
The contrast between “Oh dear! Cheap beer! People will be getting drunk in public!” and “Oh boy! Legal pot! People will be getting high in public!” is hilarious and redolent of the internal contradictions of self-regarding Canadian notions.
Another favourite of mine is: “No way we’ll visit the US while that dictator Trump is in charge! We’ll go to Cuba instead!”
Meanwhile, CNN delivers.
Paul Manafort has been found guilty on eight counts, mistrial declared on other ten.
Yeah, well… Loblaws. Sure, they’ll give us beer for a buck. But they’ll still price fix on bread, the bastards.
this cr@p about price fixing on bread is just that, cr@p. while all the so called price fixing was on every supermarket in the country had a sale on bread every freaking week and bread is still the same price as it was before the “shocking” expose.
I hang around mostly beer drinkers.
I knew the buck-a-beer was gonna take hold *somewhere* in the land of the McKenzie brothers:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_and_Doug_McKenzie
from the link:
“created originally as filler to both satisfy and mock network Canadian content demands”
Im pissed that the Beer Store no longer stocks Formosa.
can SUMMBUDDY tell captcha to hang on to my name info?
Buck a Beer will Make Ontario Great Again.
I would have supported Ford more on this one if he had said something to the effect that “minimum price laws are stupid and you can sell your product for whatever you want,” rather than keeping the minimum price law, but at a lower level.
