File multiple, simultaneous, Civil Rights Lawsuits for the Tech companies hiring overwhelmingly … Hindus and Asians. Sue them for violations of H1b Visas. File multiple (what is it) SISSIUS(?) lawsuits for conspiring with foreign governments and corporations exposing proprietary US technology.

      And as I have been lectured (repeatedly) here … “regulation” of these de facto Public Utilities is … UNAmerican … UNconservative. So. We need NEW social media platforms for the 50% of conservative Americans … to CUT the market share in HALF for these leftist corporate bullies

The guy is nothing more than an electronic version of The National Enquirer supermarket paper claiming Hillary had an Aliens love child while Bill was vacationing on the Lolita Express. Meh. InfoWARS? Nah … InfoTAINMENT. Big whoop. So, if all these platforms are disappearing Alex Jones, then how about disappearing The Daily Kos? That site is far more unhinged and is a purveyor of HATE, FAKE, VILE speech. If there’s to be a “HATE PURGE” on these platforms … then FAR MORE leftist sites should be shut down as conservative ones. And don’t get me started on Islam.

  9. I’ve always understood the internet to be a public space, a public square or street, because you cannot determne beforehand via which route your messages will proceed or who will receive it. In other words, you are broadcasting your message, standing in a public space shouting it out.

    In which case, free speech rules apply.

    If this is NOT the case, then the companies and individuals who police the message must accept responsibility for ALL messages passed by their organization. The resources required to do that are enormous and the legal bills will be similar. Check China.

    The only solution is to make quasi-monopolists such as Youtube, Twitter and Facebook, etc. public utilities.

    If this doesn’t happen, then a modern form of mail listserv (remember that?) will develop and put these companies out of business.

    Also, the US Government through DARPA, CIA and NSA, can stop their financing.

    The big social media companies are not “the Internet” any more than Ford and GM are the nation’s highway system. They are not a public utility, or a monopoly. They cannot control or restrict your ability to communicate with other people over the Internet. They can decline to provide you with a free platform and megaphone to disseminate your views, in the same way that Wal-Mart can tell you you can’t preach to their customers on Wal-Mart property.

    I could instantiate a complete Facebook clone in about half an hour, on any of a dozen cloud hosting services, where anyone can discuss whatever they want. I can’t make people use it. Facebook can’t make people use Facebook either.

      The thing about social media is the social part. Creating an app with no users is not an alternative. Certain sectors monopolies or oligarchies naturally form, like phone companies, we can all create technically working alternatives, but without the user base to begin with they are useless and doomed. Facebook did not get to be big by being a political media company, they only turned political after they had secured a monopoly.

      Now as far as declining to provide a free platform and megaphone to disseminate views, well it’s a funny little thing about the Communications Decency Act, once they start declining, they are exercising editorial control and become publishers, and thus incur liability for everything that does get published on their platform, including all of the antifa criminal conspiracy pages they do publish, all of the hate speech they publish, all of the incitement to violence they publish, all of the frauds and scams they publish, pretty much all of the illegal people being assholes they publish. Kinda scary what happens to a company when they decide to go from being a platform for communication and decide to become a publisher.

        Bing. It’s the default search engine on all Windows devices, which makes it the default search engine for 85% of PCs. To use Google you have to consciously choose to switch and take action to do so.

        Social media companies are not at all like the phone companies because the phone companies controlled the medium, not the content. Do you get your Internet service from Google? Facebook? Twitter? No, you don’t.

        And if you’re seriously arguing in favour of the CDA and the government using force to try and repeal Metcalfe’s Law….did this place go Little Green Footballs when I wasn’t looking?
