Investment is attracted to LOW TAX – LOW Regulatory environments. And if and when you provide business with said environment: They invest – They hire workers – They pay Corp. Tax – The workers Pay Income Tax and it’s all round good for the Economy…as said workers will spend more money and again pay taxes on that money spent. Business will buy equipment & supplies and pay tax on all the money spent…& the businesses that supply said Business will hire more workers to keep up to the demand….and so it goes. Capitalism the way it has worked for 150 yrs.
Jesus H. I never took an economics class – but this is simple Freaking LOGIC….no?
    What about THAT don’t you F’n Understand….hmm?
Perhaps however you prefer to see your populace poor, such that when they have no choice but to come begging at your feet…thereby allowing you FULL Control. Using Climate Change as the Hammer.
I think we all know the answer to that. I would see the above gang up against a wall – blindfolded – The Charge..? TREASON (Fighting against the good of your country and good of it’s people).
Am in Wisconsin, 3rd Party Inspector for a Hydro Project. I constantly hear on the Radio, adverts for full time employees in Construction, Fabrication etc…This Country is rocking. The stark difference to home is palatable.
    How fricking sad.

  2. “What’s happening in the U.S.? They’re lowering taxes, they’re building pipelines and they’re starting to export oil,” Conway told The Canadian Press, adding that in Canada, taxes have been raised, pipelines are not getting built, and there isn’t much regulatory certainty.
What’s the commemorative sock pattern for the Land of Stupid?

    That pretty well covers it.

  4. Follow the money.
Canada has a huge potential frac play. I have friends in the industry who tell me the zone in central Alberta is massive.
    Think of the opportunity…..

  5. Just curious … which Tribe owns those rights ? Because … I believe that Tribe will have to “discover the wheel” before they can envision a use for all that oil.

  6. Dear carpetbagging Canadians: Keep your liberal refuse up North. Hardworking drillers willing to help MAGA are more than welcome. Make sure your employer provides health insurance !
I’m seeing “V1 UNSUPPORTED” in reCAPTCHA ? Is this me or the SDA website ?

  7. Money like water moves to the lowest level of resistance.
Something the Leftists in this socialist country do not and will not understand.
Any successes we are now achieving are spin-offs from President Trump’s leadership south of the border. The problem is that those benefits to us will only last until more companies depart to the States and then the troubles will begin.
    Still missing Stephen Harper.

  8. The left are engaged in thinking that future prosperity will magically appear from the new green pixie dust economy or that prosperity is bad and must be extinguished. My NDP MP spammed my snail mail with an announcement that “the NDP is calling on the Liberal government to protect workers pensions and benefits when companies fail”. IOW, we can continue killing jobs with our green theocracy and socialism and as a bonus, those still working or more likely those yet unborn can pay more taxes to continue buying your support at the polls. And what’s worse, the majority of Canadians are OK with that. Thrift and aspiration is being replaced with cradle to grave welfare state dependency and ultimate bankruptcy.

  9. Wait until the Real Estate crash, it’s coming. Cue the bawling & crying & the “bailouts” to HELOC’d mom & dad, who over hocked their own homes (not yet paid off) to “help” their sons & daughters (is that even legal to make that distinction these days?) buy into the biggest Black Swan to ever happen in this country.
The we will truly have “social housing” & you’ll get to have some “syrians” as house pets, too. Sunny Ways.
Rigs are leaving, like they did in 1981 under the NEP. This time they aren’t coming back.

  10. You can’t have all that iron sitting idle, not paying off it’s capital cost. It has to move to where the work is. Crews, too. Paid in USD all round. What’s not to like?

  11. “This time they aren’t coming back.” Of course they will. It took 10-15 years before Alberta recovered last time, it will likely take the same this time. This too shall pass.
They’re not coming back until the rules change back to those that allow return for risk. How far a place needs to fall before it realizes it needs to change its ways astounds me. Inner city Detroit still votes Democrat, they haven’t hit rock bottom yet. Zimbabwe is still drinking the kool-aid. Despite those who want to (and do) bring it all crashing down, there are shining cities on the hills that cast light and show what can be achieved. Those who are willing to climb can make great lives for themselves there.

  12. Care to make a small wager on that?
If they ever do come back, with current issues affecting future prospects in the WCSB & getting worse every day, it won’t be to an Alberta that they were familiar with under a Canadian Confederation. You’re entitled to your own opinion on that.
Current events are soon going to put a big dent in any sort of so called Confederation & not just with Alberta.

  13. Well, being on the side of the Angels isn’t easy. Give him a break. He may call in the army when they turn against Liberals. His Dad waited.

  14. That was an interesting article, good breakdown of the money coming in from each well.
In contrast,I’d like to see the effects of one windmill on the economy.

  15. Exactly.
“The problem is that those benefits to us will only last until more companies depart to the States and then the troubles will begin.” And, at the rate the investment is leaving, wasn’t it around 30 billion plus just in Alberta last year. And, at the rate companies are closing up shop in Ontario in the last half dozen years, there has to be a a slowing down of the economic engine.
You can’t keep an economy going by hiring more bureaucrats.

  16. Well said. The left doesn’t care as long as their agenda of people control is accomplished.

  17. You can’t keep an economy going by hiring more bureaucrats.
Of course you can. Under socialism, the government is the main industry or, more precisely, the ruling party is. One can not only get a job by being a member, certain other advantages and side benefits can result.
The only problem is that people have to eat and need new clothes once in a while. The workers who produce that stuff are unimportant and don’t count and, therefore, aren’t considered part of the economy.
    And, yes, I’m being sarcastic.
