Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

A conservative “white trash” employee would most likely have been fired for this.
She should be forced to change her first name to “Ha”.
Oh, oh. Sassy sour China Girl. Me like you. Hubba, hubba.
Move to NYU or Columbia, princess, “you will make it after all”.
Tolerant preaching Zipperhead.
Well, she’s a gook so she can’t be raciss.
She’s just your run of the mill progressive snob. Nothing special. Not a surprising attitude. While I don’t think she should lose her job for being an asshole, the double standard is striking.
To clarify, these people are snobs not elitists. The term elitist makes the assumption that they’re actually elite. They’re not. From what I understand about the tenure track is that you mainly have to be an expert at kissing ass and not deviate from status quo thought (or be born into the right family). I’m sure there are exceptions and a few truly remarkable academic thinkers but they are few and far between. University faculties function more like a blue-blood members only country club for progressives than an open, merit based organization.
There certainly are elite people – surgeons, athletes, scientists – but the vast majority of people who believe they are elite are merely wannabes and wannabes are always the worst sort of people. If you have to keep telling everyone how elite you are and treat others badly to try and prove it — you’re probably not elite.
Send your kids to trade school. Better value for your money.
It’s hilarious watching the “Culturally Enriched” leftists bow to the staff in ANY Asian restaurant. Smiling like weirdo’s with palms together in temple prayer, having no f*cking clue as to the religious or cultural values of the little Asian in front of them. i.e. they could be Christian, or NOT Buddhist, bowing and hand gesturing varies in meaning and traditions across Asian cultures.
I find it hilarious looking at the faces of the Asian staff drop right after the overblown goodbye’s and ridiculous thank-you’s “for basic restaurant service” from the Progressive sicko’s as they finally leave.
Would these RACISTS put on the same exaggerated show in a western restaurant with Caucasian staff? Never.
I find it a little alarming that we have reached a point, where our so-called elites are not afraid to label working-class americans as being beneath their contempt, and worthy only of being ruled and punished. They believe it is safe for them to remove the masks they’ve worn for all these years.
I grew up a working class kid, so I guess, in her eyes, I’m white trash. Since she used that term in her review, should I sue her for cultural appropriation?
I’m not all that surprised, though, at her attitude. When I began my university studies more than 40 years ago, I thought that education made people equal and that one could advance through the system by virtue of one’s academic ability alone.
Often, though, there were times that I felt that there were some who thought I didn’t belong there because my parents were journeymen in their respective trades and, therefore, didn’t have the “right” connections. Even after I finished my doctorate and applied for faculty positions, I had the sense that my working-class upbringing was considered to be a liability.
There’s a South Park episode in there somewhere…
Being white trash myself, I think maybe June should do some research on what white trash actually like. Y’know, actually talk to somebody outside her bubble.
Anytime I hear a progressive use the term white trash I amuse myself by blowing up and demanding to know why they are so racist. Why use the qualifier “white”? Don’t answer, it because everybody knows what colour trash normally is you ignorant racist bastard…. (and so on)
What did Yale expect when they hired a militant Asian racist ? Forget the white trash comment … she goes after the “wrong” Asian denomination … perfect. Remember it is never about “equality”. It is always about “getting even”.
The bitch was probably just pissed that they didn’t have chicken fried cat or sweet and sour sauteed dog on the menu as per HER superior asiatic culture
I disagree, she should be fired and it should be on her record. What is really pathetic is that most if not all of the university administrations have moved far enough to the left to hire scum like her.
Mr. G actually has an appropriate name for her, although I apologize to the collie we had.
I personally dislike that type of name calling. To me it makes the person saying them look weak and emotional. As I tell my squabbling kids, your brother or sister wins when they make you mad by pushing your buttons. Not saying you shouldn’t do it if it makes you feel better.
I also am not a supporter of firing people because they say or do things I disagree with. Blindly following the baying mobs of “off with her head” based on media reports? Not really my thing either. The entire story and other factors are not revealed. Besides, like I said, being an asshole shouldn’t be a firing offense. Within certain bounds anyway. Maybe she’s good at her job but a jerk on her own time.

There should be public consequences for her very public indiscretion. By openly broadcasting her comments, she brought her employer into disrepute, even though it was after hours. Conduct like that is rarely acceptable in industry nor should it be in the public sector.

Maybe she was hired as the result of a political mandate. (“xxxx% of our staff must be members of the yyyy group.”) That she happened to espouse the now ubiquitous leftist drivel was, perhaps, a bonus.
That’s a disturbingly authoritarian world you’re advocating for, especially in this perpetually offended, thin-skinned era.

In the real world (i. e., the private sector), anything which sullies the reputation of one’s employer would, and usually is, considered to be just cause for dismissal. It has nothing to do with authoritarianism–it’s how things are actually done.
Comment @ 11:14, exactly. I had to live within those parameters in the private and public service spheres for over forty years. Well, except for one time when I got angry at a very selfish person that thought many times that he had special priority over 1200 fellow citizens. He thought that one time too many.
Yes, calling her name in a derogatory way is not nice at all, but if we were nice to her as conservatives have been until recently, we would still be white trash to her progressive self. Frankly, I am tired of taking it on the chin.
No, it really wasnt except in extreme cases like criminal activity. It’s social media and SJW that changed that and not in a good way. Don’t normalize it. You’re not owned by your employer 24/7. If so, you’re being treated like a serf. Find a new employer.

I’ve known people who were sacked for something they did after hours and their employers found out. They quietly disappeared from the scene, but lots of people figured out why.
One was always expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner, even in one’s private life. If an employee did something that was improper, it could be bad for business. Would you want to deal with a company who had, say, an accountant who was found guilty of shoplifting? Would you be willing to trust that firm with your money?
You’re not owned by your employer 24/7.
Yes you are. It’s always been like that, even when I was a young kid with a brand new B. Sc. 40 years ago. It’s worse now thanks to smartphones and the Internet.
Deans hold prominent academic positions. They are often the face, the image of their institution and their conduct should be beyond reproach. In making those remarks in a public forum, she conveyed the image that her university thought likewise. That could affect enrollments and, even more important, external funding.
There need to be consequences for what she did. I suspect that she will quietly “resign to pursue other interests”, which is a euphemism for being given the boot. It will be done in that manner so that the university saves face.
