    Indeed, Clinton’s “ninety percent” claim is false according to her troubled charity’s own tax filings.
    Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute, Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large, and author of Clinton Cash said the Clinton Foundation has spent as little as six percent of its total income on actual charitable endeavors.

    An engine burn to re-shape Juno’s orbit was cancelled due to problems with a pair of fuel system valves. This safe mode may indicate that there’s a more serious problem.

  5. You get in trouble with booze. Perhaps the Mountie pulled you over, and you were over .08. Or you got in a bar fight, threw a glass at the mirror, the cops arrived, you were charged. In court the judge says, ”You will attend regular weekly meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous.” That happes all the time.
    Alcoholics anonymous is based on a 12 step program where the alcoholic eventually develops a belief in a Higher Power. Step 2 says: ”Came to believe that a Higher power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.”
    I’ve been In AA 32 years, and I’m 32 years sober. Never once was I ever forced to believe in anything I didn’t want to believe. For myself, a Higher Power is God, as it is for those who chose to believe that.
    God can also mean ”G.O.D.” or Good Orderly Direction, Group of Drunks, or whatever. Some alcoholics simply use the power of the group.
    Now AA, a privately funded group that is under no government legislation and where members can come and go as they please, is facing court challenges where members who were court ordered to attend AA are claiming to have been forced into a belief that they don’t want. And like hello people, I don’t believe in Liberals or income tax, but under the government of Jean Chretien, I was ordered to pay $9200 of federal taxes ”or else.” And do read this with caution as it comes from the mainstream media.

  8. The job cuts aren’t entirely surprising, given how lousy the market was even before Red Rachel and the Potato were elected.
    Although the article states that they have nothing to do with the recent acquisition of Spectra Energy, it’s likely that certain positions might be redundant with the new staff coming in. Due to overlap or duplication, some of them would be too costly to maintain.
    It could also be that many of those positions could be for people either retiring or about to. Once they leave, those jobs would be abolished. As well, those cuts would be one way of dealing with the (needless) carbon taxes.

  9. But it’s true. They – the Clintons and others at the Clinton Foundation – spend 90% of the money donated. And they spend it “on behalf of” the programs of people. Whether that means the people who donated the money or the people it was supposedly intended to benefit, the Clintons and others at the foundation spend 90% of that money on behalf of those people, i.e. they don’t leave it to those people to spend the money. Note that she didn’t say what they spend it on. She didn’t say they spend it on food to feed any of those people who many be hungry. She didn’t say they spend it on medical care for sick people. Or homes for homeless people, or education or training to help those people find gainful employment. If you look into the accounts you see they spend it on travel. And salaries and benefits for Foundation employees and directors. And they spend it “around the world and in their own country.”
    She did’t say something that is untrue. She just said things in a way that is likely to be misconstrued.

  15. Agreed. Amalgamations do bring a realignment of staffing. This happened in my early working years and I survived the cuts. My brother-in-law did not in the steel industry in Hamilton and was, along with hundreds of other mid level management staff, taken to a room, given their notices along with packages containing their personal desk effects and not allowed to go back to their desk. He was in his mid fifties.

    Traffic cameras, phone cameras, business and private home security cameras, police body cameras….. have I missed any. Oh yes, those cameras on drones and helicopters. And those amazing cameras on satellites too. It is increasingly a goldfish bowel world. There is both good and bad in this. What right to privacy does one have in the world of today and tomorrow?
    Cameras (and social media too) certainly helped the police in Charlotte arrest at least some of the looters.

    Still no word on the lander, according to my news sources. Apparently, contact was lost shortly before touchdown, but no one knows whether it’s intact or went ker-splat onto the surface. I’m sure a lot of people are thinking about what happened to Beagle 2 right now.

  25. Since the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has photographed both the Mars Science Lab and Beagle 2, it could probably help locate Schiaparelli.
    Landing something on Mars is hard and, yet, there are people who want to go there now…..

    The video shows men with Big Hammers. No rationale – war axes were common enough, as with Skarp-Heðinn in Njáls saga – Skarp-Heðinn is skilled and effective with his axe – battle-ogre I believe he called it. Why would anyone wield a heavy blunt instrument when they could use a heavy sharp instrument?
