I’m old enough to remember when the American left (and Jay has admitted that’s his political worldview) at least pretended to frown upon bullying and eliminationist rhetoric. But then, we live in an era when someone who attempted to assassinate a Republican presidential candidate is let off with two years and deportation. As Glenn wrote earlier this week of Trump’s would-be assassin, it’s “hard to imagine someone who went after Obama or Hillary getting this kind of treatment.” Similarly, it’s impossible to imagine Leno saying that smug leftists such as Obama or Hillary should have the crap beaten out of them. And it’s a particularly fascinating admission given that Leno had Trump on as a guest of the Tonight Show at least ten times without coming to blows.

It’s easy to demonize a group of people (in this case, Trump supporters and true conservatives) when you don’t know any, and are not friends with any. This type of broad brush stroke is not new; read some of the anti-Semetic cartoons and editorials from the 1920’s and 1930’s in Europe (not just Germany). Dehumanizing and entire group always starts with humour, snide remarks, and speaking of them as a disease that needs to be expunged, first from the dialogue, then from society as a whole (Warsaw ghetto) and finally from the country. This thought does not always reach the outcome that it did in Germany. But this thought is the first stage.
An egomaniac multi millionaire well marinated within the progressive cocoon thinks an egomaniac multi billionaire loose cannon populist has no empathy. No state should be swollen to the level where either of their persona should affect the lives of its citizens to the degree that they do. Only an ovine nation would allow them to do so.
They would do well to remember that it was them who named named us the enemy. We did not do that. They did. When their President, in his inaugural speech, he told the world that they would punish their enemies, everyone knew he meant republicans and conservatives. Everyone knew he meant all those fellow Americans who did not vote for him. And that is what they have done in the last 8 years. Turning the institutions of sate against its own citizens. Weaponizing the departments of government against conservatives. And the media has cheered, promoted and supported this pogrom. And now they act surprised and hurt that we are happy to act like their enemy. Poor muffins. They are so ill prepared for what will come next.
I am an old guy 67, about the same as Trump.
I hope to live long enough to hear people like Leno described as “far left”.
His utter disbelief that someone does not agree with all he and the rest of the self acclaiming “elite” take as gospel.

Fact of the matter is the vast majority of ordinary folks in the USA and Canada agree with all of the above on the immigration issues.

She’s like Trudeau, never having to actually earn it, sitting behind a propaganda machine, a puppet on a string, with a free ride from the likes of Peter Mansbridge here and Cosmo there. But now the public distrusts them all, so Trump has emerged to sweep them all out in the year of the insurgency.
They won it for Trudeau despite circling the drain, the stealth elite pretending to be populist, taken off the public radar and directed elsewhere.
The one-thirders obviously think they can pull it off in the US, so look for doubling down on negativity, with the violent do-gooders re-emerging.

If you’re a progressive so comfortable in the self-assuredness anyone not holding your wise egalitarian views is intellectually inferior – sickening.
yes John, they should elect a stalwart like Hillary, who step down after a few months, letting Kaine, a latten communists take over, and maybe choose obungles as his VEEP, got cha. A blow hard like Trump is exactly what is needed!

I’ve got news for Jay Leno … when the left weaponizes “kindness” with a soft voice, and an NPR radio cadence, as they chastise conservatives for being “mean” to the “disenfranchised” … it ceases to be anything NEAR kindness. It is nothing more than bullying through a false narrative.
The left pretends “kindness” to the Urban poor … yet have done NOTHING to ease the violence, death, and dysfunctional lifestyles that are wreaking damage. It isn’t a kindness at all, but a horrifying cynicism when the left defends the destruction of the family, the loss of jobs, the abandonment of education, utter dependency on government handouts, and the loss of pride. All the soft-spoken words of “kindness” in the universe cannot undo the horrors perpetrated by liberalism. So go ahead Leno … speak softly … and portray kindness … a kindness that KILLS. IDIOTS.
