  1. Speaking of Southeast Asia – Yorkton Native John Ridsdel executed by Islamists in Philippines. Possibly beheaded.

“The Prime Minister has also reportedly been in contact with Ridsdel’s next-of-kin, who are gathered four hours away in Edmonton.” No word yet whether he had a chance to visit a local mosque first to express support and empathy.

  2. Chinese activities in the South China Sea are frequently discussed on John Batchelor’s show.

  3. All the more reason to get the pipelines to the coast so that China can be assured of a secure source of oil and Canada can exert a restraining influence on ambitions in the South China Sea. Though I don’t think it at all likely, I would still prefer an oil spill on the west coast to a war in the South China Sea.
