I remember the day after Fields accused Lewandowski of grabbing her arm the refrain from Trump fans on Twitter was “Prove it! File a police report or you’re lying.” So she filed a police report. Then the refrain was “It was the other guy standing behind Trump, not Lewandowski!” Then new video came out showing, no, it was Lewandowski. Then the refrain was “He barely touched her. No one could seriously believe this is battery.” So now he’s been charged with battery.
That whole “Never Apologize” thing went stupid, real fast. A quick five minute statement by Lewandowski apologizing and explaining that he was just trying to keep up with Trump would have made the whole thing go away.
Going stupid fast seems to be in the air this season.
No does not work like that, if Lewandowski did not initially lie, if he simply explained that he acted in best faith and meant no offense, if Trump did not decide to jump in to defend him, if Trump and all his supporters including those on this blog did not go full retard explaining how it is ok to push women around who cut in front of them in grocery store, how it is ok to sucker punch protesters who are being escorted out by security then we could all laugh at the ridiculous Michele Fields and her grotesque exaggerations of the whole event.
But no, the Trumpessiah is beyond reproach and anyone pointing out the absurdity of his behavior and that of his supporters is clearly an elitist cuckservative who supports Bernie and Fields. I’d happily give him the benefit of the doubt that he did not even clearly recall the moment, or the action, some _body_ was in the way – and WAAY too close for someone under SS protection – and he moved in and cut in and redirected her, he and the SS probably do that maneuver every day, and it all blends together. Seriously, when the police contacted him, he probably went “who? when? WTF? I have not any idea what these people are talking about.”
EVEN IF something DID happen, she has wildly exaggerated, and it is pretty clear that whatever happened, a minor grab at most to get her out of the way, is par for the course in these scrums and doesn’t rise to criminal charges by anyone sane, or fair.
