Reading about the cat lady, I had what passes for me as an insight. She claims to have enhanced hearing and eyesight, a desire to hunt mice and a fear of water. Therefore, she’s actually a cat. An obvious response would be to point out to her all the other physical characteristics she shared not with felines, but with humans. Maybe she is a human with a few traits that are typically possessed by cats? And after all, what exactly is it that one means when one speaks of humans (or cats)? But the water’s getting a little murky, perhaps; this is what led me to my pondering.
I got to thinking about the general attractions of an identity group outlook on the world. One obvious positive is that it tends to relieve one of the necessity for any “heavy” thinking. People (and cats) fit neatly into little boxes with no overlap or grey areas (though progressives reserve the right to move items from box to box, as it pleases them). Therefore, once the categories are memorized (and, in the case of gender identity at least, this might be a daunting task) one is done. Anyway, if nothing else, basing one’s worldview on identity groups is a rather lazy way to interpret reality, but it does absolve one of the tedious task of critical thinking.
Alas for the identarians!

So,if the cat lady lived in an area that requires cats to be licenced,would she be required to purchase an annual licence, and would she have to wear it on a collar around her neck?
And IF she ventured out one day without her licence, where would she be incarcerated, the local jail,or SPCA, until her ,um…., owner I guess, came to pick her up?
And IF she committed a crime, say………cat burglary, would she as a cat,be entitled to a lawyer, presumption of innocence, bail,etc., etc., iow all the trappings of the Human justice system?
A thought that just occurred; while in incarceration awaiting trial, what would she be fed, human or cat food,and would her beverage be served in a saucer or cup?
Allah almighty this woman/cat has made life difficult for those of us who are social justice philosophers/warriors!
And one last point, after a date with the cat woman, and after plying her with catnip, would one have the difficulty of having to mount her on a fence or would the bedroom still be acceptable?
It may take up my entire day considering all the ramifications of this case.
Ask yourself; which side of the political aisle uses the “Thought Police” to Force compliance with THEIR beliefs ? Having grown-up in the 60’s-70’s … I am thoroughly amazed that the very people who cheered Mario Savio on the steps of Sproul Hall … now do everything possible to undo everything he stood for. So it appears as though the entire Free-Speech movement born during the Summer of LOVE … has degenerated into a Thought Police Force that bashes the skulls of every divergent speaker with billyclubs of politically-correct compliance. The Left has become the very Blue Meanies that they once mocked.
