But that was Carter, and he was a Democrat. He clearly did it for altruistic reasons. But Trump? That guy’s running for Republicans, he’s a crazy racist!
Reading the timeline attached to that brought back some memories. And, still, Obama effectively just gave them nuclear weapons. Even Jimmie Carter wasn’t that subversive.

One could go further back in history to see that it was Democrat Presidents (Woodrow Wilson, the one they now try to disown as racist) and FDR (the one who took until Pearl Harbor to get into WW II) who also engaged in internments, immigration bars, poll taxes and deportations.
That’s not to say they were right. Just that the Democrats and other leftists/progressives should think twice and talk once.
I’m watching this debate about Trump’s comments with some interest. I don’t get how keeping non citizens of any kind for any reason would violate the constitution but has everyone forgot this one?
