Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

A hero about whom not is sung enough.
Thank you Canada for helping our countrymen. Selfless deed by a great man.
Thanks for sticking your neck out, Mr. Taylor.
He and his wife Pat were real heroes. Too bad John and Zena Sheardown who sheltered American personnel at the start, didn’t get as much credit.
Trudeau pere also almost gave the secret away by badgering the Clark government about not doing enough, even after he was told in confidence of the situation.
I remember that
Don’t trust a Trudeau ever
Osumashi, exactly. Ken Taylor was a real Canadian hero.
May his name be added to the honour roll of Canadians, defendeders of Western Civilization against jihad of (in this case the the Islamic Republic of Iran) the (Iranian) Caliphate.
36 years later, the 3rd Jihad menace continues unabated.
He was rather quiet about it, as well.
Smart, brave and missed.
I disagree. The op was CIA run not Canadian. Taylor parlayed it into becoming the toast of the town in nyc with the CIA only too happy to let it cover their role.
Taylor wasn’t humble and really wasn’t that heroic.
Yes he has passed. He wasn’t evil. But we should be clear about what really happened.
If he was in the vicinity he had more nerves than most.CIA or no.
Yes, we should be. But don’t assume you know the truth either…
Honor virtutis preamium.
If the Iranians had known the Canadians were hiding Americans is there any doubt that the mob would have stormed the Canadian embassy too ? Taylor and his staff were risking their lives by helping the Americans.
That’s true.
What is not true is the storyline the vast majority of Canadians understand to be the truth. And Taylor made zero attempt to correct that throughout the rest of his life.
The man is and always was a hero to me and the military types I hang out with. He stood up and did what he could for his fellow men. We are very short handed of that type. Condolences to his family and friends.
And why are you over concerned about it? Want to make sure you inform the readers on SDA, the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Why? Most of us lived through it and you’re only repeating what was known years ago by any Canadian who was interested in the subject.
They put their lives in danger for our friends, end of.
And they underplayed it while they were living in about the same way that you’re overplaying it at his death.
Take a pill and have a nap.
“The man is and always was a hero to me and the military types I hang out with.”
Yup. another solid DFAIT guy was the late Glyn Berry. He “walked the talk” in Afghanistan and was killed by a car bomb there in 2006.
He took a huge risk….world needs more people like him.
