Sniveling little liberal panies WAAH,WAHH,WAAH
Very good and insiteful.
“Sniveling little liberal panies…)
Right you are. But they are outclassed in the sissy department by the pussies who cave to their shrieking.
OK, but his remedy seems to belie his diagnosis. If they’re mental, surely slapping ain’t the remedy?
Remember to wield this recently fashioned razor: Never attribute to culture what is better explained by psychosis, but do not rule out culture.
One of the most important functions of a good culture is to discourage, even coerce, its members from being themselves, from self-indulgence, especially of their vices and their own private psychoses. It performs this essential civilizing task with tools that include conventions, expectations, mores, religion and laws. Remove those constraints, and bedlam ensues. We’re living now in bedlam. It will get worse. Why? Because our culture has forgotten—Can we learn anything from our history?—that one of its most important jobs is to control its citizens, for their own individual good as well as for the good of the culture. But worse than a poor memory and stupidity, our own culture has taken the suicidal turn of placing at its center, as cultural bedrock, the principle that each of us arrives on the scene perfectly equipped to be a purely self-created masterpiece, where all “masterpieces” are equal. We are, it says, perfectly autonomous, self-creating person-artists, who may, if we so choose, create ourselves anew each morning. And in these respects, we are all perfectly equal. Just to hedge its bets, it insists that there is noting outside the individual—no culture, no politics, no world, nature or biology; no metaphysics at all—that can constrain our autonomy. Pure subjectivism. Pure psychologism. We’ve adopted a philosophy of pure self-indulgence. It’s therefore guaranteed to catch on, and catch on it has. It has a name: “postmodernism”. It’s being fed to your children from every direction.
What are the effects of granting unfettered license to creatures who, contrary to the pomo dogma, come equipped with all manner of virtues and vices? We are, by different measures, stupid, greedy, short-sighted, dishonest, cowardly, venal …. The effects of giving to such creatures full license of self-expression run from the merely tiresome—some think every ugly thought that runs through their addled alleged minds is worth uttering—to the pathological: trans-ablism, trans-sexualism, trans-speciesism are the pathologies de jour. It will get worse.
The culture, in declaring no role for objectivity, has unhinged itself. It’s a psychotic culture. It promotes personal psychoses. The sane among us cannot live in such a culture. The hot-house loonies however flourish there. If that weren’t already clear to us, the culture’s own inhabitants are busy excommunicating us. They tell us there is no room for us in any of their institutions—not the schools, not politics, not even in language. “Shut up!”, they explain.
We’re staring at a very bleak future: there’s the world and those of us who live in; and there’s a psychotic, suicidal culture, with its own increasingly psychotic inhabitants. (I don’t mean to suggest that the loonies live, literally, in some other world. They do not. They live in the only world that exists. This one.) They have the power to force us to pay their way. How do we unhinge ourselves from this death spiral?
The black family survived centuries of slavery and generations of Jim Crow, but it has disintegrated in the wake of the liberals’ expansion of the welfare state.
Thomas Sowell
nick, well put. You are correct, there used to be forces that helped subvert the “stupid impulses”, they controlled us to extent, mostly for the good, and this is what liberals and libertarians don’t understand. I’m as anti socialist as you can get, but I also understand to have a reasonable society you will have some socialism embedded in it. No man is an island unto himself!!!!
Well said Nick, and you end with a question the answer to which we would like. I suspect that a society that has degenerated to the point we have will have to go through a fire.
Gavin McInnes has a great quote from Amier Carmel, that being, “The destruction of the family,” he opines, “is the single most destructive force in the past 40 years.”
McInnes talks about Che Guevera. Given half a chance there will be Che copycats here.
