Beautiful.
Wow, Americans are sooo ignorant of this beautiful country of ours.

It would be embarrassing if not so funny.
Well Canadian Observer name the states of Mexico.

Re: Name the states of Mexico?
Mostly poor and corrupt!
Some years ago, a grad student friend of mine from Norway and I did a spoof of Rick Mercer’s Talking to Americans entitled Talking to Canadians in which we made fun of people on the street for not knowing obscure facts about Norway. When we showed the finished video to people on campus, the universal response was “What’s the point, that’s not even funny.”
Exactly.
Found on a Hot Air thread within the last 24. Sorry it’s not attributed Properly.
Start with a cage containing five monkeys. Inside the cage, hang a banana on a string and place a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the other monkeys with cold water. After a while, another monkey makes an attempt with the same result – all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon, when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.
Now, put away the cold water. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his surprise and horror, all of the other monkeys attack him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted.
Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm! Likewise, replace a third original monkey with a new one, then a fourth, then the fifth.
Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked. Most of the monkeys that are beating him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs or why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.
After replacing all the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs to try for the banana.
Why not?
Because as far as they know that’s the way it’s always been done around here.
I wouldn’t have known the answer to the “Stratford” question, either. Some obscure burg in Ontario, apparently.
But I know where the Stratford Hotel used to be in Vancouver, which I expect most easterners would not. So there’s that.
We have to look harder. There must be another planet out there where normal people can get away from these zaggin’s.

Heartbreaking ? You don’t even know the half of it unless you had a school lunch before Obama was elected.

I would respect the First Lady’s lunch program more had she forced its implementation at her daughters’ school. “What you do not live, you have no right to require.”

How come the Senate has become such a focus since the Conservatives were elected? Did PM Harper cause the whole thing by doing what he is required to do to fill vacancies, appointing Senators as per our system?
Do people really think the PM has any control over how the Senate runs it’s affairs?
Has this got something to do do with the fact this is an election year and the media and the elected Opposition need something to drum on? Does anyone really believe this stuff never happened in the history of the Senate?
People need to be reminded Harper wants to reform the Senate starting with the provinces electing their choices and the PM would appoint those choices. He got no co-operation on that front.
UNELECTED judges sitting in the Supreme Court and UNELECTED senators tinkering with legislation passed in the elected House adds up to a weaker democracy.
It’s a pattern in New Brunswick; thou shalt not have better.
“The Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation is in talks with provincial officials hoping to reverse Health Minister Victor Boudreau’s decision to block the purchase of $900,000 worth of medical equipment.
The foundation said in a news release on Thursday that Boudreau “directed the Horizon Health board of directors not to accept the offer of funding from the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.””

Three years ago the “Tories” did the same thing; a public backlash eventually reversed the decision.

In addition Liz, lets not forget that one of the first pieces of legislation PM Harper passed was the Accountability Act which exposed these abuses. I would also like to see the list of Senators who have taken early retirement since the Duffy story broke and their party affiliation.

I no longer have the link, but this is just like the New York Times having articles about the homeless. The study showed that within a month of a Republican being elected articles began appearing about the plight of the homeless and the problem being magically solved within a month of a Democrat being elected. It may have been a FoxNews segment that had this study.
The draft analysis by the Environmental Protection Agency, released Thursday after three years of study, looked at possible ways fracking could contaminate drinking water, from spills of fracking fluids to wastewater disposal.
“We conclude there are above and below ground mechanisms by which hydraulic fracturing activities have the potential to impact drinking water resources,” the EPA said in the report. But, “we did not find evidence that these mechanisms have led to widespread, systemic impacts on drinking water resources.”

I’m no advocate for animal cruelty, but 9 months in jail for killing a rabbit?

Daniel Kennedy dangled the bunny by its ears from his 10th-floor balcony for a few seconds before he let go as an eight-year-old girl watched in horror.
[The Judge] all but said she would be sending him to jail despite the defence’s request for a house arrest sentence.

The big pile-on against the Harper Conservatives began with the dawn of 2015, election year. The media consortium will be digging up bones going back to Sir John A in their effort to get rid of that pesky Stephen Harper.
We will also be hearing a lot from the Ontario Liberals under Madam Wynne to add to confusion about what’s federal and what’s provincial responsibility…believe it or not, there are many who have no clue on this one, they still get to vote. The Feds will be blamed for everything from health care to education messes when these are managed and funded through provincial budgets. Ontario get’s it’s fair share and more since the Liberals put it in have-not status.
It’s not about competence,if it were there would be little to complain about. Sure some bad choices have been made, some people have let the leader down but that happens in any government.
It’s going to be fun to see how the NDP “benefits” from this scandal:
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/why-the-ndp-benefits-most-from-embarrassing-senate-expenses/article24818851/
http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadian-politics/tom-mulcair-grilled-at-house-of-commons-committee-over-satellite-ndp-offices
Given their current scandal and obstinacy at being forced to return ill gotten taxpayer dollars, this will not be a problem for Harper including the overhyped and underperforming Duffy affair. But they will try and Harper will throw it back in both party’s faces, rejigging again and again to security and the economy.
And yes the media’s all in bias is becoming all too obvious as the CBC, G&M, Torstar and other “journalists,” whose career paths crossed the CBC/Grit meridian, try to get their man elected, though they’re unsure whom that actually will be. They’re going at it full tilt, canting wildly between Grit and Dipper, so will likely be an exhausted & disillusioned mess by Labour Day, as an unimpressed and disengaged voter continues firing up the BBQ.
Then the voter will awaken from their summer slumber, yawn, and vote for Harper, for whom they don’t share the visceral hatred of the deranged temper tantrum basement suite set. Harper is far from finished with his platform with lots of electoral ammunition left, keeping his powder dry for now.
The only thing I can come up with, is, one must really, really like the CBC, to think that RM is the least bit, resemblance, of humourous.
That or one has to be gay as well, if you know what I mean.
