“Organic” Is The Latin Word For “There’s One Born Every Minute”

WaPo;

The photographs of the 14 operations, according to the watchdog group that had them taken, is evidence that these large farms were not really “organic.” Under USDA rules, organic farms must allow animals to engage in their natural behavior and have free access to the outdoors. Cows, goats and sheep are supposed to be able to get to pastures for grazing.
While the investigations will not go on, the photography presented by the group belied the picturesque images of red barns and green fields that organic brands often present to consumers. The photographs show industrial-scaled operations, a distinct contrast to advertising. The farms – five dairies and nine chicken operations – supply well-known store brands such as Walmart, Target and Costco, according to the group.

  1. Mostly “organic” is a fraud perpetrated on the gullible. Why even my good business man brother-in-law told us with a wink that he markets organic grapes through his packing shed to the wholesalers and then to the retailers. He said this is what the public wants and he does not mind the extra markup.

  2. The nazis were big time organic food enthusists and the nzis were Liberals all th way

  3. You’d buy organic foods as Walmart and Costco? Really? Who’s the fool here? These big box retailers are the prime outlets of the processed food industry – go to a farmer’s market and buy local produce from independent small producers and for get the labelling

  4. Yeah….. Who’s the fool here?
Howcum the farmer is at the farmers market every day…..who is doin’ the farmin’?
Simple….he buys his produce wholesale from a distributor same as the stores.

  5. Farmer’s market has strawberries in December.
    ‘Nuff said.
You want farm produce, you go to the farm. Otherwise it came from California or Mexico.
I just go to the store. Because I’m lazy, mostly. But also because the stuff at the store is inspected and regulated out the wazoo. Stuff at the end of Farmer John’s driveway? Not so much.
And by the way, Farmer John ain’t who he used to be. Farmers screwing around with little fruit stands at the end of the driveway are not doing well. They are crappy farmers. If the guys around here are any indication, its the wife selling stuff in the driveway for beer money because Farmer John is drinking up the welfare check at the local watering hole.
    You don’t want them strawberries.
You want proper strawberries around here, you go to http://www.peartstrawberryfarm.com/. They don’t have them in December.

  6. The Opposite of “Organic” is…???
Right…IN-ORGANIC. Steel, concrete, plastic are all things, inorganic..
So first off the use of the word is WRONG.
Period…I rest the rest of my case on another willful SCAM …
