  1. “No linky thingy.”
The linky thingy is the tiny asterisk in the bottom right.
Who needs hard hitting investigative pieces in countries full of LIVs? The networks are just appealing to their masses. Can’t really blame them for offering little intelligence when the IQ on the other end keeps lowering the bar. And I’m not sure there is any network that doesn’t take sides.

  2. The author bemoans the failure of in depth interviews and research into important subjects.
The author then gives us an example of cable news stations picking up the slack on that account by referring to an in depth review on how climate change is affecting our world.
You can’t make this stuff up.

  3. “it should not always be at the expense of the more-in-depth stories or investigations that networks used to” Myers
Within NBC Lisa Myers has always been respected for her honesty & determination. The News mantra depends on breaking news, & the cash register depends on breaking News. It was Myers who broke the story “If you like your Insurance You Can Keep Your Insurance” and it was Brian Williams that refused to run that Story (it was pushed to msnbc)…It takes many talented people, like Myers, to create a News legacy but one person like Brian Williams can destroy both the legacy & the Money stream. The Peacock is dead.
During a tense moment an NBC VP of Human Resources once told me that all talent was a commodity. I told him that an Engineer that I hire will have talent, and the one he hires is a warm body. That might just be true for NBC news.

  4. Right….Right…..and Right again !!! And with the demise of SUN we don’t even have a network that will try to do a follow-up.

  5. “ABC News, for instance, has trended away from serioius news in favor of reports on pop culture, human interest, weather and the like. ”
Ain’t that the truth. CTV Ottawa News is story after story about one-legged prostitutes jumping rope for Heart; local police making inroads by playing basketball with youffs; and dopey teens leaving flowers, notes and teddy bears at some street-side shrine. It’s enough to gag a maggot.
So, for the last few years I just turn on the TV at 6:25 – just in time for the weather.

  6. Just cancelled the cable and upgraded my internet modem instead, after the Sun News Network debacle with the CRTC.
After a while you say, who needs to pay for a stream of propaganda?

  8. As long as it positively irritates you; not likely…
Seriously, what should one expect from NME (Enemy) 666? 🙂

  9. Bah! Even the good guys are bad. “I think the primary mission of journalism is to hold the powerful accountable” is an extreme distortion of journalistic propriety. The primary mission of journalism is to TELL THE TRUTH, ALL OF THE TRUTH.
