  1. Wait a minute, did that volcano violate international emissions standards? Clearly Mother Nature is anti-environment.
Sadly, there is no punishment I could suggest that wouldn’t sound like a double entendre. I really did try – strip mining, drilling, fracking. Honestly, English. You have failed me.

  2. I will give up my 100 Watt (A Watt is a unit of power North of
    60) Incandescent light bulb when they pry it from my cold-dead hand!
“If you build it, they will come.” By “It,” I mean power plants.
And by “They,” I mean high paying industrial jobs.
I once spent more than $200.00 on a Lincoln 18v cordless grease
gun on Amazon. It was made in CHINA!
Feeling a little bit better about this purchase, I ordered a
Williams brand 3/4″ impact socket set on Amazon. When I got
it, I found out it was made in TAIWAN! Williams was one of
the oldest and greatest manufacturers of hand tools in America
    for more than 100 years!
Guess they both got tired of being ass-raped with a 40 grit
sandpaper condom by the government and paying sky-high energy
prices. How in the Hell could I possibly blame them?

  3. This was an eruption in the Alutian Islands a couple of years ago. But, hey, there goes Al Gores carbon budget.

  4. That image is spectacular.
And this eruption once again proves why Gaia-worship is pointless:
    Mother Nature doesn’t care.

  5. It is beautiful.
    What JJM and Occam said.
Leonard Jones, I have enough 100 Watt light bulbs stashed away for my lifetime and will be able to bequeath some to my children.

  6. Doggone it, Kate. I saw the caption on your post and ran right away to go change a lightbulb (looking for one o’ them nice eco-friendly mercury-containing twisty fluorescents) before I realized you were pulling our leg.

  7. So cool. Look at the heat island. The condensation cloud near the top as it cools and the pyro clastic flow down to the sw.

  8. I recall working with some Williams tools in a sawmill here in Alberta, excellent tools back then… I didn’t know they’d sold their name to someone in Taiwan.

  9. (A Watt is a unit of power North of 60) Posted by: Leonard Jones
Actually Lennie, a Watt is a unit of power everywhere on the planet not just North of 60, but I can see how someone from Californicatia USofA could be confused by that.

  10. Perhaps it’s a regional thing, but we can still buy all sorts of 100 watt incandescent light bulbs at our stores.

  11. I will say that now that 100 watt equivalant LED bulbs are available, I buy them and like them. Those Mr Softee mercury bulbs were just one more example of a green left/fascist coalition’s misguided/evil clusterfuck.

  12. everything has been said that an intelligent person can understand. wow. one volvano and more CO2 than billions of humans can exude in years.

  13. They may still be in business Marc. They probably fled to
Taiwan, and I assume Lincoln fled to China as well. I base
this on the fact that both products had an exceptionally
good build quality. This generally only happens when someone
who cares about a brand name is overseeing production.
If you want to see a good example of what Chinese tools look
like, stop off at a Harbor Freight store if you are ever in
the Southern California area. The shit is so cheesy that
it looks like it would break just by picking it up. But it
does sell to homeowners who would not know a quality tool
if it hit them on the head!

  14. Tim, even the LED’s are a solution to a problem that does
not exist. When you stop building power plants and ignore
the laws of supply and demand, energy prices soar. The
greater the supply the lower the price. Same goes with
gasoline. We could all be driving pickup trucks and
classic Cadillacs if we were not dealing with an
    artificially imposed energy drought!

  15. Anybody who thinks we cannot or should not build new generating
capacity is seriously delusional, and deserves to be shivering
in the dark when the train wreck occurs!

  16. Theres a real diffrence bewteen Bright Bulbs like we have in our homes and Dim Bulbs that are in Washington D.C. and the various eco-freak groups and the dimist of the dim-bulbs is AL GORE
