  1. The math????? Math is hard. So this 25% renewable means they are building these things out of wood and corn.Or are they using pixie dust and unicorn farts? And I may be wrong, but don’t ALL plastics come from nasty oil sources?

  2. There is something about driving around in a new BMW that makes you not give a damn about recycling or green foot prints or any of that other drivel designed to make us all as unhappy as liberals.

  3. All Prius owners would disagree…….with everything written here. Both they and the proud owners of Smart for two wannabe cars have only one major gripe, and that is for people to stop flipping them over for fun. Just no respect shown for people that are serious on cutting C02 emissions. 0 to 60 in several days is a small price to pay for saving Gia.

  4. “It used to be considered a good thing to leave ones footprint on the world.”
Lucky Lori.At this point it still is…for some of us …as long as there is an ecotard underneath it.

  5. I don’t see anything wrong using renewable raw materials and recycling plastics because it reduces waste and takes care of a genuine environmental problem, as opposed to imaginary environmental problems such as CO2 emmisions. Nowhere in that tweet does BMW mention CO2 emissions.
Is conservatism really a competition to see who produces the most garbage? Is conservatism not cleaning up after yourself?

  6. “Is conservatism really a competition to see who produces the most garbage? Is conservatism not cleaning up after yourself?”
Ahhhh. NO. CONSERVATION may be,but conservatism is a whole different animal. And as for producing the most garbage, look to the leftards.

  7. Kate is queen of the one-liner ….
Conservatism also means not making climate change issues the central point in one’s life … nor do we make obsession with racism a central point in our lives …. in fact very few of us want to make politics and government the central point in our lives and that explains why there are so few conservatives working for government or seeking office. Most of the ones who do … are liberal-conservatives … I suppose you need that hit of liberal as an inoculation so you can work among the living-dead control-freaks without becoming mentally ill.
Most of all …. conservatism means never having to say you feel guilty.
PS without BMW … liberals would be forced to choose between Range Rover, Mercedes and Jaguar. The horror.

  8. “Is conservatism really a competition to see who produces the most garbage?”
Just a little question – some math skills required.
Who produces the most garbage over 10 years?
    a) A person that buys a new BMW (with 25% recycled material) every 2 years.
    b) A person that keeps a F150 for 10 years.
“The interior of the #BMWi3 features 75% non-renewable raw materials and plastics.” Fixed it.

  9. Actually, Henry Ford experimented with plastics made from soybeans. And celluloid, indubitably a plastic, was made from cotton and nitric acid. And Bakelite is made from phenol and formaldehyde.
But most modern plastics are made from petroleum or natural gas, as that is the best way to make good, cheap plastic.

  10. Math is haaaaaaarrrrrrd – brainz is for eating, not using – old lib zombie saying
And a special shout out to Zoolander Trudeau on this one

  11. JT – The trog-prog troll shows us Trog-gressivism a race to see who can ignore the most blatant reality. His question is a presumption that garbage is forever, resources are finite and managing either of these provides an impasse to our technological acumen or capitalist model – that the only answer is public guilt complexes for simply existing and self imposed austerity under an authoritarian green police state regime -typical zombie left reaction – the product of a CBC/T-Star lobotomy.
The reality is garbage is energy just waiting to be utilized, and the technology exists now to do this – this is the ultimate recycling – but “progressive”c politicians have us into costly unnecessary energy use in recycling solids into less utilitarian solids and creating energy with inefficient high cost tech which only benefits the crony capitalists – true energy/recycling solutions only evade the low-brow luddite thinking of “progressives”.

  12. Just saying that to conserve, you gotta get the maximum utility (based on capitalists costs), of what you have.
Anything else, you are jerking off to the image of gia … who doesn’t care what anyone thinks.

  13. Kate, you DO realize that there EXIST real environmental problems that need to be adressed, don’t you? You have to make a distinction between REAL and FICTICIOUS environmental problems.
It is one thing to ridicule a company for promoting CO2 emissions reductions, but for recycling plastic? What is wrong with recycling plastic? Recycling plastic is a great thing, because it adresses a real environmental problem. The problem of waste generation and disposal. Do you realize that as part of normal economic activity, there is a great amount of garbage that is generated and if it were not for recycling, this garbage would end up in landfills?
Conservatism includes personal and corporate responsibility. The responsibility to clean up after yourself. If you made a mess, you clean it up, you just don’t dump it anywhere. Companies have a responsibility to deal with the garbage they have created as part of their economic activities. Do you want to turn Canada into China, where they dump all their garbage anywhere and they do not care? This is a real environmental problem. You can see it very clearly with your own eyes if you visit your local landfill. Gladly, it is not too difficult to mitigate. Scientists and engineers have come up with a way to reduce this waste by recycling. Now, this is completely different from CO2 emissions which do NOT cause any environmental problems except in the mind of David Suzuki.

  14. Wow, some truly fringe elements of society post on this forum. Let me get this straight, because I didn’t get the memo. So some of these people just don’t recycle plastic? I’m not talking about just throwing in the occasional plastic in with the regular garbage, but people who make it a point to throw all plastic in the regular garbage that goes in the landfill just to spite the environmentalists.
I am intrigued as to their thoughts on wastewater treatment for example. We don’t need no stinking wastewater treatment plants? Where do you live Occam? Can I dump 50 000 gallons of raw sewage next to your property? After all waste treatment is only for liberals, right? The raw sewage is just energy waiting to be utilized. Garbage is not forever. Come on, it will be good for the flowers.
Do these people belong to that weird fringe Freemen group or something? It is best this thing not come out in the open. If the CPC were to come out against plastic recycling, then Harper would have ZERO chance of reelection.
