Don’t Be Paranoid

They’re just out to get you.

What was once largely the domain of far-away UN conferences and obscure academic journals has now made its way to Main Street. Planning commissions, which have spread like wildfire over the past couple of decades and whose members are unelected, produce an endless array of schemes designed to micro-manage every aspect of commercial, residential, and recreational life. No town, no matter how small, is safe from the meddling of planners in and outside of government.

  1. I live in Grey-Bruce area of Ontario and you can see this trend in the Official Plan of the municipalities and counties . They are riddled with Green religion and sustainability doublespeak . One mayor recently said that he would like his municipality to pass an unwelcome host byelaw for industrial wind turbine developement but it would contravene their official plan .

  2. “A 300-page document divided into 40 chapters, Agenda 21 has many goals, including changing consumption patterns, conserving biological diversity, protecting fragile environments and the atmosphere, and achieving more sustainable settlements. Agenda 21 provides a blueprint for the kinds of structural changes the proponents of sustainable development (a term left purposely vague) want to see take place.”
This is the agenda the Left refuses to admit drives their cause.I have been ridiculed on many news sites for even mentioning A-21, as if it’s a woo-woo theory, not a clearly enunciated plan to meddle in and control all our lives, right down to local communities. A-21 is the ugly truth behind the supposedly benign green agenda.
Bureaucrats and busybodies (same beast) love this document,as it will keep them busy and make their lives seem important for eternity.

  3. The story seems to have vanished from the site. I tried searching it through their site, and it returns nothing but the headline and headline image.
Hopefully it will resurface some time.

  4. Was this not the argument for the “Long Form Consensus” If you
research the testimony @ the time, a PhD from McGill stated that the LFC data was absolutely necessary for future Planning.
The Machine (computer)society, where flawed human error is eliminated. No elected Boards or Trusties. Decisions on demand.

  5. Given the actual results of all this over control and asinine planning is dead downtowns and unsafe structures, why not scrap the planning departments all together.
They are useless lying idiots, who change their own rules every second year, harassing and inconveniencing the ratepayers.
    End result ? Christchurch NZ.
Time to ditch the idiotic regulations and regulators(parasites).
The property owner is the only person who any say.

  6. The people heading up Agenda 21 want the under-40 ‘select’ who are in elected positions in communities, or those who have been inculcated in this campaign are moved into areas where they get involved in local organizations and on committees. If you read local papers and pay attention to the names that crop up repeatedly you can usually figure out who they are. They tend to favour women over men for positions and want to include youth reps. (My observations.) Be aware of people who are new to the community but who criticize early on and push for ‘change.’

  7. There is a bit of a chink in the armour of these fascists. And that is the board members of the community association boards that exist pretty much everywhere. We had a relatively activist community association board a few years ago who believed that they were the voice of the community. The President of the community association said that the bylaws of the community association said that he “was the voice of the community”. I pointed out to him that the community association itself had no authority to act in that capacity, and that bylaws cannot give authority where the community association charter itself does not. But he and a few of his minions on the board agreed with him. I sent a copy of the community association charter to a lawyer and asked his opinion.
He wrote back that people with views like those of our community association president and his minions had better adjust their opinion because they were lining themselves up for huge liability claims if they continued down that path. When I showed the legal opinion letter to the community association board, they came unglued. And once they had the legal opinion they were hooped because had they continued down the path they were on, the director liability insurance they carried would have been void because they went directly against legal advice.
So time to put the heat on community associations….big time.

  8. You’ve got that right. Even in traditional, rural resource communities the Agenda 21 activists are trying to take over.

  9. Good on you Joey! Our small Niagara peninsula community has been trying to stop the continuing placing of “bird choppers” using all of the rules established by the Government of Ontario, but has been stopped at every turn.
    The Council correctly used $40,000.00 to fund their attempt and was blown off by the Ontario Bureaucrats and the local Socialist Representative no where to be seen. So much for the concern for the ordinary person. Cheers;

  10. Agenda 21 takes root first at the municipal level – where the council has jurisdiction over personal property and real estate – the kleptocrats (communitarians) bypass the other levels of government because the municipal level has more power over the largest amount of private holdings – before they are done, they will have erected a matrix of property regulation so tight it is impossible not to transgress and then fine by fine they will gain ownership of properties through default.

  11. Did Winston at MINITRUTH delete this article??
The story has been scrubbed from the website…..Anyone have a copy?

  12. Municipal “official plans” are a joke. In many municipalities there are meetings open to the public every other day to discuss amendments to the “Official Plan”. The local papers are filled with ads for them. Why bother to pass an official plan in the first place? It’s just make-work for useless bureaucrats and a waste of tax dollars.

  13. NV53 – 2 things have changed in municipal politics since the 70s –
1)Relative exclusivity of the zoning (land use and regulation structure) process = this is now done by professional planners in committee with the mayor, the planning commissioner and the (and pressure from special interests) – the “plan” is then rammed through council quickly as “routine biz” and essentially the public meeting is to rubber stamp the plan you had no input on. Then you can only protest the council vote, and enter a petition. Never have I seen citizens given the time or info to mount a proper opposition/rejection petition in open public council night.
    2) Regionalization has taken city zoning to another level with less access to the public – long term land use and capital project planning and regulating are done by regional council which vetos the city council zoning within its jurisdiction if in conflict – this is where the Agenda 21 communitarians and klepto-developers reside in virtual isolation from public accountability.
I know of what I speak after following this game for 20 years and sniping at them from the sidelines in public council night with limited success, but never diving into the political arena to add a corrective influence due to my career obligations – but when I retire, that will change.
If you want to see a real nest of vipers check into meeting minutes of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities – this is agenda 21 communitarian staging at a federal lobby level where they funnel fed bucks into local A-21 regulating.

  14. Effective today, the dwindling property rights of Ontario’s citizens are effectively erased with this Provincial Policy Statement on Land Use.
    http://www.mah.gov.on.ca/AssetFactory.aspx?did=10463
Read the pre-amble; read the “Vision”. And then, if you have the time to go through it, read the entire document from the perspective of a rural private property owner.
Ontario’s farm organizations – Ont. Federation of Agriculture, Christian Farmers Federation Ontario, and the National Farmers Union Ontario – colluded with the government in this legislated theft of private land use. Coming soon to a province near you.
