Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Straw-man. They always use a straw-man argument. Which is a pretty good indication that they know they’re wrong and they push the agenda for political reasons.
Strawman? Hardly.
Insanity? Yes.
I just love this 97% of scientists……blah, blah, blah. What they fail to mention is that not only was that number pulled out of their ass, but it also pertains to a closed, very exclusive club that does not even allow opposing opinions and goes to great length in manipulating all data to fit their narrative. Again, it’s just a matter of following the money, because the gravy train derails as soon as this biggest scam in history is exposed for the snake oil factory it really is.
Yes of course the “global wierding” is rendered only in Friedman’s mind.
He claims to be scientific; maybe he should actually do some reading rather than regurgitating AGW talking points, instead of the endless palaver propagated to induce capitulation through exhaustion.
So far Friedman’s ‘global wierding propaganda’ only induces intellectual nausea.

Nice house it’d be a real shame if it were to combust into CO2 and other particulate matter.

Seems like Globull Warming is not much of a threat anymore at 7117 Bradley Blvd Bethesda.
Nice pink trees too.
About the only positive thing about the AGW alarmist inquisition is that the collective left, and certainly the radical left, have divested ALL their credibility in this farce – they are wrong – they know they are wrong, and like single minded control freaks from time immemorial, they will take a sledge hammer to any evidence they are wrong.
This is why they will not debate – because debate demands an exchange of evidence and they know the self evidential truth is not on their side. This is why AGW priests use paranoid allegory and alarmist rhetoric, and react with cultic mantras rather than cite specific factual data. (the consensus mythology is a prime example of this)
As I said, their investing all their credibility in AGW (AKA catastrophic climate change) is a good thing because I predict the collective western left will dissolve along with their credibility, when climate alarmism dissolves in the light of truth and evidence as time rolls out an opposite reality. They know it, and it’s why they fight like cornered rats on this single issue – pulling out every extreme despotic strategy they can to stave off the inevitable revelation – that they are on the wrong side of history/truth/science – and when found out they should/will never be trusted again.
The only thing wrong with his 97 doctors analogy is that most of the ‘scientists’ who signed off on the report don’t know anything about climate science. So this is like saying ’97 out of a 100 doctors, podiatrists, dentists, nutritionists, health food purveyors, and authors of books about someone who got sick agree that a miniscule increase in gluten in your diet is responsible for weight gain, cramps, irritability, bad skin, ingrown toenails, impetigo, influenza, and impotence.’
Feh.
Thanks Smalldeadanimals! I appreciate the link to Politisite. I will link back so folks can see who sensitive to global warming Friedman is by living in a small teeny home to reduce his carbon foot print.
In the Face the Nation interview Heidi Cullen commenting on dealing with the global warming issue: “……. You know, the Chinese certainly didn’t treat this as a partisan issue.” another moral and intellectual superior speaks.
“THOMAS FRIEDMAN: So between 2006 and 2010, Syria actually experienced the worst drought in its modern history. And as a result, about a million Syrian farmers and herders left the countryside, flocked to the cities, where they completely overstressed…”
The drought wasn’t as hard on the farmers as Assad’s annual exports of 4 million bushels of durum wheat to North Korea in exchange for nuclear technology and equipment. This bit especially hard in 2007/8 when wheat prices skyrocketed and Syria had to buy wheat on the international market.
Charles Moore (The Telegraph)
[ The origins of warmism lie in a cocktail of ideas which includes anti-industrial nature worship, post-colonial guilt, a post-Enlightenment belief in scientists as a new priesthood of the truth, a hatred of population growth, a revulsion against the widespread increase in wealth and a belief in world government. It involves a fondness for predicting that energy supplies won’t last much longer (as early as 1909, the US National Conservation Commission reported to Congress that America’s natural gas would be gone in 25 years and its oil by the middle of the century), protest movements which involve dressing up and disappearing into woods (the Kindred of the Kibbo Kift, the Mosleyite Blackshirts who believed in reafforestation) and a dislike of the human race (The Club of Rome’s work Mankind at the Turning-Point said: “The world has cancer and the cancer is man.”).]

Couldn’t an asteroid fall on the Face The Nation set when Friedman is there? Please?
Nothing extravagant, just a nice Volkswagen-sized chunk of nickel/iron going 2,000 miles an hour.
Listening to this guy is like listening to Sarah Brady. There’s not a single truth coming out of his mouth, its ALL balderdash and the “news reporters” just sit there and lap it up like dogs on a hot day.
There’s a word to describe people who do that. Liars. Lying as a practice gets its own line in the ten commandments, the start of which is “Thou Shalt NOT…”.
Its just not a friendly thing to do. Barney disapproves. No hug for you, Tommy.
Please tell me if you think I am wrong with any of these thoughts.
– a small but significant segment of our population (worldwide) wants to rule everybody else
– a small but significant part of the population are natural born Con-Artists. From jokers to Madoffs.
– a large part of the population is ok with others making their decisions
– ‘trendy’ is a powerful mindset. (I don’t think this can be over emphasized.) Trends run their course and die but the phenomena goes on and on.
– something that is impossible to prove or disprove, at least initially, is prime material for a scam.
– a huge part of the population simply wants to believe in something – a belief, any belief, seems to settle things in their minds and make them feel good and content.
– a major player in society’s going off on tangents, is the Media. Any story, doesn’t matter if it is made up or false or unreasonable, is ok with editors and journalists, as long as it sells headlines. The scarier the better.
– Hollywood is also a major player, especially with so many scary movies being portrayed as “documentaries”.
– Universities are always on the lookout for the next calamity or society ill so that gov’t funding will be forthcoming to “solve” these
problems. Never let a disaster, a concern, a calamity go to waste – aka a chance to impose regulations, restrictions, “new” products, job “positions”.
– Con-Artists are always watching for some new ingreedient, product, theory that can then be combined with the above catalysts > $$$
– centuries ago, religion probably started out as a very moral and worthy endeavor. Respect your neighbor, do not steal, have hope and faith. But then along came the con-artists with – ‘come to our place of business(church) and you will go to heaven when you die’ (Try and disprove THAT!, heh.) Fear(death, end of the world). Salvation promises(Priests, Kings, Elites, Idols). Obey(via collection plate, taxes, price increases)
– mankind is always striving to do things better – the reason he/she is the top of the animal kingdom. Every new generation is keen on doing things better than the previous. So by default, many “new” ideas are readily adopted first but have to be subsequently junked when/if they are discredited. Problem is, a lot of innocent people can get hurt because this process can take years, half a lifetime even. This would not be the case if the Media had even a smidgen of integrity.
– a population that is fearful is easy to control. Fearful of anything – perceived, real, invented.
– very few people know the Laws Of Thermodynamics, Conservation Of Energy, Genetic Makeup and a whole host of fundamentals in this world, and so we, on a regular and never ending basis, are blessed with the latest and greatest perpetual motion machine or cure. This would not be a problem at all if the media would give even just a fraction of the airtime to those with the worthy track record instead of alloting most of it to the unproven, out of their league flakes.
– con-artists are very smart people. so smart they are often able to convince us of something by playing on our morals and good intentions without us realizing that what they are really proposing has no merit or is based on false or made up assumptions. Often times it is not what they are telling you that is the problem, it is what they are NOT telling you.
– when challenged, con-artists always, always! refuse to discuss/debate and instead deflect, defer, move on. This tactic always works again and again because people have short memories.
– just because a person is very very adept, capable in a certain field is no indication that they are at all worthy on any other subject – aka, the absent minded professor, “intellectuals”, – and yet major policy decisions and economy changing and major moral evaluations are often made by those who do not have a clue in that field. Political connections, vested interests are more likely at play.
Throw the above into a pot and stir and voila !! Scams. Hoaxes. Beliefs. Wars. Ponzi Schemes.
I think the saddest belief is that Political Parties fight it out amongst themselves because they are trying to help the people – and we believe our party is the ‘one’. There is a much much bigger difference between the Political Parties and the rest of the population than between the political parties themselves. Just as, not too long ago, when Kings&Queens would send their subjects into battle with another country while the Kings & Queens of these and other countries would inter marry, party hardy. The Ruling Class.
Then there is the element which regards the FEMA CAMPS as threatening…..I speculate they will be an asset in the coming realighnment….
Sort of ironic actually….the builders overlooked the prospect that they could be the inmates……the proverbial rod for their own back.
@ron in k – Darwin would just say your “con artist” variant of humanity has adapted better to their environment and are currently flourishing, until the next better-adapted variation comes along and supplants them. I think this next variant will likely be termed “the patriot”.
Sgt., that’s out of line.
I wonder what Mr. Friedman has to say about Syria now?
I heard Richard Stengel, former editor at Time magazine, now works in Obama admin, use this phrase before. Just did a google search for it. No luck. Trust me though, I heard him say it.
Hi Tom,
Just wondering, what temperature should the earth be anyway?
Well, since you asked, 4 degrees less everywhere!…. except at my house! And my yard. And my pool. And my boatlaunch!
F U very much!
