  1. Unlabelled ordinate; no explanation for the different colours used in the bar chart; inconsistent
labelling of abscissa; we regret, Ms. McMillan, that your article does not meet the quality
guidelines of this journal and we will therefore decline to publish it.

  2. Ackshully, John Lewis. It is all pretty clearly labeled, what is it that you do not understand?

  3. John simply doesn’t like what the graph obviously states.
To people like him, Michael Mann’s hide-the-decline ecool-aid still tastes great.

  4. You could be right about the sarcasm thing, but we are dealing with a movement that is notoriously hard to parody.

  5. TJust a quick glance suggests there must have been quite a number of SUVs during the Cambrian to Devonian periods.

  6. Lies, its all lies, the true faith insists that todays levels of atmospheric CO2 must be unprecedented .
All those shale beds, coal seams and limestone formations are figments of your imagination.
Its not hard to parody the cult of calamitous carbon, just hard to imagine how pathetic, criminal and stupid they are.
Examples abound, would a parody writer ever have been able to make the real life cultists believable as a work of fiction?
Greenp*ss, 10-10, CRU and the mann all spring to mind.

  7. Geologists will eventually rename the current era the “Carbonophobic” instead of “Anthropocene”.
Talk about controlling the message by controlling the labels…

  8. The first time I read a paleogeologist talking about historical (geological-scale!) CO2 levels, it was obvious that worries about modern levels were … exaggerated, at best.
(Per Mr. Lewis’ comment – which I agree is likely sarcasm – it IS true that the ordinate (Y scale) is not labeled, though I inferred that it’s CO2 concentration in parts-per-million.)

  9. I always get a kick out of carbon deniers. without CO2 we are all dead. carbon is necessary. try doing without it. you are dead and return your carbon to the earth.

  10. And do not forget:
The earth’s atmosphere is dangerously low on CO2.
    Current concentration is …… 0.040% (400 ppm).
    A century ago …………….. 0.030% (300 ppm).
    Dinosaur times ……………. 0.150% (1500 ppm)
Plants stop growing at …….. 0.020% (200 ppm)
Plants die (us also !!) at …. 0.015% (150 ppm)
Good thing Gore, Suzuki and company were not successful at lowering CO2 conc down to the point where life would end on earth. Of course Susuki DID say humans are maggots.
From the ‘doubling of nothing still results in nothing’ department:
    Nitrogen …. 78.00% (7800 ppm)
    Oxygen …… 21.00% (2100 ppm)
    CO2 ………. 0.04% (400 ppm) Ha, what a cruel joke.
Oh, and what about that CO2 warming fear ?? Maybe in a hundred years the earth could, could! be half a degree or so warmer. But yesterday here it was 3C. Today it is 6C. Next week it could be minus 10C. Next summer it could be 38C.
So what is the big deal about a maybe, maybe! half a degree warmer ?? You would rather it half a degree cooler?? And a ruined economy ?? With CO2 running on empty and the poor plants starving and gasping in a CO2 depleted atmosphere. What happened to all you tree huggers ?? Where is your compassion ?? You should be out there helping those hard working people cleaning up the biggest oil spill ever! that was caused by Mother earth herself, aka The Alberta Oil Sands.

  11. Sorry to have to correct you, but I am a science/math teacher. 78% Nitrogen is 780,000 ppm and 21% Oxygen is 210,000 ppm. So the difference for the tiny amount of CO2 is even greater.

  12. I expect Trenberth to develop a theory about the missing heat of the dinosaur times that proves they breathed fire and were holding the catastrophic runaway warming factor inside their bellies. In a spectacular and melancholy display of love for the planet the fire breathing dinosaurs, understanding the consequences of their wasteful methane producing diets, started to leap into the deep ocean holding large rocks at the end of their lives to save the planet from themselves. This is how the deep oceans of the Jurassic rose in temperature so much without a rise in the surface temps. If CO2 levels rise by 15 more ppm tundra methane will go out of control and start a warming slide that will see those dinosaurs and their still hot bellies rise from the depths, ending the climate as we know it with the smoldering embers of their ancient dragon fire.

  13. very easy to observe that the trees in Cretaceous times were very low in foliage compared to current times. a very easy adaptation to decreasing CO2 levels , make more leaves or starve
more stunning that a biologist like Dr. Mengele Suzuki hasnt had the same observation

  14. however Amber wouldnt exist till Triassic so not sure where early data would come from , perhaps extrapolated from Limestones
