‘Geneva talks a facade, US-Iran worked secretly on deal for past year’
The report, which relied on unnamed senior Israeli officials, said the US team to the secret talks was led by Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett. Her primary interlocutor, the report said, was the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi. The talks have been taking place in various Gulf states.
In the course of the talks, the report said, the Americans offered the Iranians a series of “confidence-building measures,” which underlined American readiness to conclude a deal and undercut sanctions pressure.

Valerie Jarrett and Iran again?
Almost exactly one year ago reports surfaced that Valerie Jarrett was engaged in “secret” negotiations with Iran as Obama’s personal emissary.
The reports originated with Iranian bloggers, and was reported also by The New York Times. The Obama administration categorically denied the reports.

It does make sense that there have been secret backchannels established, because both Israel and France seemed surprised as John Kerry was ready to sign a weak agreement with Iran. The Israelis in particularly were furious that they had been misled as to the terms until the last minute.
Whether Jarrett was involved, though, is another thing.”
I would not be surprised in the least that there were some ‘back channel’ negotiations going on; the only thing unclear is how high up the ‘food chain’ those discussions took place.

Obama. Really, the probability that she was not involved is a lot smaller than the probability
that she was involved.
So the Obama administration is bypassing the duly appointed and congressionally approved Secretary of State? Is that not an impeachable offense? Is there any part of the constitution that Emperor Barack actually obeys?

Valerie Jarrett is uniquely qualified to negotiate on our behalf with Iran.
She lived there until she was five years old.
Think of the experience she got there, riding her tricycle around the streets

Well the Sunnis used body satchels on the Iranian embassy in Beirut yesterday. A desperation move IMO as their fight in Syria goes against them. The split between Iran and the Russians continues as Putin cozies up to the Saudis and Egyptians. The pragmatic Iranians are wise enough to see the USA as a far better ally.
Sunni Islam is the source of international jihad not Iran. New world sources of oil are cutting the support for ME oil supply which Sunni countries control. The USA is now comfortable enough to reduce their support of the Saudis. I have to believe that Israel is quietly on board with this. My gut tells me that the religious moderates who now control Iran are more interested in delivering economic benefits to their citizens than using the Israelis as foils to deflect short comings in their own society. The Saudis cannot abandon that same strategy as it would mean their ultimate destruction.
