Perhaps Obama is just trying to out-do Roosevelt by appointing a worse Ambassador than Joe Kennedy. While Kennedy was still doing family business with the Germans before the US had entered the war, as US Ambassador to England, he publicly stated that he believed the British were going to lose the war.

Mr Barzun is the grandson of the late Columbia professor Jacques Barzun, who must be looking down with grave disappointment on his grandson. I note also that, having served as an intern to Senator John Kerry, he learned enough from his mentor to marry “heiress of the Jack Daniels whiskey empire.”
Given the behaviour of this self-important twit, I’m happy now that Obozo has yet to appoint an ambassador to Canada. With any luck, it will remain unfilled.
What to do? The EU is going down the toilet and will probably draw the USA with it has world commerce tanks. It might drag through 2014 but when France craters it will all collapse.
Obamer has been briefed but what can he do? His own spending comes into question. None of this will ever change until politicans are thrown in jail for negligence. Since they did not throw any bankers in jail I doubt any politcans will either.
