  9. The salient point, IMO, is that this false flag was being waved – published – by someone. Note that the photo accompanying the caption “A George Zimmerman supporter holds a sign…” etc. is tagged “AP” — Associated Press.
    Neither Instapundit nor Gateway pundit identifies the newspaper/website/publication that printed this false “story” in such a manner. I’m very curious as to who it might have been.

    It’s about the media. Here’s yet another sign that this is the case: the leftoid was not only “honest and open” that she was not a Zimmerman supporter, but – get this – she “located herself quite clearly on the Trayvon Martin/New Black Panther Party-supporting side of the demonstration.”
    This latter fact, I have no doubt, was apparent to any journalists who might have been there.
    Here’s the bottom line: a story about a sarcastic leftist Trayvon supporter holding up a sarcastic/ironic sign while standing with a bunch of pro-Trayvon protesters and New Black Panthers isn’t news, whereas a story portraying a white woman as an openly racist conservative (“Tea Party, eh?”) holding up a racist sign *is* news$.
    All it takes for the media – the international media – to smear conservatives/whites/Tea Party-types in the US is a single leftist holding up a sarcastic sign. How easy is that for the left?

In a backwards/reverse-order sort of way, this reminds of the 2005-2006 Christmas campaign break swing to the Conservatives, when CTV was only too happy to publish the professionally-made signs which appeared in the road allowances in Kitchener ON, and which read, “Stephen Harper for Republican”.
    That was effective! Neither one of them knew what they were talking about; I still smile when I recall that.

  20. She has nothing to lose by “apologizing” now. Her action has served its purpose. Tens of millions of people will only remember the “Racist and Proud” sign, and the fact that they were told it was a Zimmerman supporter. Corrections never wipe out the effect of the lie, and even a very public and widely publicized apology, (which this is not) has virtually no impact on the original narrative.
    I can guarantee that a decade from now this image will be presented in its original context while the fraud and the apology will be completely forgotten.
    This is the great secret of propaganda: the only things that matter are 1) boldness and 2) repetition. Nobody gives a shit if you were lying.

  21. Roseberry, you’re right – I think I had mentally transposed Matt 18:15-17 into Matt 6, and it’s not really applicable. I have trouble with that concept, too, but it frees us from a lot of negative mental baggage somtimes.

    However, she is not a liar when one thinks about it. White liberals do tend to be racists.

  36. Then there’s Luke 17:3-4 “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.”
    That sounds as if you don’t have to forgive someone who won’t repent, isn’t sorry and doesn’t care that they’ve wronged you. It doesn’t mean you should hate them or want to harm them but this verse doesn’t seem to make it mandatory that you forgive them.
    Yet Matthew 6 says, “Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.”
    What to make of this.
    Maybe Luke is speaking of forgiving someone directly, in person, after they repent; and Matthew may be talking of forgiving people in our hearts, before God.
    One thing that might support this idea is that Jesus said, “Father forgive them, they don’t know what they’re doing.” They were speaking to him, taunting him, “Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!” He could have responded, “I forgive you,” but he didn’t answer them at all. He talked to his Father about it instead.

  37. Greg, this is it. Of course you should forgive a repentant sinner. First, they must actually repent.
    Any leftist who is willing to return to the Queen double the money he had stolen from her subjects, or all he had of value (whichever is less), accepted Jesus as his Lord and Master, and to spend the rest of his days working twice as hard to serve Him and defend Christian civilization as he had to serve the Evil One and destroy Christendom—he should be forgiven, and allowed to live in peace.
    The number of leftists who have ever actually done this is vanishingly small, in part because to do it requires a soupcon of humility. The greed, sloth, and lust of the typical leftist is equalled only by his vanity and arrogance. Even when faced with the firing squad—by which time a normal person would realize all is lost, and might be forgiven for begging mercy—the best reaction one can expect a leftist is to ask, “Do you know who the devil I am?”

She knew she could stand there holding that awful sign and the media would seize upon it and her as being supportive of Zimmerman – no questions asked. When Darby did ask she straight up said she was making fun of who she and the media thinks are Zimmerman supporters.

  44. The media are the ones who manufactured the racial aspect of the zimmerman story in the first place. This little sign and this stupid woman holding it just advances their little story. Why would the media investigate their own fabrication?

  45. Thanks, Greg, that’s the passage I had in mind. The question of repentance is tricky – for now I will make sure that I truly repent to ask God for forgiveness, but I’ll do my utmost to forgive everybody else for everything, regardless of whether they repent or not.

    The fact that this unremarkable little piece of leftist mockery was widely publicized (including in international newspapers like the UK’s Daily Mail) as a “racist conservative white Texan woman” story proves your point: instead of investigating/fact-checking, the MSM decided to go with the race-baiting.
    “Accidental” race-baiting resulting from laziness in fact-checking is still race-baiting.

  47. That’s the interesting thing. People who rally for law and order are, well, lawful and orderly. No violence. Had an agent provocateur gone to a pro-Trayvon meeting with a sign that said “Trayvon was a thug!” he would have been thrashed and quite possibly killed.
    Believe me, that distinction is not lost on Lefties.
