Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle

After being caught red handed in the “do as I say, not do as I do” trap, he still could not explain why he would buy plenty of ammo if he planned to turn the AR-15 over to the police. I guess confiscation is only for the “little” people or as the British like to say, “I’m alright Jack”.
In not unrelated news, Richard Henry Bain’s next court hearing is Tuesday, March 12. He has waived his right to counsel; he cannot afford a lawyer and the court will not provide him with counsel that speaks adequate English and will not force him to testify against himself.
Jared Loughner, if by chance he hears the news, will probably not be surprised. He refused to co-operate, knowing that nobody in a position to do anything about it would listen to a word he had to say. If decent people ever regain power in the States before the Day of Judgement, Mr. Loughner is owed a pardon and a lifetime pension for valour in the fight against tyranny and for compensation for wrongful imprisonment. If British liberty is restored to Lower Canada before the Day of Judgement, Richard Bain is owed the same from the Queen.
As it is, Messrs. Loughner and Bain will die in prison if the Obama and Marois governments have their way, never mind that their only crimes were heroic attempts to put down enemies of queen and nation.
That’s why the right to keep and bear arms must not be infringed. Sending enemies of the nation to join Judas Iscariot is no crime. It’s the solemn duty of every patriot. It is to be expected, when they see one of their wicked fraternity laid low, that traitors in high places would try to make it easier for themselves to escape justice in this world. It remains the duty of patriots to use all means at their disposal to prevent it.
Of course Mark Kelly blames “guns” for it all. His alternative is to accept that the blood of five innocents (the sixth was a judge whose rulings in favour of mass infiltration of Mexicans illegally into Arizona had made a mockery of the nation’s security and the private property of local landowners, and the hour was late for his departure to join Judas) was on the hands of his accursed wife and not of law-abiding gun owners or manufacturers. If he ever did anything of the kind—well, so much for his meal ticket.
Dick Slather, up U’r meds, U sound like U’v lost it completely!!!!
I’ve got to hand it to you, Slater. I think I’m usually pretty good at spotting fakes, sock puppets and Moby trolls, but you had me half-way convinced you were the real deal. That Loughner comment, though – you’ve over-stepped it this time.
I just do not get what kind of point he is trying to make. After beating the gun control drum for how long, he strolls into a gun shop and buys an AR-15 on a whim (a gun that stores have not been able to keep on the shelf, he finds one just gathering dust). Plunks down all that money and jumps through the hoops, to take possession of the weapon and then turns around and hands them to the police because they’re too dangerous or he can’t be trusted to handle one safely or whatever? Even for a piece of political theater, it’s transparently silly.
Of course, if the MSM are lined up to spin the narrative, then it starts to click. He’ll be “a long time gun enthusiast who realizes he needs to give up his hobby for the greater good”. Dozens of networks to cover him taking a brave stand against his fellow shooters, some close-ups up as he or the police ceremonially chop up the new (whoops, I mean ‘well-used over many years’) rifle, you get the idea.
V10.. The truly hysterical thing about the story is, that in submitting the paperwork for the purchase, form 4473, there is a question that asks if he was buying it for somebody else… question 11, I believe,
Now, all it would take, was a review of the form that Kelly filled out, which will prove he’s either a liar, or a criminal, (lying on a BG check is a felony)
where did he find ammo? I seriously want to know.
V10, he didn’t indicate he would hand in the AR-15 to the police until the fact that he bought it was in the news. I doubt very much this was a coincidence. If his intention was to do this from the beginning, why did he also purchase ammo? Which scenario is more likely and believable?
1. He was buying the rifle to make a point when he handed then handed it over to the police, or
2. He’s a lying lefty hypocrite.
Oh my, isn’t that one of those “black” guns which have an evil spirit which possesses the owners? And after she escapes a brush with another evil black gun. Oh the humanity! We hoplophobes would pray for her but we won’t lower our cardboard intellects to believe in God – just the evil spirits in the black guns.
@ daryl and Syd B.: True, it could just be sheer Do-As-I-Say-Not-As-I-Do. But then surely it must have crossed his mind that sooner or later someone would have called attention to the fact that he bought a Scary Military Assault Weapon at the peak of this hysteria. I’d wager the true motive was that he bought the gun (and ammo) to be political props in the near to mid future, but had to improv when the story broke early.
Or maybe I’m just seeing Machiavellian cunning where all there is is boneheaded hypocrisy.
I don’t blame him for buying it. His wife, after all, was assaulted, and he has a duty to protect his family.
Gabby Giffords’ husband probably has seen weird people hanging around his place and figured he needed something to see them off with, just like the rest of us do. He also likely thought nobody would know it was him, and he would quietly slip under the radar due to his wife’s media-applied sainthood.
Wrong-o, dude.
We already know this guy’s a world-class CREEP because he’s parading his sick wife around in front of the media. You ever notice they don’t show her in much video these days? That because she can’t walk right, she can’t talk right and she can’t function as a competent adult anymore. Somebody loses that much brain tissue, that’s what happens to them. Takes some serious editing to make her look half-way normal, would be my bet.
Frankly I think the woman deserves better than to be used as a political sock puppet, regardless of her prior history as a scummy Democrat politician. Its evil.
And speaking of evil, MobyDick Slater has spewed out some beauty example there above. Nice! Hey Dickie, tell you what. Maybe you should share lodging with Mr. Bain and Mr. Loughner for a little while, say maybe a week or two. If you survive being in close proximity to those two fruitloops you can fill us all in on how hard done by they are.
Or, you could go pound salt.
I believe that makes him a “straw buyer”. Arrest him.
Phantom,
What you are saying is probably the case. He’s likely received a load of death threats from fruit loops like Dick Slater and figured he needed to buy some weapons to protect his wife and himself if it came down to it, before the police get there just like the rest of us plebes.
Then when someone reported his purchase to the press he had to do something quick to divert what is pretty bad looking hypocrisy.
Unfortunately for him he’s proved the point of the rest of us that we need guns for self defence just like we need fire extinquishers for those rare fires.
A leftist acting hypocritically? I can see why the lame-stream media did not report it, it’s not news. A leftist living by his words, that would be news.
Regarding the ARS statement that high capacity magazines are not needed for hunting or self defense, if this is so why do the police and government agencies who can only legally shoot in self defense have them?
Lotsa noise about turning the black rifle over to the cops but crickets about the 45 1911A he bought at the same time……
It’s about time he took care of his family. Congratulations to him. A .45 and an AR15, wise choices. He forgot the pump 12 gauge with buckshot. Nice to see those balls grew back Mark.
Hey don’t be so hard on Dick 😉 That last post is epic. And maybe he’s legitimately recruiting for a jailbreak mission!
‘..hard on Dick’. Oh-kaaayy …??
YUP, Black Mamba, I was thinking EXACTLY that reading that disgusting, psychotic diatribe from Mr. Slater.
Proof positive that he’s a TROLL out to discredit the site. As a libertarian I take a very dim view of censorship but I would have no hesitation in removing that comment.
He’s a quite skilled faker but as you suggest he’s jumped the shark on this one. I’ll never read him again.
No mention of how Jared Loughner got the gun. He had a history of schizophrenia and arrests to boot.
Joe Biden is right; gun control laws are likely not very effective.
Nothing surprises me anymore.

Oh, he has a certain amusement value.
I quit ready the “DICK” some time ago, his posts were as identifiable as ET’s, but his posts were not coherent (and informative) like ET’s, troll, bible thumper, or lefty, all about the same in my books.

Awkward Hypocrite Is Awkward…….Damn It’s So Easy To See The BS In His Claims. What Does Left Think Nowadays. That People Are Dumb Enough To Manipulate Or Coerce? Faggotry I Tell Ya, They Sure As Hell Didn’t Fool Me Any.

I’m getting a bit tired of Gooby Gifford ,as you say, being paraded around like a victim muppet.
She’s too damaged to realize she’s a pawn, poor thing. It’s a disturbing spectacle but keep in mind, it’s right out of the Lefty playbook……. “exploit any media event”.
Sarah Brady bent the rules to purchase a rifle for her son 12 years ago.

I’d love to drop in at my local gun shop, buy a 1911 and an AR on a whim, and simply wait for the background check and waiting period.
But I live in Canada, and can’t.
The astronut says it was always his intention to turn the guy in as “so easy to buy”.
To me this falls under “what could possibly go wrong”????

Why not? If you have a valid and appropriate firearms license you can do that without any background check or waiting period in Canada. Of course if you don’t qualify for a firearms license you can’t. Was that your point?
I’m thinking Robert’s point is that….. Hmmm; I’m not sure, but those are restricted guns in Canader and must be registered. He also has to have the correct level of Possession License.
He’s obviously a racist and a terrorist.
He can deny it all he wants to now, but it’s waaaaay to late.

Maybe it’s a financial thing.
If you have the money and the time, you can buy nutered versions of an AR15 in Canada with 5 round mag capacities. 1911’s no problem, I have a couple of them.
