  1. I guess I could float them a small pay day loan if they put up some of that farmland as collateral. The Chinese can have the rare earth minerals

  2. “The economy started to come apart at the seams in 2000, when President Robert Mugabe seized the land of over 4,000 white-owned farmers, effectively dismantling the country’s agriculture industry”. Wow yeah I’m not sure why this happened or where Obama got his inspiration from.

  3. $217 is in the trillions in ZWD and more than enough to pay the government’s bills for a very long time. OK there is rapid devaluation …. for some time to come then.
(And when they going to send Mugabe back to Yorkshire?)

  4. “Its government is also dealing with brand new allegations that government officials have been running a corruption ring around the country’s diamond mines.”
Allegations? Would I be considered racist if I would bet my last Canadian dollar that the allegations are absolute fact?
Theresa Spence could take lessons from these guys.
F*** ’em! Not a cent of Canadian taxpayers money to this corrupt regime!
The UN watched while Mugabe stole the land from the white farmers who had made the Rhodesian economy the most sound in all of Africa, and did absolutely nothing. It was so obvious Mugabe’s “freedom fighters” were a bunch of murderous deadbeats that couldn’t operate a lemonade stand, but the good UN stood by and let this happen.

  5. So we kick out/kill all the white farmers, and then wonder why the bread basket of Africa goes down the tubes???
So they re-elect the Chimp in Chief, and wonder why their debt keeps going up,and the country is considering a TRILLION dollar coin(sorta like Mugabe’s bills).Anybody see any similarities here? Are letards really that dense,or have they all had frontal lobotomy’s at birth?

  6. Their problem isn’t socialism; their problem is culture.
They’re rich in natural resources, but they’re poor in culture.
One can often predict how long it’s been since an African nation has gained “independence” from its European sponsor (colonizer) by how far the infrastructure has run down. In other words, once the African culture is in charge, nothing gets done; no resources are tapped, nothing gets fixed, nobody has any ideas about how to do productive things.
“We will be approaching the international community,” Biti said.
This would be to ask for money, which in African culture naturally goes to the guy in charge of the tribe and does nothing to better the lot of the tribe members.
You’ll never guess who’s most likely to come to the rescue. Hint: They’re big fans of rare minerals.
This would be the Chinese who, if they inject Chinese culture as well as money, will get things rolling again. But then they’re back to sponsor/colonizers; the only difference being the epicanthic folds.

  7. Yes, I always remember my grandmother’s stories of paying 4 billion Reichsmarks for a loaf of bread. Apparently, that little episode didn’t end very well…
Hey, they could mint a diamond studded platinum coin for $100 quadrillion Zimbabwe dollars and pay off the entire debt of the United States…!
Economic crisis solved, you can send my check in the mail from my rich African benefactors!
    What could possibly go wrong…?
    Cheers

  8. You expected the UN to defend Rhodesia? You might as well expect Satan to cast out Satan.
Defending Rhodesia from the Queen’s enemies was the responsibility of her British ministers—a responsibility her Rhodesian ministers were forced to assume when it became clear that Harold Wilson was determined to sell Rhodesia to the Soviet Union over the objections of almost every loyal British subject living in Rhodesia.
Par for the course for Wilson, who was preparing to sell Ulster to Dublin for good measure. He’d have sold his own mother to Robert Mugabe and his daughter to Pope Paul to get Britain into the Common Market. There were precious few people in Rhodesia for whose fate Wilson would spare a second thought, much less have over for tea if he had a choice, and most of those would be on the first planes to London when Mugabe seized power. The devil could take the Rhodies, who weren’t likely to vote Labour anyway—assuming Mugabe didn’t dispatch them to Gehenna himself. Wilson signed Rhodesia’s death warrant, resting assured that he and Rhodesia’s liberals would all die in a civilized country—in bed.
People wonder why liberals never seem to learn from their mistakes (assuming they even are “mistakes”). It’s simple, really. If treason has no consequences, why should they?

  9. You can’t blame President Robert Mugabe for this. He inherited this mess from those 4,000 white farmers.
    Racists /s

  10. I actually have a couple of 500 trillion dollar notes from the Zim. Real, circulated currency no less. I give em away as gifts for my good customers. Mind you, I also have 10 BRIC shares from back in the ’80s. They are worth even less.

  11. I know.Totally OT….but has just been confirmed(Fox and CNN) that the Israel Airforce blew the hell out of a Syrian convey heading to Lebanon carrying SA-17 anti-aircraft weapons, and others arms.My only question is,why didn’t they have a few other planes around, whose INS/GPS screwed up,and,oopppppssss.Damn.Got downtown Damascus.Life’s a beeyotch when you’re a terrorist.

  12. Hey! Justthinkin: You got hate on the space bar for some reason? Two comments in a row, man.

  13. Africa has been picked apart by all the most vile cabals in history and it still continues – not just home grown Marxist military dictators. I often think that had Africa not been gifted with its rich mineral resources, it would enjoy blissful slumber as an undeveloped continent/culture untroubled by covetous interlopers and venal political strong men.
Ironically Africa’s curse (its precious mineral reserves)is also its key to salvation and self sufficiency – all it would take is a little education of the population – something both western governments and local strong men violently reject for obvious reasons.

  14. Ahhh. No, JohnPeg. Just an after thought after the first post. And yes,it was off topic. So what is your view on the Zero’s plan for a trillion dollar coin, like the Zib’s trillion dollar bill?

  15. Heh. I am indeed proud of some of the phrases I have contributed to impolite society, such as “Chimp in Chief” and “All the news that fits our views“. I need to work harder, though, at getting more into the “mainstream”, such as “Muslim in Chief” and “Just another Fluke“.

  16. all it would take is a little education of the population – something both western governments and local strong men violently reject for obvious reasons.
It seems to me that the European sponsors of African nations endeavoured to educate the population, foremost the Brits. But an inevitable by-product of such an education is pressure for a cultural shift which was overtaken by a competing need for the tribal masters to maintain the supremacy accorded them by the predominating culture.

  17. Woohoo! I’m richer than an entire government!
If I recall correctly, the Zimbabwe currency was abandoned in 2009 and South African rands, US dollars or British pounds are now recognized by the central bank.
So let’s see Ogabe redistributed wealth (land and livestock) from the productive to the unproductive. Obama is also redistributing wealth from the productive to the unproductive. By the end of King Obama’s reign the US will be printing billion dollar bills and everyone will be a millionaire but it will cost half a million for a loaf of bread.

  18. Sorry! Almost forgot “jackasses-in-elephant-suits“. THAT is one of my favorites. Although it is rather difficult to type out correctly. And if one merely abbreviates it as “JIES“, people tend to think one is an anti-Semite with a spelling problem. Instead of merely an OPF.

  19. I remember reading about Mugabe giving some of the seized land to his family members and political friends after they ran off , or killed, the white farmers. This was rich farmland that was prosperous and profitable under white ownership. When the blacks got it they let farm machines rot and rust. They allowed fields to become overgrown with weeds. And orchards full of trees that once grew food for export were cut down and used for firewood. This was all done by the so-called educated elite of Zimbabwe. There is no educating these people. Before colonialism they were savages, and after colonialism they are savages. They seem to need an awful lot of adult supervision to make them behave like human beings. And my wife wonders why I am against multiculturalism?

  20. These critiques of Afrikaa hardly seem fair. After all, the SEIU had notting to do weese dat.

  21. The major problem that occurred with respect to “education” of the African elites under colonialism can be summed up as, The London School of Economics. After Karl Marx himself, the London School of Economics must be responsible for more human poverty, misery and degradation than any other institution on the planet. It grinds out doctrinaire economic idiots with amazing consistency. If I’m not mistaken, Bob Rae and Pierre Trudeau were both economically lobotomized at that institution.

  22. Here’s a novel suggestion. Sell all land in the country back to WHITE farmers and the countries black leadership must promise that if they are going to steal the profits they must allow the new owners to create the government and the marxists will then agree to leave the country forever.
This should guarantee that the country goes back into the hands of competent people who know how to create wealth and we know that the marxists will be gone with whatever wsn’t nailed down.

  23. And this we owe to Chretien and his pressure on the Commonwealth to let Mugabe run his election in 2002 without pressure or interference from the rest of the Commonwealth.
I ran into a retired pilot from the Rhodesian Air Force. His pension was worthless. I wonder what happened to the planes.

  24. Since the UN appointed Mugabe International Tourism minister, you would think he could at least get the economy moving through that venue. I think the unforeseen consequences of making his hatred known for white folks and then finding out black soul brothers are broke might have thrown a wrench into his plans. When Ian Smith ran the country which was then known as Rhodesia, tourism was a vibrant part of the economy and Rhodesia was known as the Bread Basket of Africa. Now it’s a basket case with $212 in the bank. Just what does a International Tourist Minister do anyway ? What’s the pay ? Will get right on that and ask the UN. After all , they led the sanctions that made the great Mugabe what he is today.

  25. Zimbabwe Is Americas future under the President for life. Obamas dream.Trillion ddollar coins dancing in his head. While Urban centers disintegrate like Detroit.
After all its only white people who are bigots .Its the fake poor who are now the noble savage. The worker the slve owner.
Notice how the left avoids mentioning this disater like all the rest this ideology of evil has done to Nations left in ruins.
Mugabe at his advanced age is likely not going to be around to put more than 5 Billion more in his Swiss bank acount. Be sure though that another nut will take his place.
As time passes the North American Media continues to ignore the worship of Marxism with its degrading efffects. Pimping for poverty as usual. After all its the emotional appeal of socialism that excites them, not its end game.

  26. Zimbabwe Mon.
My brother inlaw told me this would happen 30 years ago.
I too notice the media never mentions this successful socialist country.
Yet they keep promoting socialist nitwits as their favoured leaders for Canada.
Canada needs a new embassy in Zimbabwe, one we can staff with our socialist nitwits, starting with the entire CBC staff.

  27. How – I did the $100T from Zimbabwe from about 2 – 3 years from e-bay for about $3.50 with postal. Ha…

  28. Gee, and I’ve got this e-mail from their former Treasury minister offering me half if only I let him put it in my bank account.

  29. I love how the comments were like you don’t know what a liberal is
“I prefer the term neoliberal, or simply authoritarian.”
I remember arguing with a liberal, telling me that Hitler was a right wing capitalist.
I explained to him, no in fact he was the leader of the national socialist party. You can be a socialist, authoritarian and even dictatorial and even all three. Under a free market capitalist society you cannot, he thought I was nuts. This came from a man that graduated with a BA in political science, and business administration.
