Blue State

They should have voted for Republicans. This might be a scandal by now.

The brutal cold snap affecting much of the country is taking a devastating toll on victims of superstorm Sandy, many of whom are camped out in tent cities or living in homes without power, heat or running water.
Hundreds of people in New York’s Staten Island and along the Jersey Shore are still without basic necessities nearly three months after the devastating storm struck.

Related“What we are witnessing is the full and seamless fusion of media power with government power.” And that’s why Staten Island only makes news when there’s an opportunity to blame Republicans for it.

  1. Every critic of GWB during Katrina should be apologizing to him right about now. Someone should be in jail for what has happened in NY. Its a travesty.

  2. For the individuals involved I feel some pity, and sympathy, for the press it’s just another nail in the coffin of their credibility.
They howled like banshees for months about Katrina. Here, silence, any more perfect example of how it’s entirely propaganda is superfluous.
Heck PRAVDA in Russia ( and many European news outlets, themselves not what you’d call paragons of objectivity) have all remarked on how the major media in the US is, oh, shall we say “very selective” in how they report news?

  3. “What we are witnessing is the full and seamless fusion of media power with government power.” This sentence describes the situation in the US and formerly in Canada perfectly. In Canada, the media is desperately attempting working to bring back a similar arrangement here.

  4. Billions of dollars spent on official government disaster relief agencies and state continuity of order/services programs, and 2 months after a big storm people are living in 3rd world conditions in America’s most affluent, over governed state. Mein Gott what a degenerate mess the banana republic on our southern border has become.

  5. Oh, Ok, I get it now, if a Hurricane takes out a few cities and counties in the Gulf Coast area that’s just tuff luck, but when a Hurricane takes out cities and counties in the Northern Liberal populated East Coast it’s Global Warming. I have also noticed on the Weather Channel if it’s hot outside that’s Global Warming, but if it’s cold outside that’s just the weather.

  6. Is it just me or does this story remind others of Haiti? It seems to me that living on a lowland plain within a tidal surge zone along the Atlantic Coast would be a receipt for either proactive diligence on the part of property owners (eg. jacked-up foundations on piling) or a sunset clause on one’s habitation. Apparently not. It seems that it’s the federal government’s responsibility to protect people from their own folly. The lesson here shouldn’t be that they should have voted R instead of D but that when shit happens don’t count on the state to be there. Unfortunately the hollowed-out dependency culture is on full display with such events.

  7. Why should Obama care?
Like Castro, hs only goal is total control. Was anyone really surprised by this, once the election was over?

  8. When I saw this on Drudge I was surprised. “Are you kidding me, they haven’t fixed that yet?” I thought. Then I remembered that everything in New York City involving the government is crooked, and things only move when its convenient for the Democrat Party.
It is absolutely true that if Giuliani was mayor and GW Bush was President, this asinine failure of public utilities would be on the front page of the New York Times every single day.
It is also true that if Giuliani was mayor, this crap would have been cleared up months ago. The big cheeses of the power company and other utilities would be job hunting too.

  9. Strange, besides Fox News, I haven’t heard anything in the media about Harry Reid and his band of crooked senators holding up Sandy aid bill.

  10. There must be some error. The MSM and Gov. Christie told me the weekend before the election that Obama had fixed everything.

  11. “What we are witnessing is the full and seamless fusion of media power with government power.”
I read that AoS piese yesterday and also thought that exact sentence nailed our current situation perfectly. They are one now, and it is quite dangerous.

  12. Guys, I know the human part of you wants to feel sorry for these people but don’t. They voted for this. They wanted this. Obama “tried” after all. Can’t they warm themselves up with that?
