Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Sad isn’t it. How did we get here?
We got here because 99% of the time, we’re mere spectators. So we can afford to sit back while other people fight them.
Plus, we must learn to tell these people that they’re crazy, to their faces. Not, “I disagree with… ” but, “You ma’am, are bat shit crazy and you must be stopped.”
I expect things will be somewhat more succinct than that, Kate, South of the Border before much longer…
We got here because 99% of the time, we’re mere spectators. So we can afford to sit back while other people fight them.
We got here because 99% of the time,99% of us are mere spectators. So we can afford to sit back while other people fight them.
There.Fixed that fer ya. And yeah. What have we become to put up with this crap? Oh.And the linked story, one of the side links is a must see about Mayor Stubbs the cat.Seems like a better choice to me than the ones we make 99.999999999% of the time.
I agree with Furey, most of the insanity seems to be coming from city councils who routinely act as if no reason or constitution exists.
Are city councils becoming a dumping ground for failed UN fascists or is this where the really loopy left decided to build their beach head?
Kate, yea 2012 was a sh!t show.
2013?
Lets see.
Checked, the UN is still a pack of Bureaucratic retards.
Check, a Genocidal Dictator runs the “Tourism Dept.”
Need I say more?

We elect people to run our infrastructure and they decide to run our lives. We let them, always under the same banner, “Think of the children” or “cost to the health care”, or “if it saves even one life”, or “for the good of the planet”. We ignore it until it affects us personally and by then it’s usually too late to do much except bitch. We presume these people in charge are intelligent. A terrible mistake. Many are not but they do have one thing in common and that is the gift of gab. It gets them elected. The type of person that runs for government office usually seems to have the same credentials. A need for power, a bureaucratic background, a social climber and a drone , driven by a need to control and change everything that doesn’t meet their standard for the perfect world as they see it. Obama, Bloomberg, McGuinty, Suzuki would all fit this category. I was going to include Gore, but in hindsight, he’s just a greedy pig. Federal, Provincial and Municipal, regulations are imposed because they have learned that it’s more about sheep herding to feed their power trip than personal freedom for the general public. As long as a apathetic public accepts this as the status quo nothing will change , personal freedoms will continue to fall like dominoes and personal choice will no longer be a option. As the great Pogo once said….we have seen the enemy, and it is us. It’s always someone else’s problem until it bites us personally and by then it’s too late. Land of the free ?? It’s a 60 year old fable.
Run Peter run.
You have my vote.

Seconded.

I will vote for you. ,most smart guys are smart enough to NOT seek political power, however.
PM Harper is the exception, not the rule.

Wow, I crashed SDA with a link to an old Alanis song.
I guess that taking flack, means I’m close to the target.
Lost a few Uncles, in a few Wars.
Not saying that I won’t fight.
Just saying, “why bother?”
The bad guys are winning, infect Governments, buy people
and force their crap on ordinary people, and get Elected again.

Methinks that if more people took their Judeo-Christian heritage seriously and, therefore, had a stronger sense of both personal and communal responsibility, this a**holery would have more difficulty gaining a foothold. A spiritually unmoored society tends to cede ground to insane and dictatorial tyrants.
Are city councils becoming a dumping ground for failed UN fascists or is this where the really loopy left decided to build their beach head?

Both.

You have described the classic psychopath. I personally believe this pathology is what drives them to seek political, administrative and enforcement power. It’s a psychotic “need” to dominate or manipulate. The only type of individual who wants to control your life/thinking/actions or intimidate or harass you with their enforcement power is a deeply disturbed individual. There is a political theory called “pathocracy” which holds that the functional psychopaths who lead/control us create a pathological (sick) society/culture through percolation. Evidence points to this.
Myself, I can never understand why these political seculars, activists and world changers can never grasp the simple realization that the highest morality to which one can aspire is to simply leave people alone to fulfil their own destiny instead of controlling and manipulating them. They seem to miss the idea that giving individuals the freedom and encouragement to aspire to excellence, or the highest standard of their capabilities (a free meritocracy) is the highest evolution of society. Certainly these controllers, manipulators and world changers have a basic distrust of human nature/spirit and some level of misanthropy. Obviously there is some moral or psychotic road block in the thinking of officialdom.
FYI – Psychopathy is a personality disorder that has been characterized by shallow emotions (including reduced fear, a lack of empathy, and stress tolerance), coldheartedness, egocentricity, superficial charm, manipulativeness, a need to dominate, irresponsibility, impulsivity, criminal inclinations, misanthopic behavior, a lack of remorse, and a parasitic lifestyle. How many politicians, activists, administrators, regulators and enforcement people have displayed these classic symptoms?
Occam: “Obviously there is some moral or psychotic road block in the thinking of officialdom.”
Most of them are strangers to the Judeo-Christian scriptures. They’re Leftards who left Judeo-Christian spirituality in the dust a long time ago.
batb, exactly, and because of this they have a need to attempt to create a utopia like their socialist fascist and socialist communist ideological brethren have attempted before.
Peterj: “We elect people to run our infrastructure and they decide to run our lives.”
This should be printed at the top of every ballot in every election, just to remind the voter to think it through before they mark their X.
If the average voter had the brains to think it through, the NDP wouldn’t be the official opposition and Obama would be selling used cars. Still a good idea though.
